  1. I read that too, which is why I said don't rule it out. Then others had questions about it. Not unusual on forums. I've owned six fishing kayaks over the dozen or so years I've been doing this. I'm more than happy to discuss pros and cons with a first time kayak buyer.
  2. Okuma EVX 6'10" Med/Fast w/ Epixor reel. That'll leave you funds for some good Tatsu FC line. I prefer 6# for drop shot.
  3. I stand corrected! Thanks for figuring that out. I thought grass carp were only introduced to NYC reservoirs.
  4. If a "fisherman's knot" means a cinch knot, then yes.
  5. You can use a tie-able leader, like Cortland Toothy Critter, and not lose bites. 20# size works well for me.
  6. Or a $3000 graph for $129!!!!!
  7. I like that set up in weeds, and in a more horizontal appraoch, but for deep drops in clear water, straight fluoro works best for me. Can't argue with results
  8. So far, it's a really well thought out boat.
  9. 6# diameter is a whole 'nother story. Buy good fluoro, and you won't be disappointed. I just respooled a reel with 6# Tatsu. The old Tatsu was four years old, and still just fine, just getting low on the spool.
  10. These will work great for that. https://www.siebertoutdoors.com/Roundball-Jighead-1036.htm
  11. Really nice, It has a flat, clean deck. It has a stable, double tunnel hull:
  12. I have the new Compass, and I was surprised that it paddles as well, if not better than many paddle only boats.
  13. Okuma Guide Select 'a' 7-11 XH and a Shimano Cardiff 300 spooled up with 20# CXX.
  14. I'm thinking it's a tri-hull pontoon.
  15. I don't know if you can line up seasons to color, though seasons would dictate their location, and that has an effect. The one I showed above was from a pond, and just after ice out, water temp barely 40°. This one is a summer fish, from a deep clear lake. I caught it from a weedy laydown in around 8' of water: And then this one from a very cold spring day, water temps in the low 50s, caught VERY shallow: I'm gonna say it's warm, judging by my clothes. I think it was mid June, but not sure: I have others that show the opposite. This was a weed fish, water temps above 80°. Not trying to argue, just showing data.
  16. Correct. If you use Siebert Outdoors jigs, no trimming is necessary.
  17. Trimming it shorter will make it stiffer.
  18. Lil' Cleo Wiggle Lure.
  19. Don't rule out the Hobie Compass. Mirage Drive, very stable, fast hull that also paddles well, simple clean deck, gear track, Lowrance ready TD pod, and get this, weighs 65 lbs. without the drive. For $2000, you get a paddle, Mirage Drive, the seat and the hull. Loving mine:
  20. If it's too good to be true, it probably is. This looks more than sketchy to me.
  21. Depends on water clarity, bottom makeup, time of year, water temps, etc.
  22. Mine are outside. I apply 303 regularly to them to block UV.
  23. Is the line guide pausing? The pawl should free float a bit, since it needs to move to follow the recess in the worm gear.
