  1. Rochester, it's all "coke." Waitress: "What'll you have to drink?" Patron: "A large coke, I guess." Waitress: "What kind? Patron: "Orange." LOL, it isn't actually like that, but its a mix of soda and pop, sometimes soda-pop. As a kid, ew always said "pop."
  2. I guess in some people's eyes, I'll look like a thief. Funny, I don't consider it stealing when my employer wakes me up at 3:00 AM on a weekend because systems are down, and they need me to fix it. That's just part of the job. Since I am salary exempt, I don't get paid extra for that, and there's no such thing as "comp time." On the flip side, when my kids get hurt, and need to go to the doctor, my boss says, "Just go, and hurry!" He doesn't deduct that time. In the end, the people that do not produce are weeded out. As far as letting employees browse the internet at work, back when I ran a small retail pet shop with 25 employees, I set aside time for them to surf the net, and learn about new husbandry techniques, find new sources for livestock, and read up on new products. In the late 90s, the internet was a huge teaching opportunity, funny thing was, they thought they were getting paid to "play."
  3. Tom,. ALL of my big fish are well post spawn. None were sight fished. I don't think its as simple as you say.
  4. I only have a few fives on them up here in NY....The big secret is to fish them just outside of cover. Docks, pads - specifically trails ion the pads, inside weed edges, reed edges, etc.
  5. Big fish baits aren't to be taken lightly. I own a couple Clones. They are the real deal. A few of the biggest fish caught from kayak in VA came on Capt. Ken's frogs last year. We're talking 8 lb.+ fish. Personally,. I hate the stock hooks. Use a Gammy or Owner Kahle style hook.
  6. I'd be more angry (as a taxpayer) that the school allowed one guy, a desk side IT technician, to implement school policy. If the district cared, then they would "white sheet" the network.
  7. Sometimes I wonder if I'd prefer that. It's feast or famine here. At least the pay is steady, and to be honest, I hate the slow times. Makes me nervous. I can pretty much guarantee I add more revenue at my company than you got out of any of your employees. It's the nature of the business. I got into it knowing, some weeks would be incredibly boring, and only entail 20 hours of "easy" work, while other weeks would be 80 hours of intense, difficult work under crazy deadlines. I'm not even sure why I'm explaining any of this...guess people don't understand that good work ethics doesn't necessarily mean constant effort. I get paid to think, dream, and carry out vision. Nothing worse than someone that stays busy all the time, adding no value.
  8. I'm not payed by the hour. I get paid the same whether it takes 20 hours of effort or 80 hours of effort to provide my services.
  9. KVD Line & Lure Conditioner slows the fading and reduces bleeding greatly.
  10. There's three on this page: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-videos/#1
  11. Did you try the "Videos" link in the nav bar?
  12. Back in the early 90s there was a cork shortage, and thus the "split grip" was born.
  13. You didn't. Good stuff in there.
  14. I have been using a Palomar with fluoro ranging from 4# diameter to 100# for many years without any abnormal issues. Some pretty big fish, too, including northerns, brown, and steelhead trout. Fluoro separates the men from the boys when it comes to knot tying. If there is a kink in the line before the knot on the mainline, then you failed, tie again. I know that sounds abrupt, but it's the hard truth. As for Vanish....my friends have a saying, "Vanish, it's what happens to you fish when using it." LOL. That said, my friend Noel swears by the stuff, but he's using it in open water: I personally don't think it's a good bass line. Now for fishing spinnerbaits with copoly, I couldn't agree more. P-line CXX in 10 or 12# should work fine. In fact, you can use a plain old improved cinch knot with it, and it'll never give if you tie it right.
  15. There's no real difference. I have red on a spinning rig, simply because they didn't have green or yellow, my two favorite colors. It works fine, LOL:
  16. My boss doesn't care what I do. I'm productive and as long as I continue to pump out what an 18 person team could not, he's happy. If browsing forums while I'm waiting for code to compile makes more productive, then so be it. Some would argue that I could be busy working during that time. I say, there's only so much you can pay a guy, or push a guy to in a day without burning out. If company policy prohibits casual and occasional browsing, then tough nuts. Personally, I think the lazy get weeded out eventually, and the actual producers will use their smart phones to get around it all.
  17. That's kind of a loaded question, since it depends on where and what you're fishing, and what location. That said, I often find midday fishing slow. But if I go back and look at the time stamps on the pictures of my top 10 catches, 9 of them are from between 10 AM and 2 PM. Go figure. You should take a spin around our articles section, and learn about seasonal patterns. Bass don't just get up and leave the area from one minute to the next, their movements are often somewhat slow and predictable, so if your on bass in the morning, chances are you're on them in midday as well. You just need to adjust to their activity level and preferences.
  18. 55-70° is a VERY broad temperature range, and could mean a few weeks after ice out to post spawn, even summer pattern. It could be the difference between open water, and completely weed choked as well. Pond fishing is all about dealing with what the pond hands you. Be specific, what do you want help with?
  19. It really depends. I voted 4 days, since that's probably average. To me, jeans aren't even "right" until at least 12 hours of wearing, and after that, it's a matter of what you were doing in them.
  20. Vanish isn't very abrasion resistant. Its meant to be a stretchy, open water line, and originally designed for the walleye market. I wouldn't use it any situation that involved cover.
  21. Posts like this make me proud to be a member.
  22. It isn't going to ruin the hook. Use a pair of pliers or hemostats. I mash the barbs on my trout hooks now, for easy release, and tiny #10 hooks still hold up to double digit steelhead no problem.
  23. Chris, I'm guilty of that move even WITHOUT the trailer, LMAO.
  24. Really nice job, Dean!
  25. Not really. It isn't super glue at all. It melts the plastic temporarily.
