  1. I do exactly the opposite, and usually get up to fight the fish, if I can. You can see me start to get to land a fish at the 4:00 mark.
  2. I bet with some acetone, you could wipe that logo off.
  3. I've actually noticed a shift. More and more, the industry is offering some quality products at a lower price point. You do not have to spend $300 or more for a sensitive, light combo with a decent warranty.
  4. He probably has only one rod and reel. That's why he's contacting Daiwa for a spare spool.
  5. I wrote about using a high end, heavy jig and worm rod being *my* perfect frog rod. Light, powerful, and can serve multiple purposes. https://www.bassresource.com/fishing_lures/primmus-reel-dhc-7-rod-review.html
  6. I just bend my knees, same as I would do in a bass boat, except you're even closer to the water.
  7. That's a beautiful picture, too.
  8. I hate seeing "frog lines" in the slop when I roll up to a prime spot.
  9. When the dragonflies are buzzing, and the sun is high in the sky, it's a great time to throw a frog.
  10. My favorite to throw is a spinnerbait. My most productive lure the past few years has been a Popmax.
  11. Yes, they are on two screwballs. They fit perfectly in the gear tracks that are standard on the Compass. The battery is in a dry bag that goes under the seat, or up front. This setup can be moved to my other boats easily. Setting up is a five minute job.
  12. My Helix 5 SI works fine on my Compass and the TD is next to the Mirage Drive. Sorry, don't have a pic with SI, but have this with chirp and DI:
  13. Perfect mod! If you buy the Mirage separately, I think it's around $850. I don't have the pricing in front of me, but it's in that neighborhood.
  14. Just that mine is round. I really dig the bigger hatch you have, though. Maybe they made a change while in production:
  15. Just get a test drive, and make sure all the switches, hatches, livewell pumps, and other mechanical things like drain shut offs, etc. work on the water.
  16. So is forgetting your battery! Side note. A lithium setup for $100 has me intrigued. Thinking about weight savings.
  17. Wally world has both the batteries and chargers. The Shumachers are smart chargers, and run around $25. Batteries are about the same. So others know what we're talking about, these are usually SEALED lead acid batteries. There's zero maintenance, other than charging and conditioning. I've been running this setup since 2004, and have purchased two batteries in that time. I had to buy a second because I sold the first with the kayak. It's really not that complicated.
  18. I can do 8 hours or more, but I need some walk around time for a break. Really, same as in my bass boat. Even then, I need to sit, and relax a few times. At $500, you're pretty much limited to used. Just check the hull for excessive wear, and get a test drive.
  19. No problems with my 7ah sealed battery and Shumacher charger. It's gotta be five years old. Not sure the brand battery, but I got it from Radio Shack.
  20. Hold the rod high, and use a FishGrip, or small landing net. You can hand land them too. See photo and video below:
  21. Holy cow!
  22. 1. The same characteristics I prefer for jerk/slash baits is what I like for walking/popping topwater baits. It's a a good short range, sniper style spinnerbait setup. 2. Black Bass 3. Casting 4. & 5. I use an old Avid AC62MXF 6'2" Medium, X-fast 6. I don't find gear ratio matters that much. I'm currently using 6.3:1, but I've used faster and slower. I was always able to adjust. 7. I'd really just like to have duplicates of this rod. It features a shorter rear grip, which makes the tip twitches more comfortable. It's actually about the same length from the real seat to the tip as a 6'6" model, just a shorter rear grip.
