  1. I use it, works great. Easy to tie on spinnerbaits and buzzbaits.
  2. I use it on Power Pro and Kazen braid. It helps keep the color longer.
  3. Complaining won't fix it. The only thing that works is to spend a few minutes cleaning up the spot after you're done fishing, especially if it's in clear view of others. You'd be surprised how much more effective leading by example rather than confronting offenders, or complaining about them can be.
  4. Les Claypool. Fish on!
  5. Yeah, I've seen that. What I was sharing was from the inventor, Rob Faddis. I could have misunderstood, or be recalling it wrong. The 40s have a way of doing that, lol.
  6. Lakes are still iced over, lol.
  7. Sam, I think the issue with KVD L&L product specifically is that wiping it alters the polymer, reducing it's sealing characteristics. Ike isn't nuts, some lines do have a powdery film on them. Wiping them off isn't a bad idea. I know I wipe braid when I spool, but I don't use anything in the paper towel. Ripinlips, that's a good tip as well. I'm not as fastidious with my bass gear, but I treat the guides on my steelhead float rods. I fish for trout in freezing temps, and although they have tall frame, large guides, the freeze up. L&L makes it easy to simply whack the rod just above the handle and knock the ice free. Good tips guys.
  8. Basically, good warts were bad warts. You want one that doesn't run totally true.
  9. I use it for mouthwash. Minty fresh!
  10. Go to the Pure Fishing website and look for the support link. For the sketchy level wind, I'll bet is just a worn pawl. Replace it and you should be in business.
  11. Storm molded into the top of the bill are newer baits. Small lettering stamped on the bottom of the bill are pre Rapala. These appear to be pre Rapala baits. Good find.
  12. I'm pretty sure the inventor of L&L does not recommend using a rag to apply. I just pretreat my filler spools, and reapply after fishing. It needs to dry in work it's best.
  13. No, I don't. It basically looks like any other orange Pixy, but with a different internals.
  14. Yes. I prefer what works best with bait/line/cover. I'd add XH and XXH to the list.
  15. Hootie and the Bassfish might work.
  16. Just because it's the spawn doesn't mean they are shallow everywhere. Protected areas, near deeper water with harder bottom and decent cover will hold more fish than areas without those ingredients.
  17. That's a pretty good summary, and fairly close to how I feel about it. I'd love to catch a record, but really, I'm busy with my thing. I've taken great satisfaction in the opportunities offered here. With that comes great responsibility knowing that many take what I post as gospel (even though it is far from that!) and trying new gear and techniques, sharing my personal successes and failures will hopefully take the edge off the tremendous learning curve that bass angling presents. I'm as satisfied by posts of big fish as I am of catching my own, especially when it's a new angler sticking a big fish using what they learned here. Those personal firsts are as good as my personal best in my book.
  18. I guess you can probably put an asterisk on a lot of fish, though I think it's pointless. Just about every record fish has weird circumstances surrounding it's existence. Why? Well, they're different - they are records. World record German brown trout. Hmmm, Great Lakes fish that eats alewife and gobies. World record rainbow. Uhh, triploid (genetically modified) trout that never wastes energy on spawning, so gets huge. The lake Perry's bass came from doesn't exist anymore. Kurita's bass was from a group of fish he'd been feeding for a year. Even the NY record is fishy. Comes from a private lake. Oh wait, I thought they had to come from public waters - that's what the DEC site says. I guess they make exceptions for guys that catch a planted bass in a private lake. Personally, how it got to be matters little to me. As long as it's caught legally, and in public water, then if it's the biggest ever caught, then it's the record. Period.
  19. I prefer a casting rod when sitting. A spinning reel gets in the way.
  20. I've never had to sign for TW. Just got a shipment yesterday. Was on my porch when I got homer yay!
  21. Yep, you need get a clean bill of health, then start doing sone prop slip calculations to get an idea of what prop will work best for your purpose and hull. Again, you won't be able to capture baseline numbers for the calculations until you resolve the engine issue.
  22. A lot of the management on that lake is centered around overcoming the fact that the water chemistry is not the most ideal to grow monster bass. Is it cheating? Sure, but not like you think. I've fished there with him, you have to figure them out. Also, this while catch them off the feeders thing is bunk. Those fish are waiting for kibble, and the bite literally dies at feeding time. The fish are smart, strong, and very healthy. Fishing there was one of the most memorable experiences.
  23. Minimums are illegal here. Doesn't stop the merchants, tho.
  24. You learned something though, I hope. Fish don't always bite a moving bait. Next time, throw your spinnerbait. If you don't get but for a bit, try something slower, like a Texas rigged worm. See what happens.
  25. I don't know why using or not using a tool or pen or whatever would create so much contention. At most, the tool costs less than $10. If that seems too much, then don't get it. It makes it very easy and fast, and if you use authentic senkos, you won't tear them getting the ring on. Btw, I use two crossed rings. On tournament day, I just spear the bait. I don't really want to spend any extra time getting a bait rigged.
