  1. You really don't know what you are talking about. Seriously dude. I'm done with your bs. Spinning rod, 15# Power Pro, 4 or 6 lb. fluoro leader, 5-0 smallie:
  2. Votes are pretty much split down the middle. Funny thing is, I posted this on a local board, and most actually took it seriously. Maybe says more about regional tastes in hats, LMAO.
  3. I never stated that most of my experience was with baitcasting gear. My stance has always been use the gear appropriate to the conditions, and what is comfortable to you. Telling someone to string up their spinning reel with 10-15 lb. P-line is terrible advice. That's realism, not condescension. Ask 50 anglers that have used this line, to a man they'll say its not the best route. If one feels the need line with that high a breaking strength, then braid is a better choice.
  4. Unless you are using an 8000 series spinning reel, Id pass on the 10-15 lb. CXX - that's just terrible advice. I don't go over 8 lb. CXX on bass spinning tackle. The bigger stuff is for baitcasters.
  5. I'm not mad dude, its all good. ;D
  6. Actually Dwight, you and a few others were right, its the same fish. the original point is, get a scale. Right now, if you don't have one. The other point is a photograph is a terrible way to document a big catch, if no other measurements are taken. The hat, well, its warm.
  7. Nice. ;D Here's one I found of ginger boy:
  8. St. Croix Premier PS66MLF3. My buddy has this rod, and its great.
  9. Autism is a spectrum disorder, and nothing like ADD or ADHD. ******************************************************** These are real disorders, and nothing is really new, we just now have names to label the diagnosis. Whether these disorders are over diagnosed, misdiagnosed, or that many are over medicated is a totally different issue. For some kids, its real. For their caretakers its more work than many parents can comprehend.
  10. Hate to say this, but you should have been writing those letters starting back in October. This is not new news: http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/bassmaster/conservation/news/story?page=b_con_FedsAccess_20091005 The thought is that this is primarily aimed at commercial fishing, though no distinction is made in their interim report, released last fall. That's the scary part, Fed controlling fishing rights. If you haven't already started, I recommend monthly letters to your local representatives.
  11. I'm keeping the hat, and have a few scales. The exercise is to bring up two points.
  12. The current Shimano design does not feature bearing located on the spool shaft like this.
  13. While I agree that lithium grease works great on gears, I don't think there's any real appreciable difference between that and something like Shimano Star Drag or Cal's grease. If dirt is getting inside the crank side plate, and actually fouling the interior workings, then I'd question the operating environment, and perhaps recommend a reel suited for saltwater use. Its also important to note that when heat is an issue, you want something that will handle it, and drag grease is up to the task. Probably nothing anyone would run into in typical bass fishing, though. As far as the OP's issue, I'm a little confounded. AFAIK, they have been using Star Drag Grease on gears and worm drive, but perhaps I'm wrong and they are using Permalub. It seems crummy that you'd have to break a brand new reel down to get it work properly. My advice has always been the same with brand new reels: fish it like you stole it while its under warranty, lubing bearings at usual intervals. Once the warranty is up, have it professionally serviced.
  14. The hat stays. With all this encouragement, I'll probably Photochop it into every picture, LOL.... So, which is bigger?
  15. Sorry guys, no offense, but I just ain't buying it. 8-) While you're pulling out tangles and trolling your twisties out,I'll be fishing, LOL.
  16. Vote your conscience!
  17. Pop Quiz. Which fish is bigger? Exhibit A: Exhibit B:
  18. So are grand pianos. And safes. Avoid Acme Moving Co. ;D
  19. Washington State record LMB is 11.57 lbs. Chances are, the 15 lb. will be fine.
  20. All that matters is that box says "CXX" on it.
  21. I used to do this, but it works better if you fill the reel using the pencil/chopstick method, with the line coming off the bottom of the filler spool. Much less twist this way. For the OP, if you need more than 8# line on your spinner, you will have better luck with braided line, Like Power Pro. 15-20# works great on 1500 to 3000 size reels.
  22. Mostly let it sit. The bait should float the hook. Moving will stir up a little silt, and that can be a good thing. You might also try a small spoon, to rile up interest, and then finish with the slower bait.
  23. im kinda on the fence about this one. ive had bass take the bait on the fall, pick it up off the bottom , and take it while its being crept/drug/hopped along the bottom so there is not 100% to this imo. it depends on what the fish want that day. What's there to be on the fence about? If they aren't picking it up off the bottom, then what's the point? No point in doing one thing, if its the other that is getting bit. What I was pointing out was the why part of the popping retrieve getting bit, not that dragging worms won't catch.
  24. I just measure them with a set of calipers. I think they were like $5 at the hardware store. A T-pin from the office, with a bent tip works fine to pull bearings. Spool Bearing removal: http://www.***/education/spool-shaft-bearing-retainer-pin-removal.html
  25. I don't even know why this is an argument or debate. Drag washers wear out, and stock Revo s/SX/STX do not hold up to the rated max drag over their life. I've talked to Smooth Drags about a possible reason, and the only thing they could come up with is the dry coating process. Smooth Drag upgrade washers have been holding up for years in my customer's reels. They are what they say they are.
