I'm so tired of weather forecast constantly changing....

Recommended Posts

This is the second time now I've canceled my fishing plans on my day off because the weather channel said thunderstorms and high winds only to change two hours later to the complete opposite.

I woke at 6am today and was gonna be on the water by 7am until I turn on the weather and it said there was a 70% chance of thunderstorms at 9am then it would calm down and resume at 1pm.

So I was like, ugh whatever I'll just go another day instead of having to worry about getting struck by lightning, then at 9 am I am wondering where this thunderstorm is and now the weather channel is saying light winds and sunshine until 1pm... So there goes a perfectly good day of fishing.

Yeah, I guess I'm gonna have to trust my eyeballs more than the weather channel because they obviously don't know what the hell they're talking about, Lol!

use it more like a "warning" so to speak and not the stone cold truth.... if they say chance for T storms, i'll keep it to the banks or stay fairly close to the ramp with the kayak until i'm pretty certain it's either coming or gone...

said no reasonable person.... ever!
the only reason i suppose one would stay in Kansas is if the feds sent you to Leavenworth.... even at that, it would only make breaking out that much more enticing!

For crying out loud man, it's the weather forecast ! If it were a horse I wouldn't bet on it even if it were a foot from the finishing line. Just go.

I can think of worst ways to die than being struck by lightning while I'm fishing.

I've fished through some nasty stuff, way worse than I should have. Unless it looks like it's going to do it all day, I'm going.

20mph winds, , if it only makes it up to 20mph I'm pretty happy.

It's South Georgia in the spring. There's always a chance of rain. Just go.

use the 'Future' button at the bottom and you can see 5 hrs in advance.

(it's set for my zip code so you'll have to re-adjust).  always use the interactive radar on sites.

Just yesterday a black cloud chased me off the water, even though the forecast was good and the radar was pretty clean. By the time I was leaving the lake, the sun was out and that cloud was nowhere to be seen. I was all kinds of confused :annoyed1:

We had one of the mildest winters in my lifetime here in the Northeast.  But it was mild because the weather would be wintery one day, then Spring-like the next.   And Spring is being just a fickle... I don't think we've had more than two nice days in a row.  We had snow last Tuesday.  And the wind has been blowing strong out of the North since winter.  This week it finally started coming out of the West, but it's still strong.  It kept me off the water today.

I'd have to say the weather here, since last fall, has been the most unstable, fickle and unpredictable I have ever experienced.  I have tomorrow off and want to get out on the water but the wind forecast looks nasty again.  :-(

Tight lines,

Bob

it's been a windy spring down here in NC too. windy and dry, up until last week. we just had our "blackberry winter" and summer time conditions usually ensue. mid 80's this coming week with SW winds 5-10. perfect for fishing, IF the forecast holds true.

Try living in WNY for a year if you want weather unpredictability.

We had a very VERY mild (by our standards) winter this year. With an early ice out, and with the exception of one warm week in mid April, we have been stuck in a 6-8 week rut of 50 degree days, cold nights, and a seemingly never ending stiff, chilly, north or east wind.

Water temps around here during this week of May are usually 55+ on the main lake, and 65+ in the backwaters. Were still in the high 40's/low 50's on the lake depending on what time of day it is, and in the mid 50's in the backwaters, often dropping over night to lower than the main lake temps.

As a result, fishing is NOT as good as usual if going by the date. As long as the weather keeps the water temps stuck in this late cold water/early pre-spawn rut, the fishing will be unpredictable at best.

We have had corn seed in the ground since April 18th..............sitting in cold wet ground. I warned them against planting so early. Just because the air is warm, and the neighbors are doing it (often on better ground) don't mean we should be. I am still old school when it comes to putting corn in. When you can pull your pants down, put your bare butt on the ground AND not get a chill............it's time to plant. I predict a replanting  of some of this corn.
