  1. Yeah, braid is a no-no. 8# Suffix Siege, treated with either KVD L&L or Real magic (never both!), and fluoro leader is all you need for winter steelhead.
  2. That's why I go in the middle of winter.

  6. Shore, boat, what type of waters? All makes a difference.
  7. Two different tools....in my mind the most important aspects to consider are braid floats, fluoro sinks.
  8. Keeps hooks and line from other rods getting caught up. I know guys that have snapped tips from getting tangled up. Spinning rods are the worst offenders.
  9. Just saw your FB update....very, very sorry to hear that. My condolences to you and your family.
  10. How many wraps? I use ten up, and ten back on 15# Power Pro. Also, make sure the "rabbit" goes back through the loop on the side it came through. I've had leaders snap, and even mainline, but never had a proper Alberto fail.

  14. You just need to search for them. A good GPS/graph unit is key. Once you find a few, you'll find a bunch.
  15. Can you keep catching them like this all the way up until the lakes freeze? Or until I can't handle the cold...lol Yes, pretty much. Toss in some Buddies for the really cold days. The real trick is finding the fish, it gets REAL specific.
  16. Tough to beat a Hopkins Shorty Spoon or drop shot rigged minnow bait this time of year.
  17. Well, I tried Sam Adams Latitude 48 IPA, and it pretty much sucked. Has a finish reminiscent of licking an ashtray.
  18. Some of the redundancy can be annoying, but repetition keeps your mind sharp. Also, I'll see things that are new, or give me a new idea all the time. If no one posts, then there's no forum. That does sound like a cool feature though.
  19. Here's a very good article: http://www.richz.com/fishing/blog/?page_id=552
  20. See if you can get the specs off the broken rod. Just about ANY spinning reel in the 100-150 range is going to be a fine reel.
  21. More likely its a worn/broken bail arm. I've seen this quite a bit, even on newer reels. It causes the line guide to rest lower than it should.
  22. I was thinking white bass myself, too. No fin spines left to tell, though. The other fish that looks close is a ruffe, but I don't think they're in Erie.
  23. Adding spacers would shift the load to the bottom.
  24. LOL, you're too sensitive today. I love messing with semantics. Yeah, its pretty well known that Dick's has a pretty liberal return policy. As long as you didn't walk out of the store, and break the rod over your knee, they'll usually oblige. Just don't abuse the system, or that policy goes away.
  25. Happy Birthday!
