  1. You're kidding, right? :-? That thing is a spelling and grammatical abomination! I could probably find 30+ grammatical rules and spelling mistakes throughout that "apology". If I had legal representation, and I sent out something like that, I would have my own lawyer sue me on grounds of stupidity. Negative. But I guess it's hard to convey meaning in a post sometimes. I'm not saying the guy who wrote the letter was J.D. Salinger. All I'm saying is that it went from "gee shuks, eyem so blesed to have been gevin all uh them nice things by all uf'n your kind soles," to a letter that looks like it's written in english. I didn't spot any actual grammatical rules in the apology (i.e. Rule 7: Use a comma after phrases of more than three words that begin a sentence.) I did however, in my diligent search for spelling errors, count only 28 spelling mistakes. I'm not an english major though. By the by, thanks for 1. Choosing to bash my post because you're a human dictionary. 2. Deciding not to respond to my question with a "yes" or "no", or perhaps nothing at all.
  2. another siteradio.com It's wmv files so you'll have to have a player. Not really a podcast but it has all of the old interviews archived.
  3. a zebco over an avid? What the heck?
  4. I have a promax, and the box says nothing about it being a revo. I have some revos also, and while the boxes are the same (which does'nt mean much) I don't believe that they are part of the same series. They look a lot alike, but do have some subtle differences in the frame for starters. Micropterus?
  5. Poll added. Fourbizz, that was well said.
  6. I remember that the guys (basshunter69) posts were grammatical nightmares and he seemed fairly uneducated. Then we see what appears to be, barring some minor typos, a well written letter of apology from an almost different person. Did anyone else notice this? Is there a part I missed? :-? No judgement. Don't plan on getting on any wagons. Just an observation.
  7. I like roadwarriors train of thought (not because he has a lot of posts, but because he made a good point. If you followed sudden expertisim) Often, the police are the bearers of bad news. Is this maybe why race is an issue here? Why is this not an issue for paramedics or firefighters of this city? Is there a difference between the trust you need to have for your police force, and the trust you need for someone who is digging for the bullet in your stomach? Or cutting you out of the car you flipped running from the police? After reviewing funkhousers statments a little more, he alludes to the fact that "it takes a criminal to catch a criminal." Maybe........but do the police do more than just catch criminals? This is a good thread and you'all have walked a fine line gracefully.
  8. Thanks for providing more insight into what he was getting at. So, what do you think having more of any one particular color of officer is going to solve? I'm curious what you'all think about this. Does this then mean that you send white officers to a call involving white people, and an asian officer to a call with asian people, and a phillipino officer...... etc.? What happened to people being people? I feel a little like the community itself could be to blame for a lot of these problems.
  9. After the "game face" interview how could you not like the guy. He never got caught up in anyone elses BS. He was a basketball coach and a mentor and didn't try to be anything else.
  10. I was in my local cabelas recently and they have a ton of the legend series on sale. You may be able to get one on-line as well. I think they were close to half off.
  11. I digress sir. I should have been more specific in my post. I intended to include those things as examples of what a felon is. Just as your examples are felons, my examples are also encompassed in the word "felon." There are other cases for sure. I was simply trying to re-inforce a point. You are %100 percent in your extended definition. Hey bassnleo.......what dept are you on? Or if that's to close to home. City? State? Large? Small? Is it mayberry or new york?
  12. Good answer dude. Good answer.
  13. No dispute, looks like the wrong way to handle that situation. I'm familiar with a guy who works in the KC area as a member of a special narcotics unit. This officer was shot numerous times while attempting to apprehend a high-profile drug dealer after the vehicle he was in was stopped. The wounds included gunshots to the face and neck. He almost bled out at the scene. The officer was shot by a 15 year old kid, who was "just riding in the car." The officer will most likely not walk again. He has kids. That officer was the 9th one shot on that department in 2007. A few weeks later, a police dog was thrown from the roof of a building by a couple of copper thieves. 75 feet down, 35 feet out. The dog died on impact. That department received more letters of grief and gratitude from the people of the city for the dog than it did for the 9 officers combined. It's not the city, it's the attitudes of people. Sadly, most peoples mistakes don't get caught on video.
  14. So who determines the case by case basis, and how is that person chosen? not being abrasive, just trying to keep these ideas going.
  15. Alpster, I don't know anything about breeding elephants, but can offer plenty of poor advice. PM me if interested.
  16. Those are really good points. I think the hard part would be how do you know who you're really dealing with? Some guys made a bad decision, some guys are bad people. How do you tell the difference? slomoe, how does that work? How do you not be in possession of something at all, or invloved with it at all outside of an isolated incident, and then get three felony counts of distribution? What, should you choose to volunteer it, are the other details of the incident?
  17. Pain- completely agree. Just as in anything else, half of the population is below average. So back to this felon thing........ I wonder if most people know what "felon" really means? Can't vote, can't have a gun, can't do a lot of things. Aside from the obvious (murder, robbery) you have to do some really high-speed stuff to be a felon. Rape, burglary, shooting at but not killing someone, arson. Would you want a guy who used to break-in to houses coming to your house to take a report for you? Or how about a past sexual offender looking for your lost daughter.
  18. to preface, I think you're talking about spinning reels maybe. If not, BPS makes a baitcast series called the nitro. It supposed to be a braid reel. the sales guy also said that it isn't full-price good. Maybe on sale. If you were talking about spinning reels then I don't have anything to contribute and am an idiot.

In my rant I forgot to add that I'm glad things have taken a better turn for your family.

fish-fightin-illini I'm w1-10, I had to change my account. thanks for your words. I don't really mope around and feel like I made a mistake or anything. I guess it's just having the exprosure to the other world that regular people don't ever see. It makes you do odd things sometimes. I always look at people's hands when they first come into view, for example. I tend to dis-regard converstaions or other interaction if a person or an action catches my eye. It just makes things different, if that makes any sense. We're really popular when people are getting shot at, but not so much when they roll through a stop sign. That can draw a line between "us" as a group of professionals, and "them" as the general public. Everybody has seen the news where they show a copper doing something stupid and they say "oh, he should'nt have done that." Taking things at face value and assuming that they know exactly what took place. Everybody on this forum works, or has worked, with an idiot. It just tends to be cops that gets lumped together. People don't say "UPS drivers a lazy and un-professional" because of one driver. I guess it's easy for civilians to do because they assume they know what our job is. It's easy to fall into one's own arrogance and assume your knowledge is broader than it really is. Bakers bake, roofers roof, truck drivers drive trucks, etc. We just get a lot more publicity because people feel like they should be able to judge what we do, even if they are the first to dive under a table when stuff gets hot. It's easy to quarterback when you've never held the ball I guess.
  21. I wasn't really looking for any kind of answer. The jokes are just as good as the not-jokes. redneckriot - that was great usage of mclovin
  22. what are some of the others? I was pulled over 23 times before I hit the age of 18. they would call it a "Procedure Stop", keep me there for 20 mins and then let me go. Well, it sounds like you've had some bad experiences. If you were stopped 23 times. You did 23 different things wrong, at least according to your civil rights, and the lack of someones authority to violate them. If you didn't get a ticket, it's a possibility that they chose not to give you one. They most likely kept you there for 20 minutes so that they could run your driving record and choose weather or not to give you a ticket. In your case it looks like 22 different cops decided not to based on the fact that each one before them chose the same. Please just try to be mindful of classifying an entire group of people into a generalization based on speculation. It would be the same thing as someone telling you that all patriots fans are idiots, because some patriots fans do idiot things.
  23. what are some of the others?
  24. I don't have the direct quote, but the mayor of Kansas City MO stated (not verbatim) that there needed to be more minority representation on the police dept. and that people who have a previous non-violent felony should be allowed to be police officers. seems nieve, since felons can't carry guns, and a little racist. what do you guys think?
