  1. Do the Happy Gilmore three step wind up!
  2. Line choice really is very personal. If you don’t know any better, and what you’re using is working, then that’s the best. It’s when you encounter some situation where things are failing and you’re losing fish that we all try to find the culprit and fix it. Its not the line. It’s the system. Look at everything, and figure what’s what. No ones advice in here is wrong, but it might not take into account what’s going on under the water in your lake. Theres a a ton of experience in these threads. Distill that into your system.
  3. Overly optimistic.
  4. Xpress X and Hyperlift are all 95” beams. You won’t come in that $30k range, though. They’re a little more.
  5. I’m just changing out some four year old line only because it’s low on the spool.
  6. In my fishing classes, I always found that beginners pick up pitching faster than anything. Once you get there, move up to side arm, roll cast, and variations of the chuck and duck.
  7. I only use a bit of old mono to lock the braid to the arbor. I don’t back my fluoro reels with anything. The connection knot is annoying. For braid, no leader in weeds, leader for wood and rocks.
  8. So, $15 every couple of months or $25 for a season or more? I know what going with.
  9. Bass Pro shops have storage covers for $75. Seems like a no brained to me.
  10. Why can't you put a rack and kayak on a Mustang? I have a friend that car tops with his Miata.
  11. Or he lied, because he works for a competitor. Your spinnerbait issue was from sitting on the shelf too long. The bands that hold the skirts fatigue from UV exposure, and the skirts fall off.
  12. A tarp adds to that Sanford & Son nuance. Get a fitted cover, even if it's a generic one.
  13. It depends on your specific state's laws. And within that, it can vary be county. Often times, you can order a farm raised bass for aquaria, or apply for a special permit. We did the latter when we collected pygmy sunfish in NJ Pine Barrens.
  14. It does happen quite a bit in the fishing world. In fact, we remove a couple posts a week started by people with, how should I say, interesting motivations. Luckily they're easy to spot. They "pro staff" for one company, talk bad about another...
  15. The old chasing blow ups game. I hate getting sucked into that false advertising, lol. Except when it works, and you do get bit, and feel like a genius.
  16. Yeah, we're done when we get to bragging about vandalism.
  17. Sound carries on water. Watch what you say!
  18. We have open water... https://www.facebook.com/JohnKuckoDigital/videos/2039516866318859/
  19. And on others it's the norm. Generally speaking, no one really wants to bother someone else. Occasionally you get a jerk or group of jerks doing immature or even unsafe things on the water. That's what a call to sheriff is for. Let them handle it. For the guy that gets too close, say something like, "I was fishing here, thought maybe you didn't see me. Can you give me some room?" Up here, 100' wouldn't faze me on certain lakes, eve in my kayak.
  20. I've watched a bass follow a frog too many times to think in terms of a small target. My favorite is the wake inthe slop coming right at your frog. But I digress, keep taking your baits away from the fish.
  21. Multiple threads have been merged.
  22. I read reviews here, from real anglers like you. People that leave reviews on shopping sites are generally kooks. I read those reviews for entertainment purposes only. I'm gonna call total bologna on that review above. No one is straightening a wire on a backlash. Besides, you get a free extra plopper tail.
  23. Minor ice storm this past weekend.
  24. I'm seeing weird advice. A bass blew up on your frog, so you want to take it away from the fish quickly, and cast again? Just leave the frog there! Why would you take the bait away? Leave it there, and that bass usually strikes again. Faster = more casts? I don't get it. The fish tell you whether to fish fast or slow, not the reel. Are you casting out a mile, twitching the frog three times, and reeling that mile back in, and casting again? One of my biggest bass came on a frog, in open water between me and pads. They're called "lures" for a reason: sometimes you lure them out of cover. I'm intentionally being a contrarian, devil's advocate, but really, think about these things. One the most common threads on here is problems with frogs. I think I see why.
