SK vs GYCB
Wrong, a search using the word "arashi" turns up ten pages worth of threads.

Those notions are mutually exclusive. I use GYCB, and I do feel they are expensive.

It'll dig on a spinning reel, too. Though, I have set up several reel tuning customers with 5000 size spinning reels, and medium heavy power inshore rod, specifically for frogging. They just weren't comfortable using casting gear, and muskie gear was too bulky. Inshore tackle fit the bill. It's not even a compromise, since it works just as well. Just different. I prefer the compact casting reel for this, and I would suppose most others do as well, which is why casting gear is the usual choice. Plus, there just isn't the same availability locally for inshore tackle. I mean, there's NOTHING like that here, but get closer to Long Island, and options open up.

Sorry, fixed it. Must used a filtered keyword.

Yep, love them. Lots of rolling and shimmy. Good baits.

LOL. I'm never one to invent anything, but a lot of the time, I just try different stuff. Out of 4" worms? Have a bunch of 7" worms? Bite them man! And be sure to spit the head at your partner! There's nothing groundbreaking about the Ned rig. Ned himself tells the story as if it was a fluke, a challenge he made to himself: "Can I reuse these busted senkos? What's the best way to fish them? Oh, they look good on these gopher jigs. Now let me try to swim them back slowly and deliberately..." The original article in In-Fisherman even had pictures of homemade jigs, with a thread wrapped backer to build up the head size to mach the girth of the bait. He might have even had one deressed in marabou - that's been a staple in crappie fishing for half a century. And it wasn't just senkos that were depicted as viable trailers. It's that kind of on the water problem solving that I think is cool. Now it's a heavily marketed bait and style. Good for him. People have been putting plastics of all sorts on a jighead since the birth of plastic baits.

What has been your best large bass lure of this late summer?
Spinnerbait and a Rage Craw on super-sized Jika rig.

I forgot to use the sarcasm font. I'll just say that they are marketed as thus. You can break off a any stick worm, and stick on a gopher jig. I've been known to bite plastics to shorten them for a smaller profile. A "jig-worm" is probably the first finesse technique I learned to use after the split shot rig. The weight in both situations was necessary since plastics in those days did not have salt and floated.

Outdoor writer Ned Kehde stuck a broken half of a used senko on a mushroom head jig, and fished it on a particularly slow bite. He was able to generate numbers , on a consistent basis, and developed certain presentations that worked well. Then it was over thought, extensively written about, and now there "proper" Ned rig baits and accessories.

Curious. How many cast as Glenn
I definitely don't use my body, but I think that's more a function of years of fishing in a kayak while standing. It carries over to fishing in a boat, for me too.

Spiral, Roberts, Acid Wrap
That's an interesting point, Gary.

SK vs GYCB
Other than the Ocho, I don't use any of the "non Ragetail" baits. There are a few baits other than senko that I use, but I could live without GYCB.

I came home today to find an infestation of frogs!
Same guy that invented the banjo minnow! Beautiful collection, Robert!

Does that include Ragetail baits? Because I'll dump the Senkos and stick with those any day of the week.

That's also a great video that shows the mechanics well. I remember really likening that one when it came out and referencing it to kayak fishing students.

Might not be yanking in 11 lbs. bass, but you might run into a 10-15 lb. pike, or in fall and spring a 20 lb. steelhead or brown. Happens every year. I'm still laughing about my buddy horsing in a 30" steelhead that bit a trap next to a dock of all places! Thing jumped like 15' feet on the air before breaking him off. It was awesome, and the look on his face … priceless.

Do you pack your line on the retrieve? So, your saying it's not an issue for you, correct? Clearly this has been an issue for others, and they're not all stupid. All braid can and will dig in on the spool. See my answer earlier below. You WILL have to do this with FX2, whether it's 30 or 100 lb. However, the larger diameter braid is easier to deal with, and doesn't seem to dig in as far.

Dumb Move Was an Expensive Lesson
I've done that, but I only barely got out of the driveway. 30 miles? Lmao!

Has this ever happened to anyone?
Yep, anytime there are bullfrogs around.

Spiral, Roberts, Acid Wrap
I have a spiral wrap on my swimbait rod. Not sure it's any better or worse, but we were able to use micros, and the line doesn't touch the rod when loaded.
