  1. Yes. In fact, this is exactly what good jig fisherman do.
  2. It's exactly this. The specifics aren't important, and I'll just say we don't allow spam at all here. Doesn't matter if it's fishing related or not. OP, out of your list, I think you'd be happiest with the Mojo, though all of them are fine rods for the money.

Back in the day, you had paper graphs or flashers. Typically up here, it was the big salmon charter boats that had graphs, while bass/pan anglers use a flasher. I still refer to the RTS (Real Time Scanner) more than the history when fishing "in the cone." I guess it's a holdover from my flasher days.
  4. Shoot, meant to say a little WEST of you. I've fished many a tournament on FH. Even got DQ'd once for running over to the "Pond" which I didn't realize was off limits.
  5. Exactly this! Nice example.
  6. At one point, there were five kits in my house. All but one was set up. I'm back down to my one kit again, lol.
  7. Shore fishing can be tough down south, or anywhere for that matter. I like to have a "milk run" of shore spots. It's a game of moving spot to spot, and see which one is happening.
  8. I stop the spool, and engage the reel. Finish the pitch with your rod tip high, and give the bait some slack to fall more vertical, following it down with your rod tip. You always want to be ready for the hookset. Many times, a bass takes the bait as it hits the water.
  9. SOunds to me you are just too lazy to learn how cast with your left hand!
  10. I learned to baitcast uphill, both ways, barefoot, in a snow storm, with a lump of coal, on a shovel, by candlelight. ?
  11. You can get a sealed lead acid 12v 6-8Ah battery at many car parts stores, Wally World, or Radio Shack.
  12. A good bet would an Ascend 12T from Bass Pro. Good mix of features, stability, and economic. Otherwise, I see quite a few used kayaks locally. Watch craigslist and local classifieds like a hawk. When car topping, don't bother with J-hooks, just put a pool noodle on the crossbar, and use cam locc straps to secure it.
  13. Just because someone doesn't mention, doesn't make it a prime consideration. Often, people new to something, and researching don't know what questions to ask.
  14. Yes. It's second nature after years of fishing. I don't even think about it.
  15. With some of the lighter weights, the bullet style is too skinny for the plastic bait you want to use, so the flipping weight is better at keeping weeds off, especially when pegged, where the weight and the bait are one continuous surface. In traditional Texas Rig style fishing, the weight often slides up the line, as the bait falls, giving it a more natural presentation, and the longer bullet style works better in this case.
  16. I know the difference, I just wanted to make sure Grampa gets fed.
  17. The Adios and Chupacabra are.
  18. Thermoform ABS, and glued together. Immediate red flags for me.
  19. Flipping: Bullet: Images are from Siebert Outdoors.
  20. One or two? In a day? This whole forum is built around help you do much better than that!
  21. Yeah, you're casting too hard. Either turn up the brakes a touch, or feather the spool with your thumb.
  22. Look for carpets of bait, holding close to the bottom. At first, it will look like weeds on a standard graph. I find down imaging much more useful than side imaging for this, since the bait is not suspended in the water column. Start at 25' and work your way out. Works for me out in front of Port Bay, just a little east of you.
  23. You mean running rapids, not having to lug around a battery and clamp on trolling motor, able to car top, be loaded and launched by one person, have tons of tackle storage, and not look like a gomer in a bathtub? Because I'm not seeing the comparison. We get it, but quit coming on kayak threads just to bash them. Have something meaningful to contribute. A 10' Pelican Bass Raider is $600, and it comes with NOTHING. You'll need one or two deep cycle batteries, a trolling motor, and a paddle for backup. That puts your price comparo underwater. One benefit is you can take a buddy out, and you can hook each other's nose since your stuffed in so close, lol. I'm kidding about the last part, and I have fished out of one, and they work well for what they're made for (ponds, small, calm lakes), but won't handle water that a good, purpose built kayak can. / OP: I've fished off a fishing SUP. These are for VERY specific purpose. Things like mother shipping to a shallow off shore reef, and using the SUP to cast to fish. They aren't general purpose. Look at the waters you'll fish, look at Bass Raider, Kayak, Canoe, and see how each will fit with your fishing. Last of all, get some seat time.
