Crawdad colors and info all you need to match the hatch
Nothing beats catching a little critter in the lake you're fishing. And really, you want to catch a vulnerable, freshly molted crab. Those are the ones the fish want - less work. Up here, "soft shells" often have quite a bit of blue in them.

cold water fishing
My good friend Burnie has written an article or two about using jerk (or what should be called pause baits) up north. This is from a few years back, and a few things about gear have been updated, but the message is the same: http://www.burniehaney.com/files/Cold_Water_Jerkbaits_LOO_Spring_09__1_.pdf

Triggers for pre-spawn/spawn
Gestation wouldn't occur until AFTER the eggs were fertilized. So that would be a POST SPAWN event, LOL. Females can spawn all summer, with several males, so I'd wager any skein was loosened up long before that. If they don't spawn, they are just absorbed back into their bodies. Length of daylight, moon phase, and temperature all seem to have tons of documentation supporting their effect on spawn timing. Bottom line, you gotta be on the water just about every day to see the clues.

Browning, Raven, G.Loomis, St. Croix... That happens to be a cheapo Browning Six Rivers.

Now that's standing behind your product.
That is illegal in the USA. Check out the Magnuson-Ross Act. As long as she can prove she had the oil changes done with an oil that meets Toyota specs, they can not deny the warranty. Unless she signed up for one of those "Free tires for life" things that some dealers offer. Many require that all service be done at the dealership in order to qualify. I'd bet it's still illegal, if someone were to push it. Afterall, oil changes have nothing to do with tire wear. I could see a warranty like that insisting you bring it every 5k miles for a rotate/balance, but not all service. Its basically a coupon. No more illegal than points from Bass Pro or Dick's. :

best flick shake stuff?
I like Zappu heads in light to moderate cover. The straight line tie gets through better without picking up weeds. Otherwise, either Jackall heads or Keitech heads work very well. The Keitechs have a bait holder, so they're a little less singular in purpose.

Looks like a beautifully made rod. They need to make it in these specs, though ;D

SPLIT from Kayak thread. How do YOU go solo? Canoe, float tube, john, etc...
Yes, cookie cutter, though caught in open water, on a spoon. Bone jarring strikes - no need for delicate gear (though that was my old Kistler DS rod, LOL) to detect the bite. My favorite way to fish for them.

Is there a bigger product sleeper than Roland Martin???
Wow, four pages worth of basically slamming a guy that got to do what NO ONE here has, which is fish for a living...... We're done here.

- Crankin rod for ripping lipless 1/2 oz- 3/4 oz lures
Be careful with St. Croix's MH-F. Its a bit heavier than most other manufacturers. You'll know what's right when you get it in your hands.- Now that's standing behind your product.
Yep, I'm running that deal on the truck. Did the math, and I'm saving about $500.- Crankin rod for ripping lipless 1/2 oz- 3/4 oz lures
Actually the tip is about the same as a MM rated rod, but less of the rod flexes, the but the medium power of the rod offers plenty of flex to protect the trebles. When you're ripping traps through weeds, a faster taper works better. The rod itself reacts quicker to you snapping the lure off the weeds, which means less fouling.- Smallies have ruined me
The point is, he knows what he knows from TV, and a few fish he's caught. Obviously, that's carries more clout than decades of fishing experience. Its a disturbing trend, really. I mean, why go out and learn from reality, when the internet is so fast and easy? Obviously, I'm being facetious. When guys like Dwight, Kent, myself and others post about our experiences, you young guys might want to listen. I know I wouldn't have been able to catch ANY of the big fish I've caught without listening to other, more experienced anglers. There's nothing wrong with not being an expert.- Swimbaits!
Flipping rods didn't work out so well with swimbaits for me. You might look at a swimbait stick baits that size. Okuma and Daiwa both make affordable sticks. Stepping it up, a custom version of the Saint Croix LTBC79HF is what I use.- Crankin rod for ripping lipless 1/2 oz- 3/4 oz lures
I use an LTBC70MF for ripping lipless baits. - Crankin rod for ripping lipless 1/2 oz- 3/4 oz lures
