  1. I have the YakAttak arm, it's very light, and I don't have to worry about damaging the TD when putting in/taking out. Not to mention, I can move the unit to other boats with slide tracks. SI/DI/CHIRP all work great.
  2. LOL, WR. The basic "drop shot" rig is something we learned to use fishing live bait right off the dock at our cottage, back when we were kids. We called it "off the bottom," as in the bait was off the bottom. "On the bottom" was split shot rig, or egg sinker before a swivel and a snelled hook. Sounds like a Carolina rig? Anyway, we lost a lot of the on the bottom rigs, but not too many off the bottom rigs. That seems to hold true today. I often fish a DS from shore, still, and when the usual pond baits - topwater, spinnerbait, square bill - don't work, the DS does.
  3. I always use the same trailer - a trailer hook. No trailer bait for me, and I catch them fine. It's one of my more productive baits.
  4. I don't know....but SK rarely leaves any product segment stone unturned.
  5. How heavy are those cowls? I know my Pro Max alien cowl is super light, like 5 lbs., but the 115 cowl must have been like 25 lbs.
  6. Little me is gonna be 18, graduating high school, and more interested in girls, schoolwork, his truck, and working at the restaurant than fishing. Last time I took both boys out on a kayak fishing trip, he paddled around the lake, and didn't fish at all. The little guy likes to go pike fishing in the creek with me, though. He's always catching bass, lol.
  7. The testimonials are great.
  8. That answers my question, thanks!
  9. There are seasonal opportunities for many game fish here, and I take advantage of them, but most of my fishing is for bass.
  10. No idea. I generally deal straight with Smooth Drags.
  11. Wayne, if I were to get a new unit, do I have to any transducer exchange?

    I'll send you @Glenn's 10% coupon code.
  13. Both good choices. Shimano uses more metal part than anyone in their spool/pinion release mechanism. Lew's is mostly plastic, similar to all the Pure Fishing variants. When the Revos first came out, I had concerns over the use of plastic here, but after more than a decade, it seems it was unwarranted, outside a few isolated issues. Seems like the major makers know what their doing. Daiwa is still the best
  14. Thanks! <banging head on desk> You actually have to click "Freshwater" from the home page, lol.
  15. Perhaps I'm dense.....where are the images? Google, BIng, DuckDuckGo give me nada....
  16. That isn't a braid, hence some of the confusion. I wouldn't be trying to throw 1/4 oz. baits with the 30# size. I had decent results with Crystal Fused in 14 and 20# size for that class of lure. I eventually went to a regular 15-20# braided line, on a spinning rig for smaller baits, or just plain old 10# copoly on a casting rig.
  17. No clue what you're talking about.... But here's their press release page: http://www.humminbird.com/PressRoom/

You're totally off base. The new sponsors are ImmodiumAD, Depends, and Kleenex.
  19. The main thing you are doing, is keeping the bait in place, and off the bottom. It's that simple. It gets bit, have confidence, be patient.
  20. Never found this to be true at all.
