  1. Looks like there is some paracord between the Talons to rest them on. Clever trick.
  2. I prepare my gear for what I want to start with. That isn't always what is tied on when I get home, nor do I always use all the rigs.
  3. Why would that cause a genetic mutation?
  4. Long fins is a fairly common genetic mutation in fish. It is probably the first one you see in aquarium specimens. Think about the common guppy. They don't naturally have those long fins. It's not surprising to see it in nature. It isn't from any pollutants in the water.
  5. Gary (.ghoti.) isn't too far from there. He used it for years without issue, until he he did. Most of my customers' reels that came back the next year had it happen. I used it per their request at the time.
  6. Reel butter turns brown. Hot Sauce does too, and leaves brown stains on everything. Several others that used to swear by all eventually see the same thing, including @.ghoti. who used argue with me on the phone about it, lol.. The stuff is garbage. I don't know anything about Lucas products, never tried them.

    Puppy teeth are the worst.

The size difference can be a funny thing. My Bailey is only around 35-40 lbs., but she knows hiw to dominate Coltrane, who is around 115 lbs. now by using his weight against him. When they play rough, she uses the old sweep the leg Johnny trick. Coltrane goes down like a ton of bricks and she pounces on him pinning him. The frackus sounds like a brutal dog fight, but they love it. Five minutes later they are curled up sleeping next to each other.
  9. Both excellent rods that I own more than one of.
  10. I'd come up with some solution that wasn't permanent and used some of those rod holders.
  11. Don't do that, they make great tomato stakes!
  12. It's likely their problem had nothing to do with quality, and what they were getting in return for pimping the gear.
  13. Use a rope fly. It won't work for anything else though.
  14. I don't know about the frequency, but if a fish will fit in piscivorous fish's mouth, then it will likely eat it, if it's in the mood to eat.
  15. I cast it out, let it settle, and then reel it in really fast, cut it off, and fish a Texas Rig instead ?
  16. Welcome to the north.
  17. I don't even wet my knots anymore. Just pull the tight gently and slowly. Hasn't been any issues.
  18. I doubt you can return it after a year. Chalk it up to a lesson learned.
  19. Corrosion Tech makes some good oils. I like ReelX specifically for the line roller. In a pinch, it'll often free up a toasted bearing long enough until you order a replacement. I've never tried their grease.
  20. It's a European carry all!
  21. The Texas rig today is one terminal rig. It has nothing to do with line, rod, reel, or bait. It's nothing more. It solves the problem of getting a bait through the weeds and to the fish. The rig has a special place for me. A man on a bass boat caught two bass near our dock, in the weeds. I asked home how he did that. He showed me the rig, how to tie it up, and even gave me a few hooks and sinkers, and a bag of Culprit worms. My entire idea of bass fishing was turned on end and a whole bunch of water was unlocked by that. I was probably around 12.
  22. The boat rescue video has always resonated with me. So many average people stepping up to become heros. I don't want to take away from firemen and police running into burning towers to help. My FIL is a fireman. I get it. It's amazing to me. The boat rescue is just another example of humanity that day. @slonezp thanks for posting that. I was gonna dig it up. I was in my apartment above my now wife's apartment when I turned in the news. I called her to tell her what was going on. When she came up, the second plane hit.
  23. Always match your shoes and belt to your purse!
