  1. Shimano has some maintenance how to on their website http://fish.shimano.com/publish/content/fish/sac/us/en/customer_service/reel_maintenance_instractions.html
  2. Watched Gettin Close with Lee & Tiffany on the Outdoor Channel bow fishing asian carp on the Illinois down by Peoria... Tiffany takes 1 to the face..
  3. None...I went from a ponytail down my back to a shaved head and have never looked back...
  4. Great to hear your doing good. I had a spinal cord stimulator implanted 2 weeks ago..I was out of the hospital the same day and never touched the pain pills they gave me(had trouble kicking them a while back). I did PT all the way up until surgery and I think that made a huge difference in my recovery and the pain..
  5. It all depends on where he plans on using it.. I use my Otter XT on small shallow rivers and ponds/pits and its great. Keeps me dry and allows me to take the tackle I need for the day.. I dont think it would be the best choice on bigger open water but thats why I have a boat also. Check out http://www.paddling.net/Reviews/ and look over the reviews
  6. Congrats, fishing will be the farthest thing in your mind for a while, you'll still get out once in a while. My daughter changed my whole life. My priorities are changed and I have a whole new outlook on life..It's the single best thing that has happened to me.. The best times I have is spending time with my daughter either fishing or exploring the woods and water, you'll see things in a differant light. My daughters not a tomboy but she can get all dolled up for a dance recital then turn around in scrubs and hit the river looking for crawdads..
  7. $3.08 north central Illinois >
  8. I start mine the night before with the muffs on and also do a run down on everything..I dont like surprises at the ramp.. The only reason I do this is because I have been stuck in line at the ramp watching people crank their motors over only to discover it wont start, then it never fails they pull off the cowl and start wrenching on it there at the end of the ramp. The bottom of the ramp IS NOT the place to trouble shoot your motor when theres a line at the ramp nor is the place to start loading your boat with your gear

  10. California car-building legend Boyd Coddington dies at 63 He had a show on The Discovery Channel called American Hot Rod..VERY talented car builder.. Jesse James and Chip Foose learned there trade at his shop.. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2008/02/27/state/n103701S80.DTL
  11. maybe power-pole anchoring system? http://www.power-pole.com/
  12. I started mine in '95 and I can go back and see what patterns worked where before I hit the water..Some things change over the years but it pretty much helps me find productive water..
  13. I spool half way also and reverse my braid. I had an outfit that I had spooled with Spiderwire that I used for years without any problems except for faiding and now I see they recommend you change your braid every 2-3 years. I'll keep mine on until I start having problems with it. http://forums.riversmallies.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=34776
  14. I recieved mine and its ok.. I haven't used it yet but have opened it up and gave it a good cleaning/lubed and that made a world of difference.. It doesn't compare to my Shimano's but it is way better than my starter reels 20+ years ago.. Looks like I have to wait a few more weeks for the ice to clear before I can take it out and try it
  15. I prefer the sit-ins because they keep me and my gear dry..Here in Illinois I can get on the water earlier in the year while the guys with the sit-ons are waiting for warmer water.. Look at an Otter XT,it has a padded seat and foot braces which gives you some leverage while paddling.. On my XT I have 2 Scotty flush mount rod holders mounted on the back to carry spare rods and 1 mounted in front
  16. I used it last year and it faded fast..Trying Power Pro hi-yellow this year
  17. from my local paper http://mywebtimes.com/archives/ottawa/display.php?id=353368&query=Maria%20Kanellis
  18. Go with the Shimano,I have a couple dating back to 1993 that I use hard and they have never given me an ounce of problems
  19. I use the braid scissors but read (Bassmaster?)that you can use the cutter on the package from dental floss..I think Power Pro has that on their boxes now
  20. North central Illinois here and its nice and clear(but cold), can see it great Daughter couldn't hang for more than a minute
  21. really like the RC 1
  22. I have always used Spiderwire braid on my baitcasters and Fireline on my spin reels.. But after hearing everyones take on Power Pro and Suffix braid I think I will be trying them this year.. I just bought some Cabelas Ripcord to try on my spinning reels.. Did try Stren Braid last year and it worked pretty good
  23. Alot of these "low end" reels today are alot better than the "high end" reels I started with 20 years ago.. Dont get me wrong I own 6 Curado's and 1 Citica that are outstanding reels but for a loaner or for someone just learning I dont think they could go wrong
  24. It was posted on another site,I guess it's in an upcoming magazine. Mine ended up costing me $8 after reward points, not that I needed it but the monkey got the best of me I'll let the nephew use it when I take him out,no more picking birdnests out of my Shimano's when I get home..
