  1. Count me in as well, my brother also. Saturdays would be the best day for me. Gotta work on Sundays.
  2. He's always doing something auto related, or taking care of the little ones. He never was into the fishing scene. Those 3 bar bass are starting to bite very good. (If you know what I mean)
  3. Well, I am down in the South East part of the state, and as far as 10lbers go you don't see them as often as everyone seems to think. I have fished in Florida for 25 years and I have yet to see a 10+. I have a few fish in the 7-8 lb class, but I am still waiting for that elusive 10 pounder. Good luck, you'll need some for a 10+.
  4. Me and brother Scott are gonna start back out there on the lake next Saturday if you want to plan something let me know, I usually go out Thursdays by myself. The pelicans are back so the shad must really be balled up.
  5. Down here in the south florida area we don't get the big blues anymore, but the 4-5 lbers are very fun off the beaches. What a fight they put up.
  6. It's hard to see, but here it is on the line with the rooster tail in it's fin.
  7. Its was the first day of real cool weather down here in south Florida that I had an opportunity to fish. Temps in the 60's Water temp dropping, should be perfect. Well I get out on the water and try almost everything I have to throw and nothing for almost 2 hours. Needless to say I am a little dissapointed. So I down size to small spinners and a small chatter bait which has produced when thing get slow for me in the past, and sure enough it seem like I catch every dink in the lake. Eventually I get a few in the 2 lb class So at least it wasn't a wash. So I am on my way back to my dock which is down a small connecting canal to the main lake, and I make a long cast near shore with a rooster tail. And as I am reeling it in I see a turtle right in line with my retrieve. As soon as I passed the turtle line starts to sing of my reel, I mean like big tarpon on the line singing. So I start following the beast the best I can with my trolling motor. I loose about 3/4 of my line before I finally get close and it makes another long run. So now I am almost 10 minutes in and don't have clue what I have on the line, not a turtle for sure, and most likely not a 30 lb bass. So another few minute pass and I finnally chase it down to discover I had something big fowl hooked right in the dorsal fin. Upon identification it was a Triploid Grass Carp and a fat one at that, 35 inches long and almost the same girth, Get your bass weight calcualators out on this one fellas. Sorry about the lengthy story but it was fun to say the least. Wound up with 16 bass and one HELLAVA carp.
  8. I purposly bought a 15 lb digital scale, so if I ever catch a fish that bottoms that scale out, I will have her mounted. Probably never happen to me. So all those ladys are safe unless.....LOL
  9. I catch them in the cast net, but never on hook. What do you catch them on? I think that is a blue tilapia, not a spotted tilapia.
  10. Never had that happen to me, but sure have lost my fair share of bigg'uns when they shake the d#*m hook loose during a head shake.
  11. Wellington / Royal Palm Beach Tearin' it up right now
  12. I live on the dead horse lake, so they say (it begins with W and ends with an N). And yes it is tough in the heat of summer for allot of reasons, but I caught a few nice ones over the summer. You just have to find em. Heres one of them
  13. I have had pretty good success, when they are in the area, with a good sized chunk of bread wrapped around a 2/0 sized hook. They like to eat off of the surface, you have to get a little lucky and hope your bread stays afloat long enough to get noticed. But the big ones will come along sooner or later. Good luck
  14. You had better check and see if Triploid grass carp have been stocked in that pond. If they are grass carp leave them alone, the fines for killing one are huge. The grass carp are longer and slimmer than common carp. they get very large though I have caught them to 50 lbs. If you want to catch them wait till you see them feeding and use bread on the surface, just make sure you release them unharmed.
  15. Down south here people call em specks or specked perch like Bassin Blvd said. Crappie sounds a little crappy. LOL
  16. Try doing a google search on Myan Chiclid That is exactly what it is. They are all over the place down a little south of you. They are a non native south american species that no knowledge of there introduction is know. They fight really good though for a smaller fish I have seen them up to 2 lbs.
  17. I had the same thing happen, but I was 3 miles offshore. A little finch must have been tired from his long ocean crossing, and he landed right on my fishing rod, and we had a hard time getting him to leave us alone. I guess he didn't want to fly back to shore. It was very entertaining.

So what is that, 9 dead fish today and 9 tommorow, aww why not go for 20 tommorow see how fast you start catching zero every time you go fishing, just a little friendly advice.
  19. Looks like a solid 3.5, except for the tail being a little darker, it looks like the same fish just a little fatter in the second pic. Nice lookin fish
  20. Looks like you guys had a nice day... The fish your daughter caught was a golden shiner, good sized one too.
  21. I went out this morning, and started at daybreak tried senkos and a crank bait for a while nothing back in shallow canals (water temp 85 Ouch) worked my way out on the lake and hooked into something huge on a stike pro crank, looks like a small myan chiclid, I think it was a big peacock bass but not sure it peeled off 50 feet of drag then the hook just released, oh well. I covered allot of water and still skunked, around 3 hours or so and the weather was deteriorating quickly. Finnally I put a boohyah spinner bait on, and 2 cast later and I got 1 about a pound and a half or so, but when i got him to the boat he shook his head and the blade on the spinner bait went flying into the water, So I went with my next best bait A chatterbait. Took 3 more casts BAM a nice 3 lber right near a ledge to 30 foot deep. I was happy to catch a few it looked like rain was coming quick. So I took my next cast parallel to the last cast along the same ledge, and sure enough it was on, I have had bad experiences with bigger fish on chatterbaits so it took me a long time to bring this big girl in, finnaly she gave up, 6-15 on the digi. Kinda long story but 3 fish in 4 hours, at least I got 1 big one.... Camera broke waiting to get it fixed sorry no pics She was 23.5".
  22. I live in south florida on a good sized lake system, the peacocks are here and run rampant I have seen them over 6 lbs and caught them over 4 lbs. I know there is some monsters in my lake. They are fun to catch for sure, florida has the butterfly peacocks not the speckled peacocks. The Butterflies get about 10 lbs max. (They are pretty)
  23. How ironic you caught a frog on a frog......LOL
  24. Yeah that's a pretty nice fish, the picture looks more like a painting than a pic, kinda has a cool look to it.
  25. Yeah, that water looks real nice, and sounds like it has some nice fish in there, especially if they can break 80 lb braided line.......twice......lol Nice spot and nice fish though.
