Korea Bass Pics
I've never fished near Pusan, but I'm almost certain that there are some good fishing areas there. Check out www.anglerstown.com for some decent Korean fishing info like, maps, reports, pictures etc. If you ever make it over this way, let me know.

Korea Bass Pics
I can't remember exactly, but it seems like I remember it being something like 11 lbs XX oz. If I can find out more accurately, I'll post it. Well, it took me a while to find the answer to this but I finally have it. As with any fisherman, my memory was off by a couple of pounds to the heavy . The record LM Bass in Korea is 4100 grams (9.03 lbs) and 62.5 cm (24.61 inches) caught at SaNamJi Resovoir in 2006. (Koreans usually measure length instead of weight except in tournaments.) I'm surprised at how difficult it was to find this information though...

BR Lure Fun?
OK...Point taken. One weekend may not be enough time so lets say two weeks OR whenever you catch a fish with it...which ever comes first. That should be alright as long as everyone tries to keep it moving. It needs to stay simple and fun and not get bogged down with too many rules and technicalities so that no one wants to participate. Fair enough? Good luck. KB

BR Lure Fun?
For those who have asked about this, yes it is still going on. The lure was started by Bassn Blvd and his dad who both caught fish with it in Florida and I'm told the lure is currently enroute to mattm in TX. There were some unforseen circumstances that caused a bit of a delay but hopefully it will pick up a bit. I will start a tracking log on here later with some info related to it. Some of you have asked if you are too late to sign up. No, it's never too late to "sign up" although there is no list of entrees other than this thread itself. As far as an order for where the lure goes to next, it is up to the current holder as to who/where he/she sends it, however, I would ask that you use some thought and not send it to a place that is still covered in ice or to someone who has already had their chance. We never established a period of time that you are allowed to keep the lure before forwarding it, so I'll say here that the general rule is you shouldn't keep it more than one weekend. When you receive it, please make a post in this thread letting everyone know where it is and then post again when you have forwarded it. It is up to you to get the address of the next recipient. Any questions or suggestions for enhancement are welcome. Good luck to all. Korea_Bassin

Korea Bass Pics
Bass fishing is a growing sport here although the majority of fishermen here still go for carp and other indegenous species. It seems that you are either one or the other, but can't be both here unlike in the states, where a person may go for trout this weekend, bass the next, and then crappie or catfish the next. The carp is the standard "sport fish" in these parts though it seems. But, as I said, bass fishing is growing rapidly here. They have two pro leagues although they are nothing like what we think of as a pro leagues in the U.S. None of the "pros" here fish for a living. The top prize in a contest "MIGHT" be $5000, but usually more like $2000. It's all mostly for fun and comaraderie. The guys that fish the leagues are pretty well off though. Most of them have American bass boats that they went to the states and bought and then had shipped back here. It is cheaper to do that than to buy new here and pay for the import taxes (import taxes on such luxury items can be up to 75-100%...how's that for fair trade...aye?) so I'm told. I am friends with one of the guys who is normally in the top 10 in one of the leagues. The dude works about 3 months a year and plays the rest of the time...oh to be so lucky. (His SUV stereo system cost over $20,000...crazy!!!!) He teaches snow skiing in the winter (the only K2 qualified instructor in the country so I'm told), teaches diving in the summer and then bass fishes whenever he wants. He has nothing but the newest and best equipment and flat out knows how to fish! Ahh, but I digress.... There is some excellent bass fishing to be had here although there is no danger of the next world record bass coming out of this place any time soon. They have a pretty good ratio of 3 lber's and up with anything in the 10 lb category making the fishing headlines. (The country record is somewhere around 11 lbs I think and I will find out more accurately when I talk to my friend again.) They have only had bass over here since the late 60s-early70s if what I have read and been told is true. It isn't that difficult to catch a 2-3 lber quite regularly. 5 lbers are somewhat common on one particular lake on the eastern side of the country (which is where the two in my avatar came from) and other areas produce large numbers of fish up to 5-6 lbs. As far as their fishing styles, they do a lot of finess fishing with drop shotting (down shot as they call it) being the most popular. However, that isn't the style of the guy I fish with. He fishes fast and that is one thing that stuck out to me from the first time I fished with him. We would pull up to a point make a couple of tosses to the obvious places (him with multiple rods/lures...me still trying to make the perfect cast to another location) and then its "let's go...nothing here" and off we were to another location. I'll have to say, we have never failed to make limit though (four "pro-am" tournaments) with our best finish coming in fourth place which earned me all of a custom rod (nothing special). I am still amazed at how fast he fishes and changes locations. I have tried to tell myself to try the same technique when I am fishing alone, but when I pull up on a place I think should hold some fish, I find it hard to leave until I'm satisfied that nothing is there. If there is other (or more specific) information you would like to have about bass fishing here, let me know. I'd be more than glad to tell anyone more about it. By the way...if anyone is interested in either of the two "pro bass" leagues I spoke of, here are the websites (mostly in Korean, but with a photo gallery at the bottom.) http://www.sportfishing.co.kr/ http://www.kbass.co.kr/ Good luck...enjoy.

Building a rack for all my un-opened lures
That's a nice setup you have there. But if anyone else is having the same problem, I'd like to repost this link to help you out. http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/bassmaster/fishingtips/news/story?page=b_story_Organize_Tackle_2

Drop Shot vs. Carolina Rig
This makes me think of a story my Korean friend told me about Japanese finesse fishing. He said he was fishing in Japan a couple of years ago and was fishing with on old Japanese man who would cast out his drop shot rig, light a cigarette, smoke, talk, and when finished with his cigarette, proceed to twitch his line. He would then wait, talk etc. One cast might last 15 minutes. My friend said he was so frustrated just watching the old man that he couldn't stand it, but the old man outfished everyone around him. Made me think of bobber fishing as a kid.

Playstation fishing
My son has the Mark Davis version which is a few years old and while I can't say it's anything like the real deal, it does keep my son interested in fishing over the winter months which makes it worthwhile if for no other reason. I'm interested in seeing other responses to this as I may fork over for an upgrade if anything worth the money is out there. By the way, I'm not recommending the Mark Davis version by any means. It's quite arcade-like and doesn't accurately replicate the difficulty of bass fishing. There has to be something better out there!

Just goes to show that there's not much related to a bass that you can't ask for and get on this site.

How can i hold a pickerel?
I don't know if these are any good or not since I've never used them but I remembered this thread when I saw it so I figured I'd go ahead and post it. http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/cb.aspx?a=60433

Stren Series on Lake Seminole
Do any of you fish Lake Seminole? I was wondering because of the Stren series tournament that was held there last weekend. Did anyone see the final results of that tournament? It looks like some really low numbers to me. The winner caught one fish on the last day and only 11 fish total over the four day tournament. There were only 264 bass caught by 186 pros on Friday including six five-bass limits. The report mentions a cold front moving through, but this still seems like some low numbers to me for a pro tournament. I guess the pros have a tough time in tough conditions too. I'll try to remember this the next time I'm having a rough go of it. Here's the link to the final report: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_123/stren-seminole3-08.html

BR Lure Fun?
Bassn Blvd has already volunteered to start it off, so go ahead. It's your choice of whom to send it to next but keep in mind the climate for the next few weeks. If you are chosen as a recipient, do your best to keep it moving. If you know you are going to be away for a couple of weeks, please defer until a better time. Bassn Blvd ... what's the lure of choice? Pics?

What are you?
I too am a Christian as well as the father of two fantastic children (13 & 12 years old) and husband of one exceptional lady that provides outstanding support to me regardless of what I do. Of less importance...I am retired from the Army (22 years - First Sergeant) as a Korean linguist and now working as a defense contractor in military computer simulations. Plan to get back to the great state of Tennessee one of these days.

Just Aint The Same
LBH, I read the entire 12 page thread and it ended with an explanation of some Bass earrings. What happened with the challenge? That was never explained. Did you ever receive anything back saying that you were rejected or just left hanging without any answer? Just curious.

What's the strangest thing you've caught on the end of your line?
How did you know what the nightcrawler was fishing for? ;D Strangest thing I caught was.....a seagull....Monterey, CA. Now if you want to talk about strangest things seen floating in the water...I can honestly say I fished next to about a 12" TV - floating screen up right next to my boat. Also, almost every body of water I fish on here in Korea has at least one (usually more) soccer ball floating on it somewhere.

NYG!!!! WIN IT wow!!!
Great game by the Giants. Not only did they win, they did it as a Wild Card team which means they won every playoff game on the road. The greatest thing about the Giants winning is that we won't have to listen to the undefeated Spygate asterick debate for the next decade.

BR Lure Fun?
I saw the "BR Challenge" post here a couple of weeks ago and along a similar line, I thought this might be something fun to do if anyone else is interested. Someone coughs up a lure (preferably something that will last a while - hard bait, spinner, jig, etc.). Take it fishing and hopefully catch something with it, get photos, post them here with details on where you fished, and details of fish caught etc. Then, pick another member here and send it to them. You can only keep the lure for (7/10/14??? days). If you lose the lure, you cough up the next one (of your choice) in addition to an added penalty (to be determined...but I'm sure lots of razzing from other members will be included.) We keep a record and see how many different places and how many fish we can catch with one lure. Anyone in? Someone in one of the warmer climates may want to start it off as I don't anticipate having any luck here for the next six weeks or so. If anyone has any ideas to improve on the idea, feel free to post.
