  1. Good Luck! I lost a couple bucks the past few days, and I am now back to $ .10. I will be checking out the sites you have listed... do they a referral program? If so, post a like with your referral code, and I'll sign up. Thanks No referral program on any of them.
  2. Yes, the water here is highly pressured, especially if you fish from the bank. Any place that has good access to the water from the bank is constantly fished on a daily basis. There aren't that many boats here yet, although their numbers are increasing daily. And although carp are the primary target here, bass fishing is growing at an extremely rapid pace. The carp fishermen hate the bass because they claim that they destroy the carp population. There was a movement here a couple of years ago (and it almost made it into law) that would have made it illegal to release a bass in an attempt to eradicate the species from Korean waters. Bass aren't indigenous to Korea but were introduced here back in the '60s. They were originally put in fish farms, but escaped during floods and now they are pretty much all over the country. Some Koreans, if they catch a bass will throw it on the bank or in some cases spike them over a tree limb to demonstrate their dislike for the species. Another problem is pollution. Anywhere you go, there is trash (LOTS) along the bank and in the water. I fished this same lake a few years ago and remember seeing about a 12" TV floating screen up beside my boat. With all the industrial development and construction going on over here, there has to be a lot of chemical contaminants in the water too. Currently, there is very little done in the way of conservation over here either. Licenses aren't required and except for a couple of species, there are no laws on when, how many, or what sizes you can catch/keep. Although the bass fishermen are the minority, 99% of them are in touch with American/Japanese fishing customs and they usually release most everything they catch. But, the next time you are forking over the dough for that license, don't complain about it but be thankful for what it does. Another odd thing I've noticed is that almost every trip, I see AT LEAST one soccer ball floating on the water somewhere. I think I'm going to start snapping pictures of them and maybe begin a thread here where I will post a picture of my soccer ball sightings on the water.
  3. Alright, this is a bit late in posting but here's the story anyway. I was able to get into a Pro-Am tournament here in Korea back in early April. It wasn't an international tournament so I was actually the only American in the event. Anyway, I pair up with the league president as a team. The pro-am events here are fished as a team, not as pro and amateurs separately fishing from the same boats. So if you miss a fish or two...well, you can imagine. Anyway, we leave out and start fishing some submerged brush. A few minutes into it, I hear my partner cast and it just didn't sound right. I turn around and notice his pole dangling from itself half into. I make a light comment about how that sucks and go back to fishing. He picks up another rod and starts using it. A few minutes later, the same thing happens. I'm thinking to myself..."how is he doing that?" but don't say anything. Anyway, he picks up another rod and on the first cast, it also breaks. He then tells me that he ran over all of his rods that morning when loading up his boat/truck. Here's the photo of what's left of his rods.... I had to loan him one of my rods in order to finish the tournament. We finished seventh and he didn't notice me snapping this picture of his rods. So all in all it was a pretty good day. Here he is with one of our keepers...not that big but only four boats limited that day, so any keeper was a good fish. (We finished with four fish, but missed three others between us so ....oh well, it was fun).
  4. Nice picture and welcome to the forum. Now tell us the story that goes with that photo.
  5. They don't have crappie here in Korea so I haven't fished for them in several years. But we used to fish for crappie at night with lanterns using live minnows and had great success. Another good bait is a small crappie spinner.
  6. By the way, I signed up and have my entire ten cents riding on KC tomorrow.
  7. Updated 29 JUN 08.
  8. This thing is going pretty well. I gotta credit BassnBlvd for coming up with an awesome bait for this endeavor. Catches fish, but not something easily lost. So far everyone has caught at least one fish with it. Now git'r'done. Let's see some hawgs. Good Luck.
  9. I use a spinning reel if I want to skip, although I'm no pro at it even then. LBH has a video on skipping posted somewhere on this site though. If I can find it, I'll post a link to it or you can ask him.

Anyone ever ordered cigars from this site or have any recommendations for another good site to order from? http://www.thompsoncigar.com
  11. Here are a couple of other similar (FREE) sites that I toy around with on occasion: www.wagerline.com - Play the Survivor contest. You are allowed one pick per day and try to keep your streak alive. You win prizes if your streak reaches certain milestones. 9 game streak = hat 13 = Jacket 17 = $1000 21 = $10,000 grand prize If you lose, your streak starts back over at zero. I've played for a long time and my longest streak to date is only nine. Only two people have ever reached the 21 game streak. They also have some other contests on the site. Another (FREE) site is at www.freesb.com You get $1000 fictitious each week. The contest runs from Monday thru Sunday. The top ten winners each week win actual prizes. I've had some luck in that one a couple of times. Enjoy.
  12. Correct. Or, another way to look at it: Hotel = 8.33 x 3 = 25 Clerk = .67 x 3 = 2 Rebate = 3 x 1 = 3 Total = 25 + 2 + 3 =30
  13. Do you have to register that with the local law enforcement?
  14. There are some small Linux distributions that are small enough to install on a USB drive. Then you just plug it into whatever computer you are using and... viola...any computer you use is "your" computer. All of your files, preferences, installed programs etc. The one that stands out is DSL (d**n Small Linux) but there are also others available. I haven't used that particular one, but I am a huge fan of Linux. No more Microsoft for my home computing (although I am forced to use it at work).
  15. Three salesmen check into a hotel. The night clerk at the hotel charges them the normal rate of $10. When the hotel owner returns the next morning and asks about business, the clerk tells him of the three new customers and that he had received $30 from them. The owner then tells the clerk that he made a mistake in the billing. Since the three men came as a group, they should have been given the discount rate of $25 combined. He then gives $5 to the clerk with instructions to return it to the three men. The clerk, not knowing how to divide the $5 between the three men, decides to return $1 each to the men and pocket the other $2, which he does. Here's the problem. The men paid $9 each ($27) after receiving the $1 discount and the clerk kept $2. That's $29. They originally paid $30. What happened to the other dollar?
  16. I suppose it will probably work, but if I were inclined to use something like this, I would probably use a snap swivel instead since it is completely enclosed. But since I don't use snap swivels, I won't be using this device either. The fewer pieces of tackle between me and the fish, the better. Just my opinion. Good luck, and hope it works well for you. Let us know how it goes.
  17. PM sent. Let me know if you have any questions about the website.

  20. Well, my Sea Eagle 9 has come to the point where it's more work than pleasure. I've had good use out of it for the past 5+ years, but hey, rubber only lasts so long. Too many patches, and now a tear along a seam that won't stay patched. President Bush is looking out for my fishing pleasure though. We received our "economic stimulus package" just in time for Fathers Day and check out how my wonderful wife stimulated the (Korean) economy... Its not a Ranger, but it's perfect for the little lakes and rivers I fish here. I can't wait to try it out. For anyone who may be thinking of purchasing a Sea Eagle, don't take this as a hit on them. Those are excellent little boats for what they are made. It just wasn't economically feasible to have one shipped over here or I might have gone that route again.

  22. If that's the sky I'm looking at through the fish's lip in that last photo, I'd say he had a pretty good hookset on that one!!!
  23. I have a BPS Pro Qualifier baitcasting reel that is about 5 years old. After a cast, when I turn the handle, sometimes it doesn't fully trip the catch that allows the spool to turn and take up the line. The line guide moves back and forth when I turn the handle, but the spool doesn't turn. When that happens, I have to press the button again and give the handle a sudden turn which usually releases the catch. Anyone know what the problem might be or how to solve it? Thanks in advance.
