  1. Any of the bigger, trusted ones...fluoro doesn't degrade like nylon.
  2. basically, everything the B was.... everybody's gripe about the D was weight. wonder how they do this? lighter materials?
  3. He's not over thinking it, clearly is asking questions any new angler would. It's how we learn - by asking questions. I like to nose hook fluke style baits. Better hook ups, if you can get away with it. Senkos are almost always wacky rigged. I don't use a worm hook for any of this, unless I am rigging them weedless, such as a Texas, Carolina, or Florida rig. articles: http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/worm_rigs.html http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-videos/wacky-rig.html http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-videos/how-to-rig-senko.html
  4. Because we see it every time we offshore, er, I mean "best shore" services and manufacturing. It's an easy leap. Their standards may not change, but the reality of the quality may. Doesn't mean stuff is crap.
  5. It doesn't translate that way in my kayak, lol.
  6. I think in the realm of $200-ish reels, most companies have caught up with Shimano and Daiwa.
  7. Take your whole bag for a few trips. What ever you use, put in an empty box. Now build your inventory from those few baits.
  8. I would use either to wind the line up on my plug knocker.
  9. Well, this is a bass fishing forum.
  10. We appreciate the kind words, guys. Lets move on. Not much else to say here.
  11. You aren't breaking the Okuma. What you get with a custom, is a reduced weight, and a better fit to your style. My custom has an 11-3/4" rear grip, which happens to tuck into my bicep when palming the reel. Plus, it's sub 4 oz., has a full rear grip, and spiral wrapped micros. You can't really figure this out until you've used a swimbait for a while. Then you start noticing things you want or would prefer.
  12. Couple hits from a google search is easier than trying to explain it. I've done it twice, once on Conesus and once on Oneida (the prop eater lake, lol). http://www.boatingmag.com/how-to-tell-if-youve-spun-your-propeller-hub http://www.propshopinc.com/blog/Easily-Diagnose-a-Spun-Hub-bp4.html In the case of Conesus, I was in a hurry, and revved with the hotfoot and slammed it into gear (not realizing at all I was doing this), spinning the hub. It's an easy fix, takes about ten minutes or less, so long as you have the part and a proper prop wrench.
  13. Did a little research.... This all clearly violates our forum rules about illegal activities. Goodnight Irene, hope the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission don't notice. From: http://myfwc.com/hunting/season-dates
  14. I think you have a spun hub.
  15. Remember, St. Croix are heavier than their stated power....Any M/F blank I've used from them (SCII through SCIV) can toss a 1/2 oz. bait with ease.
  16. It's ideal if you don't know how to fish a baitcaster! Bait is in range, reel can handle just about anything reasonable, so I think it'll be just fine. My preference echoes what everyone said: I'd use a M/F casting rig, simply because I like to use heavy copoly line for spinnerbaits, like 12-15# P-Line CXX, which will not work on a 2500 spinning reel. Keep asking, and checking threads!
  17. Yes, I use an old Bill Dance model. Success rate: 100%.
  18. Try sticking your head out the window.
  19. Cool reel! Definitely. I remember when 5:1 reels were "high speed!"
  20. You think that's a new feature? lol.
  21. I don't use any nylon mono for bass fishing. A majority of my reels have fluoro or a copolymer line. Probably a third have braid. I still use mojo for steelhead, but even then, I'm using a fluoro leader. yhey all have a purpose and solve a fishing issue, making it more enjoyable to fish.
  22. I've had units from Garmin, Loweance, Eagle, and Humminbird. This is just personal preference, but I get along with the menus on the 'bird the best. I also have one of the original Dragonfly 5 units, and that thing was great straight out of the box and the stick with knob was really easy to use in rough water.
  23. Killing otters sounds so foreign to me. They're endangered up here, and there programs to reintroduce them in areas that can support them.
