  1. How is anyone eating crow, if both work? Use what you like.
  2. Just one size? Probably a Pointer SP 100.
  3. I don't remember my first, but I recall my first big one. Caught it off the dock at our cottage on a worm. It was probably around 4-5 lbs., and seemed like a whale.
  4. A two blade provides greater thrust, but a three blade is more weed less.
  5. I've seen aluminum, graphite, stapes steel, and other composite frames fail. It's almost always a manufacturer defect. I generally prefer Al frames for heavy duty use, but the newer materials are pretty strong.
  6. Do you like movies with gladiators, Billy?
  7. In contrast, I pretty much exclusively use my phone to access the forum. I use both the mobile version in Safari, and the IPB app for iPhone. The only real difference is the back buttons on each. Otherwise they are identical. Since I work sitting in front if a PC for work, I prefer not be at a laptop in my free time. It's just easier for me. Just different strokes for different folks.
  8. You don't need to remove the shield to flush a bearing.
  9. For me, its too much hardware in the bend of the hook. I don't have any evidence that it would have poor hookups, but I'd rather the hook not have anything on it besides plastic or a rubber o-ring.
  10. I let cover and bottom makeup determine what line to use, and whether to use a leader, if I go with braid. In a general sense, braid for weeds and fluoro or a tough copolymer line for rocks. For timber and docks, braid with a leader. If I get hung up, I want to be able to quietly break off.
  11. Yep, they're great. Look BillM wacky rig tool. Bill's a friend of mine.
  12. You'd control whether you get email alerts in your user settings, through your profile here. How your email handles junk or spam would be controlled through your email provider. I have mine set up to only email me when I get a PM.
  13. Yeah, give or take. It's a great rod for pitching half ounce jigs. I've only caught a little 6# steelhead on a spoon with it, but it seems like the real deal at well under $200.
  14. My 7-3 DCH5 Micro balances one finger in forward of the locking ring on the reel seat with a Optimus hand tuned reel.
  15. I catch a pike now and again fishing for drop back trout in early spring. They are in the creeks. Total pain in the butt on a centrepin setup, lol.
  16. They spawn at ice out. NY is well known to not allow fishing for spawning fish.
  17. I want no tip. I like a moderate taper. I want the power of the rod spread across the whole blank, and I want it immediately. I want the rod extra heavy power from the butt end to the tip, so I can "lift an separate" that fish from cover. No spongy tips for me. I don't want any part if the rod pointing at the fish. That means some of the power is wasted.
  18. Happy Days, Welcome Back Kotter, Barney Miller.
  19. I had a couple trailer queens. I sold them to guys that will use them. It wasn't that I was afraid to use them, but they were sort of a showroom for stuff that you could have done. One was a Pixy - pixillasaurus rex. The other was an alphas type r.
  20. Fussy is an understatement. Lol.
  21. Despite the winters, where I am located is pretty good spot for northeastern bass fishing. Well over two dozen lakes within a 2 hour drive.
  22. The beginning to MV has a certain bounce to it that I like, lol.
  23. Oil and a stone. I have an automatic sharpener for when I'm in a hurry.
  24. I prefer to avoid any hardware between the rod and hook. I'll use spin shot hooks, but I prefer a direct tie to the hook.
