  1. An egg carton is a nice trick. I like something heavier duty:
  2. That's a great price! It's $40/half day for a 12' john and 8hp tin can up here.
  3. I'll give four topwater examples, slow to fast: popper spook (walk the dog) buzzbait toad Hopefully others will follow with similar lists.
  4. The place at the top of the bay down the street from me has a couple 18' side console deep-Vs and a few pontoons set up for fishing. There's a similar place two bays east as well that do the same.
  5. I use a shorter, extra fast rod for anything that requires a rod tip down, twitch retrieve, though an all purpose 7' MF will work fine as well. Slower tapers don't work great when twitching. Not as much tip control.
  6. No, I'm a web developer for a student management system. MultipleWebFolders.exe is custom action that copies our main web app site to other specified sites, if there are multiple sites (read as many districts) on a single server. My notes are to remind me to write a Powershell script to automate this when we do automated code builds. Is that clear English? So, I make a change to the code, like add a button, and the build box automatically builds all my sites with the new code. Once it's done, I get an email, and can go to the web app and see if my button works. It's funny you ask that, I used to be a consultant to Xerox for many years, before doing this. They made a few printers in their day.
  7. A 7' medium power, fast taper will work for all that.
  8. Do you really think knots are as big a deal, assuming they're tied at least decently, as we make them out to be? Caught these fish on 8# leader. There are 5 knots. The Raven micro swivels are tiny, about 1/8" long. Centrepins do not have a drag, you back reel or use your middle fingers as drag. Having access to this style of fishing really can give you a sense of what the tackle can handle, and who ties better knots. I used to be the guy that broke off.
  9. Donkey, Carolina, Float 'n Fly rigging all use a swivel. I'll also use a swivel on a split shot or dropper rig in current to allow the bait to free wheel in current. A swivel prevents twist when using inline spinners and spoons. Some add a swivel to their drop shot rig. Anyone that thinks they add weakness to the system by adding knots, consider that many steelhead and salmon terminal rigs use 3-7 knots, using light line. I've caught many a salmon over 20# using 8-10# line, and 5 knots. Bass do not even begin to compare to the fight of a king.
  10. I've had both, and neither had issues. I would be looking at build quality and layout over whether welded or not. Right now, a riveted Lund tickles my fancy the most. In pretty much any instance, A Lund is far better a boat than a Tracker.
  11. We have a couple features. So far I see three reasons to use it. To get an actual depth of the water, to to gat an actual measure of keel to bottom, and to adjust loaded charts depth for varying water levels. USGS stores that data.
  12. Had both, Sea Nymph was rivets, Xpress was welded. No issue with either.
  13. The mouse pad is for my elbow. The mouse is farther forward of the keyboard. I barely use the mouse. Even here, Ctrl-Enter will do the same as post.
  14. Working.....
  15. They're a nice boat, nicer than Trackers. Go to the recent posts in the Show Your Ride thread, and maybe PM some of the owners of boats you're interested in.
  16. Measure from water line to transducer.
  17. I can get the price well over $60, but I wouldn't be financing electronics.
  18. You're in for sticker shock. An 18' Lund outfitted the way I want is over $40K.
  19. Nope. snap swivels are for attaching weights to terminal rigs, not lures. Here's how you use = a swivel with a spoon. You can tie a Duo-loc snap and change spoons easily, if desired: You can sort of see it here:
  20. The top is a mod-v, the bottom is a deep-V.
  21. My old 15' Sea Nymph deep-V with a 50 hp tiller could handle water that my 18' Xpress couldn't launch in. I fished Ontario in that boat for years. Ontario is so deep, it takes a bit to get it churned up, so you have time to get back. Erie is shallow and there's no margin for error. This sent us back to the harbor after getting a winning limit.
  22. Snaps are okay. Swivels are okay. Snap swivels are the devil's work.
  23. Sounds like many commented have never been in club before. Change doesn't happen as quickly as you think, even when motions are voted on.
  24. Never mind it's full of clothes. It's like getting the JCPenney Christmas catalog, but without the toy section.
