  1. I've cast both reels with 50# braid, and haven't noticed much difference. The Chronarch is better for me, ergonomically.
  2. The federal govt. decides to put a 25% tax on top of sales tax, and you are going to see an economy based on bartering, and black markets. I have my finger on the political trigger. Keep it easy
  3. My thoughts? Quick release gives the fish MAXIMUM chances at survival. Catch and release fishing is a sport the evolved from hunting for food. It's not perfect. All I can add, is I hate the dreaded tongue piercing as much as the gill hooking. The tongue job is another almost always deadly injury if you hit that one artery. Great post, Chris!
  4. If I'm not mistaken, "fused" is as in thermally fused, which would mean applying heat holds the fibers together. That suggests a chemical or phase change of the original material. Braided would mean the fibers are mechanically joined by weaving them together. Why someone hasn't done thermally fused, braided line is beyond my understanding of line making. Traditionally, braided lines have had a higher break strength per diameter than thermally fused lines.
  5. There's a crystallized glue that comes with the SC repair kit. Its the "nuts" as my dad would say. Way better than hot glue, though that works.
  6. Call Powell, they'll tell you the size you need, and might even send you one. I know for $5, I can just have one sent from Saint Croix by visiting their website.
  7. LMBO at Nate Its a big old fantail goldfish for sure.
  8. Hmmmm. I think you want that washer free. When the drag releases, both the washer and the spool are spinning on the shaft. It probably isn't going to cause anything, but glue and reels just don't get along in my head, LOL. Edit.....try Loctite Blue thread locker to hold it to the spool. That way it is removable.
  9. It's not even that its before or after skirts and trailers are added, what they say is a 1/4 oz. jig may not even be that close. If you are that worried about specifics, get a gram scale. I simply use on the water observation to see if the weight is doing what I need it to do that day.
  10. I don't have a hard time with it. I've seen it too, with live crawfish. Maybe they are the one or two fish out of millions that have been caught that actually don't like the hook?
  11. Solid plastic baits that you t-rig unweighted, and buzz acros the surface. Some other examples: Zoom Horny Toad, Ragetail Toad, Stanley Ribbit (my fave), Gambler Caner Toad, BPS Humpin Toad, and many others.
  12. I'm pretty sure that show was on two years ago. It's long gone now.
  13. What would be funnier is a bear jumping out of a tree to wrestle him.
  14. That's a wayyy better description of what I was originally referring to, "reeling to one side."
  15. You use the washers you mentioned coming with your Sedona. You can also call the reel manu's US service line, and get them. You might be able to find something at the hardware store. Its just a nylon washer - maybe they'd have it. Home Depot has surprised me sometimes......
  16. You don't "make a shim," you simply install/remove a nylon washer. Add to shift the bulk of line on the spool to the base, remove to shift it to the lip. I prefer the line to fill evenly on a spinning reel.
  17. Just looked him up on baseball-reference.com......now I know why I remember him, LOL. 2007 ALDS..... .364 BA, .500 OBP, .636 SLG, 3 runs scored. Not a bad short series. Glad he's still playing.
  18. So its upgraded fused line? The prefix "nano" is a big turn off for me, I gotta admit. The description of it seemed a bit vague. I'd have to actually have it hand to see if I'd even use it. Early web reviews are tough to make a decision by.
  19. I think its just a case of not understanding what the rig is supposed to do, and what fishing problems it solves. http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/Texas_Carolina_bass_fishing.html
  20. You can add a shim in under that spool to help it load more evenly.

Nascar was similar 20 years ago. Now look at the Gillette Young Guns. Just saying....

I was thinking much, much bigger than Crown Royal or Under Armour. Like Exxon, Wal Mart, GE, AT&T, IBM, JP Morgan, etc. And I don't mean something like a Toyota Tundra wrap. I'm talking spokesperson level. Think Mike Rowe and Ford.
  23. Thanks Matt. Doesn't sound easy, coming up with something new. I wish I had more talent in that department - you baitmakers always impress me with how and why of your baits.
  24. Extreme temps are bad for anything. I wouldn't leave my gear in a hot car, nor would I leave it in freezing temps.
  25. SEIYGE!!!!! Looks like you got 'em!
