  1. 28' of water, 5 lbs. 12 oz.
  2. 18" of water. 5 lbs.
  3. I don't do any of the post work anymore, unless its getting printed big. otherwise, simple ACR adjustments.
  4. You guys can share the praise. That picture has what so many otherwise "nice" shots don't: A person. Its called "phony subject." the picture is of the mountains, and water, and the lines and balance/contrast they create. But toss in you wading the lake, you have a sense scope and added interest. It takes a "nice" shot to a great one.
  5. Links dead! Fix it! Weird. Try this.
  6. Best pic in months. Period.
  7. Then straighten it. Its perfect, a wall hanger, but its crooked, and making me a little insane.
  8. I'll send you a message when I'm ready to start haha. In Pa, you can collect any native species as long as you have a fishing license (still have to follow creel and size limits) and they aren't endangered. I think there are special regulations on Pike, but I'm not going for them. There are also regulations on the nets you can use (size and type limits). I hear NY is much more strict on obtaining fish. I did my collecting in the NJ Pine Barrons.
  9. Fix that horizon, water runs downhill. Whiteface, from Upper Saranac Lake:
  10. Looks like another Hardbodyz based reel, similar to the Capricorns I have. Same price range too, though I got mine at 1/2 off. That gear ratio is off set by spool diameter on the Daiwa ABS spools. You'd have to check the IPT, but I believe they close. I know its only like a 2" difference comparing a Shimano 2500 to a Daiwa 2500.
  11. Here's your drop shot manual: http://www.richz.com/fishing/articles/dropshot.html
  12. Key is line attached. I've used the chain type and the extending pole type and both work just fine. If you put that one on your line and still cant free the lure, what then? Break the line and lose both lure and retriever? Don't know what these cost, but the heaviest dipsey sinker you can find and a cheap snap probably cost alot less and would do the same thing. JMHO. Never had that come up in three years. Its 100%, so far.
  13. ^^^^^ Meanwhile, in Rochester.....
  14. I use one with a line attached and entanglement chains. That way, if the bait is caught in wood, I can pull the hooks out.
  15. Catt needs to be cajoled by a luremaker before he tries anything new!
  16. I hated mine at first. For this one, getting the right reel on it matters. Try before you buy. once you have comfortable match, its a very versatile rod. A little bit more powerful than most MH, but great.
  17. Nope. Fish grow throughout their entire lifespan, until near the end, when the shrink a little bit. They have a range, and if the tank is big enough to support good water quality, then they are stunted or die. Nate, if you're really interested in natives, then PM me. We can talk over the phone about it. Your best bet, get proper permits to collect natives, and target the pygmy sunfish species.
  18. I can bring these Sunday, for you to handle: AVS63MLXF AVC70MHF AVC68MXF AVC70MM AVC70MHM I have a few more, but they're on the bench getting the cork redone. Some of the ones above are already done, and I'll share what DVT Mike told me on how to do it.
  19. Light tents are quick, and easy. Anyone can get cooking with some great pictures with them. But, as you progress, you'll find they are limiting. Notice you are losing the back edges of the product to the background. that lack of definition isn't a big deal, but if the customer says they don't like it, you gotta be able to react. These look nice. I'd say, if the reels had line on them, and a bait was attached, the grime would be acceptable. But if you're featuring the reel, its got to be the hero. Heroes don't have gunk on them. All in all, A+ work. If you're interested in lighting product shoots, here's a link to a post I made a couple years ago: http://photocamel.com/forum/lighting-technique/18815-anatomy-product-shoot-part-i-lots-images.html It continues to processing. I'll mention, I don't use that workflow anymore. Way too bulky. Adobe Camera Raw has pretty much caught up with all the editing shown in Part II, so I do 90% in there. Photoshop is for minor touch ups these days.
  20. So, are going to fish two baits above a weight, or will the weight be a bait, like a jig or shaky head? Personally, I've only done the former for panfish, and it works well when they are rockin'. Other times, its a put off to the fish. With the latter version, you'll have to change the hook for one that works better with a hookset, like Owner Downshot Offset hooks. You don't want a reel set hook mixed with a snap set hook.
  21. To the doubters....it does make a difference, and when it does, its huge. I'll leave it at that. Nice tip whittler.
  22. What's wrong with the ACS seat? They're uncomfortable for me, and the tip of the trigger gets mangled. I'm trying to think what rod I had used that seat, but drawing a blank. Is there a Fenwick with it? Anyway, didn't work for me. Apparently others as well.
  23. Try 200, and drop the gain to where your bait is a thin line. I'm using an HB color unit, so its a little touchy. The Eagle 502 unit I've been playing with seems better without "tuning."
  24. Is is legal in WI?
  25. 15 to 40 FOW. You're probably running at 83, or blend 83/200 mode. Or you're behind the butt seat. I'm generally in my kayak, or in the back of a boat. Either way, the longer rod doesn't work. I bought the rod for flick shakes and docks, bu it works so well for DS, that's what it does now. I like it so much, I'll probably get two more. AVS63MLXF/CI4 2500. The TD is about 30" in front of my right foot:
