  1. Very true. You definitely want to avoid frequent hypoglycemia, but when I was finally taking insulin, I suffered from temporary blindness for about a month, until my lens adjusted to the new density of the gel in my eyes. Crazy stuff. I do a 5 hour energy for tournaments, but mostly for the last couple hours and drive home. Not sure if its any better, but there are less stops to the bathroom afterward. Coffee just kills me, LOL.
  2. Oh, and my buddies down in VA call stripers "rockfish," LOL. Common names can get confusing.
  3. That's the "120" rule. If the air and water temps don't add up to 120, you got problems if you fall in.
  4. Thanks, and thanks. You can probably still find NIB Capricorns on eBay. That's a rock bass, similar to a warmouth. Kids have to wear PDFs all the time, and everyone has to from Nov.1 to April 1. I have a Mustang, and I generally keep it on, especially in tournaments when I'm in the back of the boat. I'm a pretty strong swimmer, but my worry is conking my head, and falling in.
  5. Very similar to the Z, but not new. They're Capricorns that I bought a few years ago on clearance at Dick's for $40. Here's my oldest with a 1500:
  6. I own two Stradics, a 1000 FG and a 2500 CI4. I work on about 20 Saharas each winter. The only real technical differences are in the drags and the oscillation. Obviously, the CI4 weighs much, much less. The Sahara uses an offset cam, with can wear out, and get a little sloppy. The Stradics use a worm gear, which have some inherent spool slop (about 1/16"), but pretty much never wear out. The Stradic has a sealed 7 washer drag, and is easily upgraded to Carbontex. I can't remember, but I think the Sahara has a two washer drag (maybe that's the Sedona). The Carbontex washers for the Stradic fit the Sahara. At any rate, all the Shimano spinners are really well made reels, even the lower end Sedona is a cracker. I'm luke warm about my older Stradic FG, especially compared to my newer Daiwas. However, I LOVE my CI4.
  7. I'm a Type 1 diabetic. I occasionally drink the low carb version of Monster. Its just 12 grams of carb in a can. Compared to about 70 in a Pepsi or Coke.
  8. Yep, traps work, especially firetiger. Be sure to put those big pike back.
  9. If you're picky about how the run and sit in the water, you'll have to get a bunch of them to get a few that all behave the same. If you're just looking for a bait to get in the zone, then that's a good deal.
  10. The blood glucose # will vary, but the HbA1C of 6.1 is outstanding. Anything 6 or below is normal. You probably feel like you have more energy as well. I know I did, once I got things under control.
  11. I'm sure they work fine, but I am loath to try ANYTHING new by Rapala - too much inconsistency. I'll stick to Staysees and Pointer DDs for now.
  12. Guess you mean baitcasters only. There is a $12 spinner there. And a $69 baitcaster. Maybe you're looking at the Tournament page.
  13. The bow in your line has more to do with the line's diameter and how much line is out than density.
  14. Good word of mouth alone doesn't tell me anything. It depends on whose mouth it comes from, and context. Most people like what they have, simply because its all they know. And that's fine, but rarely can you find someone that can compare and contrast two products fairly.
  15. And probably not a "perfectly healthy man." :-?
  16. Well, yeah. Can't buy it if doesn't have price. Still haven't answered the original question. I'm jerking your chain. You mean if you have $100, and the reel is $150, its out of the question.
  17. Gotcha, been raining here too. Turned to clumpy white stuff by noon, though. :
  18. Cost? Everything costs. Do you mean value? What do you value then? That's the question.
  19. I've seen the Powertrip drinks. They look like a small time operation. Rubino's Sub Shop in Webster sells them here.
  20. Nice ones! Really fat! Was this yesterday?
  21. Head and body shape all wrong for a rock bass. The fish above is def. a greenie - bad news for ponds, look it up. This is a rocky:
