  1. Some of the troll comments are gold!
  2. I didn't use them, but used Experts Exchange, through the company that sponsored me. Much of what TOXIC says is similar. It's a coupon code for passing a course, or a pay to play "sponsorship." A lot of people I saw were acting like they sponsored by 20 companies, when really they were getting an industry pro deal. That isn't pro staff or sponsorship, in my mind.
  3. Sign up, tell me how it turns out.
  4. This is my good friend, Eric's company. We've known each other since the third grade, were in boy scouts together. I gave him his first pole and a small box of lures. Led to this. Take a look, really reasonable gear. Call them, and you will probably get his wife Heidi or him on the phone directly. https://www.amazon.com/stores/node/13180987011?_encoding=UTF8&field-lbr_brands_browse-bin=Wild Water&ref_=w_bl_hsx_s_lg_web_13180987011
  5. So, goobers and boogers?
  6. Some guys watch the tip for the bite, some feel the bite. This rod would have been heaven back in the 80s and 90s when we dragged soft shell crabs (freshly molted crayfish to non Yankees) for smallies in Lake Ontario.
  7. Really common practice up here on the Salmon river with the float boat guides. Easier, since it's usually a guide and two clients.
  8. They're pretty good thumpers... my PB: But these thump way harder:
  9. Me too. It's a much better time.
  10. Not all boaters and non boaters are created equal. I've been on plenty of others' boats in tournaments that had no clue what they were doing. I've nons have no clue. I've both where they were excellent anglers. I've had jerks that were great sticks. I've been on boats with nice guys that want to learn and get better. I've fished with guys that felt like a nice day on the water with fishing with someone else is a win. It's all over the board. No one protocol works. My game is to establish from the beginning that I want to win. Whatever we have to do, and this is true for team or draw, let's make a plan for success.

    Uhhhh, dayum!
  12. I don't think so. I almost feel like they are for shipping purposes, when being shipped from factory. They come ina wood crate, mounted upright.
  13. That is definitely what is happening, and these are the worst non-boaters. This can lead to some of the tension right when a new non steps on a boat. I don't really have an issue with it, but some guys hate it. I'm not gonna tie your baits, or tell you what to do, just stay out of my way, out of the trees, and if you catch one fish that contributes to our best five (team format) I consider the non boater an asset, even if they're just there for the boat ride.
  14. We're not talking about the five holes in the right, but the three holes on the left. I'm not sure what those are for. My motor lacks them.
  15. I can point to several club situations where this was the reality. Joining a club was the only way for some to get off the banks.
  16. From six years ago, and around 40 lbs. heavier.
  17. Yep, they are. I had a weird one a few years ago, hooked a steelhead, on it's first run, it launched in the air. It landed in a tree. The end. LMAO. We catch a handful of smallies in certain waters too. Once I even caught a largemouth in a creek, which is very unusual.
  18. Lol, I bet it was fun. We'd do a lot of creek fishing in spring and fall, but the fish were steelhead, browns , and salmon.
  19. It's simple, you swing the bait. Bait fish swim facing upstream. Your presentation could look backwards. Both work, though. Who knows, maybe that's why it works, too.
  20. That is a long stick. I like my 6'2" MLXF over any of the longer rods I've tried. It's usually a fairly vertical game, so I don't need any length. If you're a braid with leader person, the longer rod might be nice - no need to pass a knot. It would also be a sweet float 'n fly rod, too.
  21. Rack ordered!
  22. By easy, I was referring to kings during the run, not bass. You pick the right time, and it's a huge window, the fishing is easy. Anyone can catch.
  23. I'd agree with body of water, to a point. It's the same reason I don't count any of the big LMB I've caught outside of NY. I think of it more as a locale thing. Silver Lake isn't that far from Erie. So, if you're hunting trophies, you should fish Erie. Same for LMB. There are bodies closer that hold bigger fish, but I still fish the City Dump. I mean, it's 2 minutes to the launch. It's an oddity that my PB comes from the dump. It's not known for kicking out monsters.
