  1. The Peacock
  2. Went out yesterday, knowing bad weather was coming, we had perfect conditions for most of the morning the wind picked up and the fishing slowed by noon. we were done by 1 pm or so, it started raining and the wind was really moving by 2 pm. The best of the day was a 4-1 LM and a 3-3 peacock, Havn't seen any of these guys for a while so it was a suprize to get a decent sized one. Over all we caught 25 LM and the 1 peacock. So we will have the coldest temps of the year tonite 40s do you believe it. Enjoy
  3. Went out Saturday afternoon and the bigger bite was on. We caught 25 or so nice fish only a few small fish. My bro caught the big girl, she was 5 to 5 1/2 lbs. We probably caught 15 fish over 2.5 lbs. Got a real nice action shot of the big fish jumping out of the water. Enjoy
  4. Well, I went out with a friend, and we started off Ok, a couple of dinks andthen he got a decent one almost 3# then it slowed down for a while, the skies were blue, and a front had just passed thriough the previous night. We were throwing cranks and plastics for the most part expecting the fish to be on or near the shore. He got the big bite we were waiting for, and she put up a good fight, he finally boated her, 5-1 on the digi. Not too bad the first 5+ I have seen in a while. Overall about 18 -20 fish mostly small ones for me. Very good day on the lake though. It was a little cold in the morning (LOL) 60 degrees or so.
  5. I definately prefer the water in its blue state, compared to the white one. And to have to drill down three feet just to have a chance, not for me. I'll just wear shorts and put a little sun block on, and tough it out.
  6. Went out hit the rim canal and few dynamite holes yesterday, and got nothing a big zero on the big O. I threw everything I had at em, and nothing would bite. I havn't gone out on the lake in years, now I guess I know why. Lately I have only heard good things about the lake, so I guess I won't give up totally on it. There was some huge gators out though, we must have seen a 13 or 14 footer trolling around out there. If anyone has any advice on gettin'em out there, other than shiners, let me know.
  7. That cool shine you see is probably ice. LOL
  8. My brother and I went out to some golf course lakes to see how they were biting yesterday. Not to bad we finished off the day with 35 fish up to 5 lbs. Overall not too bad, we caught fish on everything from spinnerbait to topwater. I think it was the start of a really productive winter/spring season down here. Only took a few pics, First my bros almost 5 pounder, second my 3.5 pounder. Oh well i hope this helps some of you guys get through the pain of cabin fever.
  9. I think you have to get into mid to south Palm Beach county to even have a chance at catching them. And the farther south you go the bigger and more dense the populations become. The farthest north I have caught them is just north of Okeechobee Blvd in central Palm beach county. I have heard of people catching them in southern Jupiter during the warmer months. I got this 2 lber a few weeks ago in that spot. Good luck, plan a roadtrip if you want some of these little beauties.
  10. Oh, and the gators usually run away when they see you. Just keep your eyes open and they won't be a problem. Watch for snakes too.
  11. The best thing to do is google map the area and locate any fishable bodies of water in the area. Then after you have located and selected a few places to try, go ahead bring your fishin stuff and see if you can fish those spots, some times you will find new spots while your looking for the mapped ones. Or go to the local Bait and tackle shop, even though they are getting scarce down here thanks to BPS, Gander Mt. and other big sporting goods stores. Good luck, there is plenty of good fishable water in Stuart.

It has to be closely related to the Barramundi from Australia. Heres on I found on the net.

Looks allot like a austrailian barrimundi too me.
  14. I caught this fish about a year or so ago, she should have been 5+ but she went about 2.5. I caught it and said to myself, Wow look how skinny she is, must be and old girl off her last spawn. I look in her throat as I unhooked her, and to my suprize a 6 or 7 inch bloated senko was stuck in her stomach stickin out of her throat. She probably didn't make it even though I retreived the worm, no hook to be found.
  15. Sorry everyone I don't want 50 boats fishing a 300 yard section of canal, all I can tell you is that it is south. There was already 2 boats in the section fishing with us. I think they follow the food, there was allot of surface shad activity in the area. They were on the rapalas like stink on a monkey. Good luck, all you peacock hunters they are down there and chewing.
  16. Sorry guys, I do feel sorry for all you that have to cut holes in the water to fish this time of year. But, when I wake up and it is 50 degrees out that is what I consider to be cold (LOL) even though it was 70 degrees by noon. Those peacock bass really arn't a cold water species, so I was impressed that even in the cooler water they were still biting. Here's a few more.
  17. I went with a friend to newly discovered canal system in the south somewhere, and we had the absolute best day I have every experienced catching peacock bass. Wow, what a day, I can honestly say in 5 hours we caught 40 peacocks, and 15 LMs to 4.5 lbs, the average fish being around 2 lbs. Heres a few pics, we got tired of taking pics after about 20 or so, here's the better ones.
  18. I think all the Forida peacock bass are Butterfly peacocks. Here's one I caught just a few days ago about 18" 4+ lbs. Bassin, I havn't fished those canals yet, but I have heard good things about the peacocks population in them.
  19. Down here in S. florida the bite has been slow for the Large mouths, but these wierd looking bass won't seem to stay off the hook. (LOL) This one went 18 inches and around 4 lbs.
  20. I would love to join you guys, but I gotta work all day friday. Hope it comes together, and in the future Saturdays would be the best day for some of us.
  21. Singlehandedly the Peacock bass, probably the best freshwater fighter out there, too bad they don't live in cooled water temps though, so everyone could experience them as well.
  22. Havn't caught any yet, but have heard reports of pompano and blues at the juno pier.
