  1. There's a lot of great rods in that range. I'm not sure that I can think of the "best" though. Many so called frog rods are great at throwing the baits, but not so hot at getting a fish out of the slop. Generally, my only criteria for a frog rod is that it be long, heavy power and fast action. I've been impressed with the Okuma EVX line. The 7'5" Heavy would be good for frogs, and other heavy cover baits.
  2. Over 40,000 replies. I started the thread years ago: http://photocamel.com/forum/fun-stuff/33844-ban-person-above-me.html
  3. Nope, just marketing. Check line diameters vs. breaking strength, though.
  4. I should mention, don't toss the Styrofoam seal. Gently peel it back, and stick it in the lid. That'll keep it from drying out. I know from experience. Very disappointing to go to seal cork, and its dry.
  5. Are you using a heavier weight?
  6. It’s my JOB to read every post and offer help. If you don’t like it, there’s a log off button.
  7. Mineral spirits will remove the wood filler, too. Magic Eraser is a less harsh. I usually bundle the U-40 in with a bait order from TW.
  8. I cut split rings off my crankbaits, and use a snap. Probably around 2/3 of my cranks have snaps on them already, so it's pretty likely that I'm retying on a bait change anyway. It prevents issues with either knot or the loop in the bait getting fouled up with the slot in the split ring. A snap can alter the nose up/down attitude of a suspending bait. I don't recommend altering this bait, unless it's for an intentional purpose.
  9. Nope. I use it to clean old cork, and then seal it.
  10. Mine came direct from KastKing to review for you all. I wonder if they've stopped making it because they've started a new line of braid that is made in the USA. I've only been able to handle it in my hands, not on a set up, but first impressions are really good. It also comes in a baby blue color.
  11. Kastking makes a nice pink braid. Used it all last year, works great.
  12. Saw this the other day. Sad for his family, friends, and fans. One of my favorite videos is Lefty doing double hauls on just the tip portion of a three piece rod!
  13. How does anyone actually find a 12 year old thread? Man, I can't find anything I posted last week! But to be serious, @Will1248, when your at the category level, check the "Sort by" on the right corner, in the beige band to be sure you don't have it set to something that isn't as useful as "Latest first."
  14. My buddy Wade uses a similar setup on his Commander 140. Looks like a gunship!
  15. I use it on all *my* rods. Rods that I purchased at retail. For rods sent to me for evaluation, I leave them unfinished since I want to know how they hold up, and be able to report back to you all on that detail.
  16. I find that slow and steady changes are less an issue than sudden changes. Deeper fish are less affected by changes in surface temps, so depending on the lake, you may want to seek them out if conditional are off.
  17. Thanks for posting the link, @Choporoz. It's pretty simple. If you get "***" then leave it, and don't try to circumvent the filters. That's when you're going to get into trouble. I can't remember who, but a few businesses have come to terms with this, have actually turned out to be good partners. Next: why would we put a list of companies that have spammed our site up? So, give them free advertising via notoriety? Nope, not happening. We mods remove a ton of stuff that is just spam, and work our butts off to keep things clean and unbiased as possible.
  18. It'll keep the cork looking and feeling like new. You can easily remove it with Magic Eraser or fine grit sandpaper.
  19. Also options on the Z19 and Z519. Most companies put their 20+ footers on tandems.
  20. Ouch buddy! I just wouldn't want to deal with my 22' boat and trailer getting out of control at highway speeds. They only time I have an issue maneuvering the trailer is when it's NOT hooked up to the truck. It just doesn't move side to side. When it's on the truck, it's just a bit slower to respond to turn input than a single axle, and that probably has more to do with length. My other boat was an 18' Xpress, with a single, for reference.
  21. @WRB, Looks like Tennessee.
  22. Uh, you actually said you did not use a spinning rod for this. It's good you want to help, but please rely on personal experience.
  23. They never rolled for me. Tie them tight to the cleat.
  24. Why would they roll? The first one squared off at the top.
