A private lake and a farm pond are two ENTIRELY different things. Catching unpressured bass out of a mud puddle isn't my cup of tea, and certainly does not compare to locating biting fish on a lake more than a thousand acres. Everything is relative, as well. take Richmond Mills Lake. Yes there are tons of fives. You'll be dink dropping them all day long. But, to catch an eight there, well that still takes skill.

I start at 3/8 oz. Usually roll with 1/2 oz. Bed fishing, or dragging I might go up to 3/4 or 1 oz. The only time I go light, is when I'm in current, and letting the bait tick downstream.

Anyway, I installed the "Extreme Program" last night. It's not as dramatic as I thought it would be at first, but after driving around town I started to see many changes. Holds a lower gear while cornering, real quick downshifts, even got a good hookup on a 0-60 time of 7.4 seconds with a full tank of gas. I'll be towing my boat 80 miles or so to Oneida Lake this weekend for a Take a Soldier Fishing event, so I'll be able to get some mileage data to report back as well. Hi Salenity, I was told the same thing by the techs at the dealer. When I pushed them and explained that that wasn't legal, they said that was just what they were told to say. I don't doubt that GM is using versions in their chips, but I have my doubts about the techs' ability to get it. I have to check to make sure they put the oil cap on after an oil change. Seriously. AFoster, this programmer actually allows you full customization of dozens of parameters. I just went with the preloaded programs since I was just getting started, and don't really know enough yet to build my own. It's definitely safer than DL'ing something from the internet. I've seen what can happen when things go wrong. The unit also displays and resets trouble codes, has several monitors built in, but can be expanded to include many other sensors. There's built in performance tests, and even a cool little "mileage coach" gauge that basically helps you learn to modulate the throttle gently for better fuel econ. I noticed when I was in "cruise around town" mode, I was doing pretty well, which explains the better fuel econ I see than others report. It's literally a 5 minute installation. 10 if you want to make it pretty. So, for someone not mechanically inclined, there's no reason not to look into one. Oh, did I mention you can get a back up camera for it? Yeah, I think I'll be adding that to mine.

Not sure what the question is.... If you step on it, tires chirp as it goes through the 1st three gears. It's an Alison 6-speed auto, so it runs 1st to 3rd pretty quick.

It chirps now all the way up in third now as it is. This program is basically a computerized shift kit. BTW, it's dad's truck. He might be a little upset if I roast his tires....

I don't think you'll have a problem at all in that boat. Others to look at some seat time would be OK Prowler Big Game, Malibu X-Factor, WS Ride 135, WS Commander 14.

I'm testing with dad's 5.3. Getting 7.3 seconds 0-60. Nothing fancy, no staging, just stab 'em and steer.

All I can say is wow. All I've done is go to Level 1 Tranmission Only, and just that is a huge improvement over stock, performance wise. I mean, I'm seeing a full second shaved off of 0-60 times. I'm gonna have to do baselines and performance levels on the same day to get an accurate read, but man, it feels pretty sweet. Can't wait to try out the towing and extreme performance programs! I just don't bother with a fluke in those conditions. Wrong bait for the situation, something like a jig, or T-rigged worm/creature is a better choice.

I fish big flukes nose hooked on a 2/0 Gamakatsu Wide Gap Finesse hook with a very fast, popping retrieve, almost like a topwater.

I had low blood sugar, in my kayak, about a mile from shore. Imagine my horror when I realized I had forgotten emergency glucose, and had to paddle to shore for help. My BG was 32. Luckily I phoned friends that were on the water, and they met me at the docks with a bottle of Mountain Dew. Thank God for them. I told them if they saw my paddles stop moving just to call 911. I was THAT scared. I never forget a quick source of sugar anymore. Ever.

Actually, couldn't get out to the big lake with 10' waves crashing over the breakwall in the outlet, so we stayed in the bay. Here's a sampling of the fish we caught on traps and jerkbaits. Water temps in the mid 50s, air temps, much colder. Best of the day: Freezing cold north wind in my face, lol. I'd say it was all worth it, except I kicked a brand new G.Loomis/Chronarch combo overboard. Expensive day.....
