Best one this year, so far....
Hawk: Yeah that would be fun, let me know what days would be good for you. I am thinking of going out there this Sunday, with my brother Scott, not Steve, he doesn't fish much.

Best one this year, so far....
I have gotten a big fish every trip out for the last few weeks. This one is the biggest so far, she took a small lipless crank bait in fire tiger. I was going for peacocks and my rod just loaded up big time. She put up a great fight, jumped and pulled drag, probably took me full minute or two to land her. My buddy managed a fish in th 4# range, I also got one around 4#, between the two of us we caught 30 fish mostly 1.5 to 2#. Then later in the day we saw the big grass carp floping on the suface, I don't know if it was sick or old but it was definitly on its way out. It was skinny probably a 25# in its prime. Overall a really great day of fishing, the next few months are my favorite time to fish, I get some good ones this time of year. Oh yeah the big girl went 7.0 on the digi.

I had Hawg for Thanksgiving...
Went out yesterday in the AM, it was cool and a little foggy out, perfect pre-front conditions. Caught allot of fish in the first hour or so of fishing, on basically soft plastics. Then the big girl showed up for the feast, she ate my senko as fast as it hit the water. Great fight a couple jumps and 6.5# later here she is. Happy holidays everyone.

Anybody else caught Gar on a crankbait?
They will eat anything down here in florida. We mostly get bit by them on soft plastics, but it isn't uncommon for them to hit spinners or cranks, usually the slower you retrieve the better your chances for something other than a bass. They follow a bait for a while before they attack.

Water Temps Cool, Florida bassin Hot
I tried using shad the other day, to see if I could find the Peacocks, and got skunked so I switch back to senkos and cranks and continued to catch nice fish for the rest of the day. Where I fish it is all about location if you make a good cast on a good looking piece of struture you'll get a hit 9 out of 10 times.

Water Temps Cool, Florida bassin Hot
Down here in Florida we all love it when things cool off a little. When our water temps dip into the mid 70's and lower, watch out, fishing gets real good every where. I went out Thurs and Sat mornings and caught 24 on Thurs and 15 on Sat, allmost all of them in AM. The big fish was just over 5#, but we had I think 5 doubles, one of which was a 4# and a 3.5#. Just a whole lotta fun out there right now. Hope you all are gettin them too.

another matt minnow toad
Another great one there Paul, (or is it?) No disrepect intended, but I fish a series of golf course ponds, and I don't think any of them are more then 3 to 4 acres max, some of them may only be an acre or so. Point is, that I catch a decent amount of big bass out of those lakes. And as far as I know bass can live 10 year or so, right. I think you, are as well as myself are catching the same fish over and over again, Just alittle bigger the next year. Like I said, no disrespect intended, I still love pulling in a toad as often as I get the opprotunity to. Do you think this is the case with some of your giants, and do you see marks on thier jaws that you remember making yourself? Just wondering.........

46 mph wind
The wind and the waves have been fairly high for a few weeks now. I was in long point about a week ago, fishing was tough every where except the beaches. We had a blast catching blues, jacks and ladyfish till we were sore. No snook at all, you would think sebastian inlet at this time of year, they would be all over the place, well they weren't. A FWC officer that was kind enough to pull us over, (LOL) told us that he had seen one keeper all weekend. Oh well overall we got a few nice Trout, a short Red, and a million Jacks. Fun weekend, it is beautiful up there.

Big bass on the Links
Finaly got back out on the course and did a little fishing. Had a fairly good day between my brother and myself we caught around 30 in a few hours. The highlight was my last fish approx. 5# or so. Nice strong fish, they get fiesty when that water temp starts to drop. We each missed as many as we caught, which is never good. But overall a great Sat afternoon on the links catching fish. Here's the biggest, as before she went around 5# or so.

New PB Peacock!
Good looking Peacocks there Hawk, There are some real good canals around here that hold some beasts. It is almost that time where you can go out and get 20 or 30 of them in an afternoon. I've got some spots, so we should get together and trade info. I am over at my bro's shop fairly often, so I will swing into your shop and say Hello. Heres a pig from last year at one of my secret spots.

Look at this largemouth...
Yeah, I would say that there is a level of uncomfortability involved, I am sure she was grateful. Nice fish
-
how big is this fish
That fish would be 20" to 21"except for the tail that looks like something or someone chewed it off. She looks like a 5+ pounder to me. Good fish

28" Bass, not the way I like to see them.
Well there's no blame being laid on anyone. It was just a shame, and I know that lake very well, and that even in the condition she was in, it looked like she had been eating, and was healthy enough. But I do agree that those fish always seem to get away close to the boat, it must be in their genetics. LOL At least you tried to save her.

28" Bass, not the way I like to see them.
I went out on my local lake, and things have been picking up. I wound up catching 10 fish nothing over 2#. It was a fun day overall, untill I rolled up on what looked like a dead grass carp floating by the bank. I got close enough to identify it as a big LMB. It was covered in flies, I got swarmed when I shooed them off of the big girl. I layed my rod from nose to tail and measured the rod to reveal 28" I thought that she would definitly be a 10# fish or better. What a shame, she may have just died of natural causes, but there is so much bait I think she took a hook wrong and wasn't handled properly. Oh well I am pretty sure there are more like her in this lake. Here's the corpse

Great Birthday Present
I have probably been on the pier with you. I have been going in the AM 2-3 times a week. Yesterday the (poons) were going off like crazy for about an hour or so after daybreak, you could look straight down and see them spinning around sucking down as many mullet as possible. I couldn't get any takers, although I did manage 1 very nice Mack around 3.5#. A few nice snook were taken yesterday also. A week ago I got a blue that was around a foot or so and he was hooked fairly deep, when i finally got him unhooked I threw him back and watch as a 50" snook came up immediatly and took care of that blue if you know what I mean. If I knew what you looked like I would say hello to ya. Heres what I look like.

Heating up down here
Got macs and blues over the weekend, just off the the north side of the Juno pier. Nice big macs and small 1# blues. And got 250 mullet on the first cast with the net in the inlet. Froze a bunch for offshore bait.

Some of my other fish
Those are nice fish, especially the six pounder, it looks like it has about 2 lbs of grass on it. LOL

41.5" Monster, No Joke
She ate a 4 inch live jack, and I think it was a reaserch official not an officer, he was taking the inner ear out of the keepers caught for aging the indivudual fish. There were only about 6 keepers caught out of the thousands swimming around the pier. They are crafty fish.

41.5" Monster, No Joke
Well got out to the Juno pier this morning, and the snook were literally jumping out of the water. The bait was thick and these guys were hungry. Took me a little while, but this big girl took me for about a five minute journey up and down the pier, and finnally into a net, and an FWC officer was right to take some mesurements and he relased her for me. She was almost 10 inches over the slot limit and if I had to guess her weight at around 25 to 30 lbs. What a great fight, and a beautiful fish, I love south Florida.

What do you guys think this bass weighs?
I recognize those tennis courts, I live on that lake. Been tough to catch em on that lake this summer.
