  1. I've caught lots of bass with a trailer hook.It shouldn't hurt your number of bites.
  2. Wear my bullet proof vest at work like I'm supposed to.
  3. I'm with Nick.I'd pay 2 grand for this rig.Even though it runs good,it's pretty old.
  4. I really don't have a rule of thumb. My way of doing things is to go by your instinct. As long as I feel there are fish there to be caught,I'll most likely stay a while and try to see what they want. After awhile with no action, gut instinct takes over and it's time to move along.
  5. Glad you're back in the fold...LOL
  6. I was in 4,but the other 3 were so boring that I quit posting after a week or so.They just didn't have the magic of this place. So here I am in the only active forum that I'm amember of.
  7. I use the Bass Resource log.I print out lots of copies to last a long time.I also went to maptech.com and got a map of my home lake off of it.I print out a copy for each fishing trip and mark where each bass was caught on the lake.
  8. I've always been a pretty fair shallow water angler, and I'll continue that.I also have begun to start "getting it" with deeper water fishing(c-rig,c-baits,drop shot).I'd like to become as comfortable on deep structure as I am fishing shallow. Also, with the addition of pitchin' to my bag of tricks,I hope to become a more complete angler who can handle many different scenarios when it comes to changing conditions.
  9. You are the man,Chris! Thanks a lot.Very considerate of you.
  10. So Rogue... How do you tune your reel for pitching and flipping? I think mine is still set up too tight. Sorry 'bout the threadjack....actually, I think I'll start a thread about that. I have the spool pretty loose. The tube or jig really flies when I'm pitchin' it.I REALLY have to keep my thumb on the spool or...disaster!
  11. Hummingbird Piranha 10.Not a fancy rig,but it gets the job done for the money. And it's about the easiest to use.An imbecile could find structure and cover with it.Did I mention an imbecile could use it ,even me...LOL!
  12. Cane pole for bream.......Top water or dredging the bottom
  13. I think learning to pitch with a baitcaster and not backlash it every other cast was difficult.I've mastered it and because it was so difficult and I practiced so much to get better it has become my favorite technique.
  14. My most effective was the floating Rogue in gold and chrome(just like KVD).Spinnerbaits were a close second.I learned and got pretty good at two techniques that I had never tried.Carolina-rigs with lizards and finese worms.I also fell in love with pitching tubes and jigs into cover.I'm most proud of becoming proficient with pitching because when those cold fronts roll in next spring ,I'm going to look forward to it instead of dreading it.Pitching tubes and jigs has become my favorite technique.I may have to change my name to Pitchnflip(not).
  15. Hey LBH,what kind of glue do you use to install the carpet?
  16. Welcome!Only one thing that comes close to bassin' and that's talking about it with friends on the Bass Resource forums!
  17. I've now been using the c-rig for several months, and it has become one of my favorite ways to fish. One piece of advice that I can give has to do with fishing a c-rig in cold water.I've noticed that I get a lot more bites in cold water when I use a plastic that has a more subtle movement. When it's hot,I like a lizard with curly arms, legs, and tail.In cold water,I'm catching more bass on a 6" finese worm.Any plastic with the subtle movement should work(such as a senko type bait).I'm thinking the more subtle movement is percieved by the bass as a slower meal that they might catch easier with less effort.
  18. Ihey just opened one in Pearl(Jackson),MS.Probably gonna go Saturday afternoon.
  19. I had that happen twice last year.Gotta watch those treble hooks!
  20. I'm lucky that I live in an area where you can fish year 'round.I'm planning on bassin' Saturday and Sunday.I've actually caught some big fish during the coldest part of the year.
  21. Fingernail clippers! Change baits without biting the line.
  22. The last few times I've went I caught them on a green pumpkin finese worm on a c-rig and pitchin' and flippin' a chartreuse w/red tube.I haven't had much success using traditional fall baits.

Sunday was a sunny, bluebird day...with 20+ mph winds. The main lake was whitecapping.I stuck to the calmer coves and feeder creeks. With the high pressure front moving through,I pitched and flipped a Strike King chartreuse pepper w/ "bleeding" tenicles tube in and around all of the many laydowns that Katrina left us.Caught 5 that averaged around 2.5 pounds.
  24. Glad to be back!I was about to check myself into the local booby hatch!
  25. Come on.Give an old washed up jock a few free lures! When i break the state record(18.1),You'll wish you had got on the bandwagon...LOL
