  1. i won a lot of money this past fall on the rage bug, i rigged it on a biffle hard head/ swing head.... caught tons of bass texas rigging it but the big fish wanted it as a jig trailer
  2. ive caught them on frogs prespawn on certain lakes here in pa.
  3. use them all the time. theyre silent and have a very nice erratic searching action. i use the chartreuse black black and red craw colors in the spring and absolutely light up big prespawn bass
  4. for a finesse jig, zoom z hog jr
  5. Lake Hamilton Arkansas. Cheat Lake west virginia.
  6. try this: wind= spinnerbait no wind= swim jig
  7. it all depends on the jig and what you are doing with it. if you are fishing a white swimjig i would have to say youd have to throw some sort of white trailer. i like to flip trees with jigs and my go to is green pumpkin with a brown trailer for clear water and for dirty water i like a black jig with a blue trailer. but when flipping grass i found that the fish get really particular when it comes to the skirt color vs the trailer color. ive had amazing days throwing a purple jig with a brown trailer in grass. ive had days they wanted a red and black skirt with a green trailer... i like to mix it up and let the fish tell me what they want. also a great tip is for smallmouth make sure the skirt and trailer matches. i jig fish alot for smallies and ive never caught one on a crazy color combination.
  8. Bass will roam in both clear and dirty water. Just like they will hide in cover in both clear and dirty water. But a bass will put itself in the best position to get something to eat. in muddy water a bass will use a piece of cover to hide and ambush prey that swim by. Though bass in clear water will do they same, clear water bass have the opportunity to see their food from a much longer distance and chase them down when the conditions are right. But in the heat of the summer on a clear lake when the bass go deep its important to remember that light penetration is lowered and the fish cannot see as far and will get on a piece of cover such as a tree ledge, rocks, etc to ambush prey.
  9. Just watched a video on the Reins bubbling shaker and it caught my eye. looks like a great bait for lake erie. anyone ever use it? what colors are good and do you prefer the 4 or 5 inch?
  10. can you make one with a snap so hooks can be swapped out like on the mustad fastach swing head
  11. black spinnerbait with colorado black blades
  12. i use the the mustad fastach wobble head and i won two tournaments on it this year rigging a green pumpkin rage craw on it. Its a great day to catch big smallmouths. when i figured it out i found a school of smallies and in the tournament i got to the spot saw the fish on my graph but they would not eat my dropshot tube carolina rig or alabama rig. i decided to try the wobblehead and on the first cast caught a 4 pounder. i caught 19 keepers off the spot on it and won the tournament. the following week i went to the three rivers in pittsburgh for a club tournament and won there with 3 fish for 5 pounds all caught on the wobble head with the rage craw
  13. i never used the gamakatsu but i use the vmc spinshot alot for dropshotting swimbaits and i really like them.
  14. the big smallies are out of the bay and out in the lake. we were catching them in 35 feet out about 9 miles fishing sunken islands
  15. try a lake fork paddle tail swimbait called a live magic. for that particular jig id go with an ayu or watermelon red pearl trailer and swim it around shallow cover
  16. ive never throw the number 7 but the number 6 Is probably the best cold water crankbait ever made.. I fish bluff style banks with a lot of rock and wood. clear water I throw a bluegill or shad color depending on the lake and in muddy water I throw a red craw.
  17. if I kept all the bass I catch there would be none left for you. Look at just a small club tournament, 12 guys bring in 140 pounds of bass each week, all legal to keep if desired. theres thousands of clubs across the country. if it was ethical to keep bass and not to practice catch and release then theres no doubt the bass population would be wiped out. Bass isn't even tasty to eat any how. If you want to eat fish go catch something your state stocks, trout for example. something that you pay for when u buy a fishing license and every year will be replenished. theres enough people out there that keep everything they catch.
  18. they've been out for awhile. I def like senkos more but the ocho is much more durable so when I really get into them on senkos I often switch to the ocho just so I don't waste as many expensive senkos. I do prefer the ocho on a drop shot over a senko on a dropshot.
  19. that is crazy long, should be pretty easy then to get a huge sack of fish if your fishing for 14 hours. I fish two night tournaments a year. one is from 6pm-2am and the other is 12 midnight til 8 am. i do the best between 11pm and 4am, i have spots where big smallmouth show up in the middle of the night, i turn off all my lights and completely stay under the radar to avoid spooking fish. i only throw two baits, a black spinner bait and a Carolina rig.
  20. Alabama rigs and spinner baits. bass are chasing baitfish that time of year. usually the falling water temps will drive the bait to the black of the creeks. focus on outside creek channels and start at the back and work your way out. Rock holds the big ones this time of the year. my favorite baits for fall fishing is a buzzbait, spinnerbait Alabama rig and a jig.
