5/18/08 Sunday trip with Hunt N fish
The lake you are fishing, is very tough to fish in the warmer months, I havn't figured it out yet either ?????? (As you remember I live on that system) As far as the bedding fish allot of them are peacocks and blue tilapia.

kicked 2 more out of bed today.
You guys are lucky to be able to sight fish all these hawgs, I wish the clarity allowed me to see them I know they are in my lake, but I can't see em. Ever once in a while I will catch a glimps of a big one on a bed, but I can't figure out if their still on the bed or if they are interested in the presentation. I don't just know, the water isn't clear enough. I just stinks. I can't really complain, I do catch plenty of big fish, I just want to catch some of those big bedding bass. Keep posting those big monster bass, at least some of you guys are gettin em off the beds.

Potomac River goldfish
That looks like a comet, a really big one..... (A comet is a feeder goldfish usually 1 or 2 inches in length) I had them in my tank, 100 gallon, they lived for ever and grew to around 9 or 10 inches or so. I think it is most definitly a giganic goldfish / comet.

Don't believe it myself!
Yeah I had something similar happen to me. My brother and myself were fishing in a small lake and I broke off what seemed to be a really nice fish, snapped my 15 lb florocarbon leader. And a few casts later he hooked and caught a 3 lber, the fish had my leader hanging out of his mouth, I recovered the hook and the bait and released this very hungry fish. It happed the same way a year or so ago in my canal system, smaller fish though. Fun stuff, 2 time that happed to me and my bro....

Lost the big one...
That last pic is about 300 yards from my house.... The canal you are in hasn't been to productive this year. Last year I did very well in the that canal. We should get together and have some mini tourneys out there. Here's a good one I got this year. ( I am guessing about 7.5 or so.)

How big do male bass get? This one is huge!!!
I couldn't tell if it was on a bed or not, I caught it in around 6 ft of water near a good drop off to 20ft + Like I said it might just be an old female whose spawned out recently, probably for her last time. She didn't fight as hard as she should have. If it was a male those are some good genetics to have in my home lake, I tell ya. Thanks for the fast responses.

How big do male bass get? This one is huge!!!
I went out this afternoon and caught this big male bass, I think ??? he went around 23.5 inches long, I didn't weigh him because I didn't want to take too long to release him, he looked like an old guy, so I just took a pic of him by the measuring tape and released him quick. I guess by how heavy he was to be around 5.5 or 6 lbs. If it was female from the size of the head it would have been 8 or 9 lbs. I am just curious to know if any one else has caught big male bass like this one or if it is just and old spawned out female. Would appriciate any responses on this one. Just look at the size of the head on that thing..... Geeeeezzz

10 + pounder
Dissapointment is a good word for it, not ridicule or hurtfulness. You post a subject matter of a 10 + pounder And we like to see a 10 + pounder...... That all. Still a very nice fish, by the way.

Guess the weight
Your hand under the fish gives us a clue, I would say from photos of fish that I have had on a scale, yours is around 4.5 to 5 lbs. Which is a nice respectable fish, Congrats...

I am no longer Stuck on the bank!!
Have you guys seen the big gator that lives in that lake you guys are fishing in? I fished that lake for a hour and caught 1 dink and saw a 10 foot gator stalking me. He probably ate all the bigger fish.

Peacocks After Dark....
I happend to be using a white Chatter bait mini. It was wierd though I think I stumbled upon a school of them, because it was one after another, then they stopped, I don't think they usually bite after dark. I am curious to know how far north these fish have gotten, Just curious????? I think everyone would be suprised how far they have traveled.

any peacock bass fishermen in here? i need some tips!
Rattle traps, and X-raps seem to work pretty good. I havn't found anything like live bait yet....

Peacocks After Dark....
I recently was out on my lake, and it started to get dark. We were fishing for whatever, Largemouths and Peacocks, whatever we could get. We had only 1 nice peacock and around 10 nice bass nothing special, and as I said before it started to get dark out, and out of nowhere the peacock bite turned on and we caught 5 peacocks in a row one after another. I didn't think they were active after dark but I guess they are. Needless to say i was suprised. Has anyone else caught them after dark? Just wondering..... Here's the best one, she went 4.0lbs

A 50 pounder!!!!!
I live in Wellington, and as you do, fish in the western areas quite a bit. Royal Palm and the surrounding areas. Here's another fish that I go after quite often......
-
A 50 pounder!!!!!
This one didn't really jump he would kinda stroll in then see me or the shore and take off and just rip drag like no tommorrow, that process repeated for about 7 or 8 min. till he tired out and kind of just laid there for me to pick up for a pic, then he swam off slow after the release.
-
Finally! My first jig fish!
Good fish, Never really had a knack for jig fishin down here in florida though, not enough cover in the areas I fish I guess. I love the artistic background on your pic though AWSOME.....
-
A 50 pounder!!!!!
I caught it on a good sized chunk of bread wrapped around a 1/0 worm hook. I don't know if they have records for these fish (Grass carp / white amur) because it is against the law to take them out their habitat. They are stocked into the water systems to control the vegitation. Therefore probably not recognized as a florida record eligable fish. And I have seen even bigger ones swimming around out there. (imagine that) Here's another one I caught about 35lbs or so.

A 50 pounder!!!!!
Here it is a real 50 pound... GRASS CARP......This thing had me all over my canal behind my house I am supprised I got it in, talk about powerful... It was fun until I had to pick it up for a photo, slimy and huge. What a great fish though.

Hook 'n Look - Peacock Bass
Yeah, I live in Palm Beach county and we got em all the way up here now, 85 miles north of Miami. I live on a lake that is full of them. They are fun, and these are the Butterfly peacocks in Florida, the big ones in S. America are Speckled Peacocks. The butterflys get to about 10 lbs I have only seen 5-6 lbers so far. Still a 5 lb peacock fights like a 15 lb largemouth.
-
Two for the price of one
You can't believe how aggressive those Peacocks are, I have had them chase hooked LM's all the way to the boat, sometime 2 or 3 of them following the hooked fish. It is fun to watch, I can't say that I have hooked 2 at the same time, yet....

08' PB
You could have just held the fish, or put it next to a rod or something, who really cares fishermen are supposed to exagerate a little, Right?
-
