  1. I actually got to hold this setup in person, after running into Rich at the launch last Friday afternoon. It's crisp, light as a feather. Thinking I might get back into some UL fishing for days when it's tough for bass.
  2. Pretty sure the rope in a pic would disqualify you in the TourneyX tournaments I've entered.
  3. Use it to hold the fish while you get it ready. They generally tire out a bit while boat side. Then you can have everything ready, with one hand on the camera, and the other on the fish. 1000's of kayak anglers can't be wrong.
  4. Get a FishGrip, and attach a lanyard to it. Done.
  5. It would be VERY difficult for a fish to open a FishGrip.
  6. I've big largemouth pull drag, but you're right, not really far, and they do change direction a lot. Smallies rarely pull drag, unless they're really big, like as heavy as the line test you're using. King salmon will strip a 100 yards or so of line on their *first* run. Nothing stops them.
  7. I'd go with 4# on a 1000 size.
  8. They're waterproof. Generally they are installed alongside the batteries.
  9. Another rule: use a hook that's twice as wide as the bait. It always takes some practice rigging them on the hook. I still screw up sometimes, and I've been fishing for 40+ years. Take a look through our how to video collection. There's a bunch in there about rigging plastics, and hook selection. https://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-videos/How-To-Fishing-Videos
  10. Generally, keeping a supply of 3/0, 4/0, and 5/0 will cover most sizes of plastics. AT least, those are the ones I buy most frequently.
  11. Get the Hydroflo boxes and be done. I haven't had any rust issue since switching to them.
  12. The standard setup is the cranking battery is the only battery connected to the motor. You generally don't get enough charge from the motor to keep the battery fully charged, so a charger is a must. I would not recommend the combiner linked. You do not want the cranker and the deep cycle wired in parallel. A two bank charger keeps both charged and isolated.
  13. I've used these, and they are SUPER SHARP. They are a little pricey, but they do work well.
  14. Nice review here:
  15. No disgrace in asking. We're all here to help! The whole point of the site is to get novices past the learning curve.
  16. I'm not sure how this relates to the average bass angler. Seems more like a knot tying competition then a knot test.
  17. I don't know what that knot is, but I recommend you learn a Palomar or Uni knot, and don't burn anything.
  18. I always thought you looked at RC for a cranker, and AH for a deep cycle. Is that wrong?
  19. 1988 called. It wants it's Bananarama CDs back.
  20. For medium cover, I like the braid and leader setup. I would't too much more than 8# for the leader, but use 15-20 for braid. Deep drops in clear water, straight fluoro.
