I know someone that finished a day of fishing with a spook attached to his head... And I've had a crankbait earring once... At least you're OK now. Get a tetanus shot, man! Great story.
  2. I like them on a jig as well. Ball heads or football heads work well, hook up easily, and don't hinder the action of the bait.
  3. No, it sinks. You forgot to add the weight of the vessel. Fill a millk jug with lake water. Drop in lake. Observe. All they're saying is use the jugs to weigh down a cover. Assuming they are in the water is probably wrong anyway. I see it quite a bit up here. Must work. Not sure if it would on the moon - I don't think there's water up there.
  4. If we can get some warm weather, in the upper 70s for a week, then start looking. If you have a shallow pond you can check out, use it as a "prediction" water.
  5. Yes, I prefer a faster taper and a faster reel.
  6. Those "fan marks," are probably from water fowl. Saw some Canada Geese leaving patches that looked like beds.
  7. If you're in the "right stuff," a simple shake of the jig will release the weeds, and half the time get you bit.
  8. Most Abu stuff is interchangeable.
  9. Weedguards help keep the jig pinned in the fish's face. They work better for wood and rocks than weeds. For that, the skirt and head shape are more crucial.
  10. Here you go smarty pants, thank me later, LOL. http://nbcsports.msn...ports-outdoors/
  11. They were more like $160 retail. I saw Gander blowing Avids out the door at 40% off this spring.....added to my spinning arsenal on that deal. Keep your eyes open, and never pay retail!
  12. Just give me a chance to tighten the screws.....I'll be putting the pressure on Dwight. Heck, we might even join forces to destroy all your hopes, LOL.
  13. Happy Birthday Sam.
  14. You get more sunburn as thee day progressed, LOL. Awesome fish man, love that 1st one.
  15. There's always one dentist in ten that doesn't believe in toothpaste.
  16. Actually, a better answer is, "not always, almost never, unless there are special circumstances," LOL. So, that begs the question.....which two are you looking to switch out?
  17. "The Jerk Man" should be your new nickname. Awesome fish Dwight!
  18. I would follow up with better hooksets. An x-fast taper on the rod helps you get into backbone real quick on a hookset with a chatterbait.
  19. I like the BPS Crankin' Sticks, too. I now use Saint Croix Avid graphite crankers. They're better than the BPS (lighter, more sensitive, better components, better service plan) but only marginally better on the water.
  20. It depends on who is doing the casting.
  21. Use what feels natural to you. I use both for casting gear.
  22. So, should we call you wingstopdoug? Congrats on the new job and raise.
  23. I think it's safe to assume that the 16' Single Console Sylvan is bass boat in freshwater, not a submarine  But, yes, depending on the specific gravity, saltwater would weight more.
  24. You do have good stuff. Some might even say better.
