Interesting breakdown on various styles and techniques of fishing.
I saw three seconds of scrolling right in an Excel spreadsheet and closed it.

That Thing You Do. . . . .
I'm not sure there's anything I do differently. I do feel like I think differently about things. I can't help but to wonder why something is. I try to avoid assigning an explanation, but it's human nature to to do it. The more time I spend on the water, I notice more things that just don't make sense.

Shimano Spinning Reel Maintenance
Forgot about that stuff! I keep a can of it in my boat and truck. It's aerosol and $10/can.

Would You Fish Out This? Could You?
While my reasons are different, I'd be looking at much bigger if I was thinking about leaving it moored somewhere, but I prefer to trailer, so there's a weight cutoff. Whenever there's a bad storm in coastal areas, I'm always dumbfounded at all the smaller boats (<30') that are left behind. It seems like a no brainer to grab your trailer and yank it when a storm is impending, but I guess it's a totally different mentality. Many people don't even have a trailer. It's way less expensive install a lifting eye on the bow, and let a marina deal with launch and removal.

Would You Fish Out This? Could You?
I took a really close look at this and if I was more than 75% out in the big lake, it would make the list. The helm seating is DOPE. I also like the fell bench in the back. It lacks a proper conversion to platform for the stern, and the bow is way too high for largemouth fishing in the bays. It's probably perfect for what your doing, and I would be taking some big water excursions for sure in it. I've liked Yellowfin since I saw one a dude brought up from FL. I was able to chat with him a bit, and the boat was perfection. The layout is pretty close to what I would want, plus max HP is up there too. Unfortunately, there are no dealers anywhere close. Same for Key West. Spend this much on a boat, and dealer/factory support is important to me.

Match the hatch?
That elusive gerkin hatch only happens every three leap years. You were lucky to get on it. Matching the forage will never hurt you, but there might be something that triggers the bite better that day.

Who rigs the boat?

Gabba-goal!- Shimano Spinning Reel Maintenance
If you can find it, Perfect Solution is the best degreaser I've used. Getting hard to find though. Grease Police is another good one I found at Home Depot. Use them full strength, with gloves, and rinse thoroughly. Short of those, plain, clear dish detergent with hot water, a tooth brush, and elbow grease will work too. The other end is an ultrasonic cleaner and non foaming cleaning agent. Probably overkill for what your doing.- How Would You Rig These Tolling Weights
Thanks gents!- Who rigs the boat?

I thought those were for use with a planer board or down rigger. What keeps you from losing your weight and clip with a fish on?- How Would You Rig These Tolling Weights
Yes, or you can use stops to keep in place or use a three-way. You can just tie the thing to the tag for DS if you want.- Gulp minnows for bass
Nobody has deleted anything. Thanks.- How Would You Rig These Tolling Weights
Usually you thread a snap swivel onto the main line and attach the weight to the snap. Below that would be swivel and leader, with whatever bait you're trolling tied to the end. I use something similar to make my own super heavy jika rigs:- Shimano Spinning Reel Maintenance
The worm gear is enclosed in the reel gear housing so would not be exposed to dust. A lighter grease works well here. You want a very thin film on the worm and pawl. Are you sure? Have you verified that with a parts diagram? You can try to order it if it's missing. It might be hard to get. I generally just call Shimano USA for parts.- Gulp minnows for bass
We're confused what your post has to do with this thread. This is about Gulp! minnows, and what size we use for bass. The baits you posted about have zero in common and seem out of place. I've used other baits, and caught tons of bass on them, but narrowed my comment to Gulp! minnows. Do you use Gulp! minnows? If so, what size and on what type of rig?- Bay boat for bass?
I do a TON of deep water smallmouth fishing that just isn't very comfortable in a traditional bass boat or deep-v with a walk through unless your on the front deck. The CC format allows for just what you are talking about, and for more than just a couple anglers at once, too. Great for guests and kids. And I still get my bow platform.- Would You Fish Out This? Any pics of your boat? They look pretty nice. I don't see anything that drafts less that 20" or so. Shallow draft is a must have. I'd say 14" would be my cut off. I know the compromise I'm up against. I've recently added Pathfinder to my short list. BW disco'd the 240 for their new 220/250 platform. I'm not super keen on the seating, so they low on y list. Scout is another I'm looking more closely at. The BW dealer I've been working with also carries Scout.- Co-angler Etiquette Question
No fist fights that I've ever heard of. Heavy typing, yes.- I don’t like to be anal, but....
Sometimes certain gear just feels better, and some of us like to figure out why. The devil is always in the the maths and science. ?- Bay boat for bass?
I've changed my tune a bit since then. Glad you bumped this up! Interesting that I got a ton of the same responses in my thread.- I don’t like to be anal, but....
What does your buddy think you're doing with the reels? Seriously though, it's all preference. He doesn't have to fish them.- Switching To Braid?
Older guides? Braid has been around for over 30 years. It's not much of an issue. 10-20# Smackdown would work well with most spinning set ups. - How Would You Rig These Tolling Weights
