Drop Shottin' For Smallies
I use this technique to catch small brook trout... different bait and weight, but it's a killer on the edge of the current.

Moveing to Shimano Crucial or Cumara? Have you got one/do you like it?
I wouldn't give them your business anymore. My local tackle shop has no problems even with the compre.

Cumara came in the mail
What rod would that be?

Veritas breakage issue...
It happens to all rods. Talk to enough people and you will find any story you want. I heard of two GLX's breaking. One was my fishing partners. Probably got bump in shipping or maybe at the manufacture. The other broken GLX was more then likely because of high sticking the rod... oops! $#!T happens. I don't hold it against the GLX rods and you shouldn't hold it against the Veritas.

Best most productive presentation for a finesse worm

Fluro? Really that much better?
I like Fluro for light jigs/shakeyheads because it sinks and it allows me to have better contact with the bait and bottom. I fish deep ultra clear lakes and I believe the clear line is a benefit as well. I had problems with the stiffness of the line at first, but you just need to get the feel for it and the problems go away. Go in the back yard and practice casting it.

couple of questions: Drop shotting and Fising Flukes
Fluke Jr's are awesome drop shot baits. I've thought about "power shotting" with the large flukes, but haven't tried it... Yet!

The perfect Lure
My fishing partners biggest fish was caught because he fell asleep night fishing. I was laughing at him sleeping in the passager seat with his rod sitting on his lap. He jumped up from a little nap and reeled in his PB.

Best rod for under $100
This is definately not the case with me...personally, I don't like the white finish nor the split evo grips. Regarding the sensitivity issue, I would love to hear which $100 rod people think is more sensitive than this one...I own about 20 rods in/around the $100 price range (St Croix premier, Fenwick HMX, BPS extreme, All Star, etc...) and the veritas is the most sensitive of the bunch. The All Star IM10 is probably the next most sensitive of the rods I own in that tier... OK, so maybe sensitivity very individual (how you hold it, what kind of line, what weight reel, etc.) I wish there was a way to scientifically test and rate rods' sensitivity. I guess you could just monitor vibrations or something? Tackle tour should do it, since they're into that kind of stuff. Then we could put an end to all disputes and find what rod really it the most sensitive. Travor, I've recently been researching equipment to setup this kind of test. Unfortunately, I would rather buy fishing equipment rather then testing equipment... but the day is coming.

Fish ID
I practice reading mine while my girls fish. It's good to sit down and play with the settings while you're on the water: speed up the graph then slow it down, make changes to the noise, look for arches then change the setting... find what works best for you and take the time to learn how it works. Sonars seem like they can be plugged in and give you all the answers, but the truth is... it will take time to master.

Jig fishing equipment?
I like a 7' MH casting, 1/4 to3/8 oz jigs. You might even get a rod heavy enough to stroke a 1oz jig down to 40'+... It works on my lake.

Best knot for attaching a leader to braid
I use a double uni, and never have any problems. I only use it with light line (10 lbs braid, 6 lbs floro). Usually, the floro breaks before the knot. It's easy to tie and runs through the guides good.
-
Braid or Floro?
For my shakey head fishing, I use 10 lbs braid with a 6 lbs floro leader. I use a double uni knot to link the lines. Once its on the bottom you can feel every rock. I'm thinking about switching to straight floro because of the sink factor. I don't like the way my braid floats and causes a bow in the line. I like floro for my jigs because rocks seem to eat braid and I like my line to sink on the drop.

Poll: Rod Sensitivity Casting vs. Spinning
Come on!? Keep it simple... Compare a casting and a spinning of the same model. For example: Cumara casting and Cumara Spinning. Jeez You're out smarting yourself. Best post in this thread. Classic. K.I.S.S. : X2 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You guys are killing me. Josh, you ask for an answer, then get an excellent one, then shoot this guy down. Ern, great answer. The blank doesn't know what it is destined to become. Josh, Cumara casting vs. spinning? How can you compare, are the blanks the same weight? you could use the same blank and make a casting and a spinning. Sensitivity will depend on what you put on that blank. If you use the same kind and number of guides, same reel weight, same location of the reel seat, etc. they will be the same. The more weight, the less sensitivity. Sensitivity is directly related to weight. Spinning reels are heavier, spinning guides are heavier, so unless you can find a way to combat this, the casting rod will most likely be lighter, and therefore, more sensitive. Yeah... sometimes when typing a response the emotion doesn't come acrossed the way it was intended. Too much dry sarcasm. Sorry ern. All the responses have been either informative or entertaining. More then I expected. This response had both. I like the way you answer your own questions: YOU WROTE: "Josh, Cumara casting vs. spinning? How can you compare, are the blanks the same weight?" YOU ANSWERED: "Spinning reels are heavier, spinning guides are heavier, so unless you can find a way to combat this, the casting rod will most likely be lighter, and therefore, more sensitive"

Poll: Rod Sensitivity Casting vs. Spinning
I'm just wondering what your opinion is on rod sensitivity.

Need some shakey-head advice
I love the spot remover. My biggest problem are the dinks dragging my robo worm around my the tip of the tail.
-
What weight shaky head
I like to use 1/8 or 3/16. If the conditions call for a heavier weight, I'll use a different lure.

Power Drive & Terrova, What are the differences?
I like the pedel on the power drive, and wouldn't want the terrova pedel. I'll have to consider that when I'm ready to upgrade.

Spinnerbait Rod ?
I fish open water lakes. Most of the time I just try to get a little bottom contact, so I don't need a high priced rod. But, if you are going to be using it a lot, you should think about weight and the quality of the reel.

Finesse bait
Hands down... 1/8 Spot Remover with 6" Robo worm Aaron's magic.

Power Drive & Terrova, What are the differences?
I own a 55 power drive and I like it a lot. I wish I had more power, but I needed a good deal more then I needed power. The 18ft control cord is more then enough reason to get the electic powered turning. I put my 11 and 9 yr old girls upfront and I sitting back and control the boat from wherever I want ... its awesome. I'm thinking about upgrading to the terrova 80 and getting iPilot. The waypoint routes and the anchoring using the motor would be ideal for the way I like to fish.

LET IT BE KNOWN THAT CATT WILL BE THE FIRST
Lucky man! I saw them on your website yesterday. They look good. I was browsing your site for shakey heads. I'm going to get some 1/8 Pro Series Shak-E2 Head . Those shakey heads look great. My fishing partner thinks sp*t rem*vers are great standup heads... he'll be impressed with the Shak-E2's.
-
Can you say STRUCTURE but may need to use short rods........
I'm sure the fish will love them... just like bridge pilings. The problem will be getting close enough to fish them. The power company will "own" the water and keep people from getting close enough to fish.

Rod/boat courtesy
I'll bring two rods, soft tackle bag, extra spools and/or reels, food/drinks for all and a garbage bag... I don't expect that on my boat, but I try to lead by example. I'll treat my partners stuff better then I would expect him to treat mine. AND I STAY OUT OF HIS WAY! I do expect that on my boat. I know in advance how/where we will be fishing. That helps a lot with only two rods.
