  1. I'm not so much interested in the how or why, but I do have a question. Did you ex-member yourself by changing your screen name? Your user name is still in green. If you said something that someone didn't like then politely tell them that this isn't a slumber party and sometimes feelings get hurt when ideas are shared. Maybe a bassresource hug-it-out gathering can be organized to put all the folks with delicate sensiblities at ease and we can do this less.
  2. Yeah, whatever. I'm not sure because I don't ever buy things at full price. Probably an avid with a revo premier on it.
  3. So I started getting the boat ready for better weather and made a list of all things to upgrade or get: ProMariner® Prosport Series On-Board Marine Battery Charger - 12/24/36 (3 bank) Minn Kota® Edge Bow Mount Trolling Motor - 70 Edge - 45" Shaft SeaSense® Self Centering Boat Roller -- X2 SeaSense® Low-Profile LED Trailer Light Kit RAM Mounts® Ball & Socket Mount for Humminbird Fishfinders and Matrix Fishing Systems -- X2 Boat Buddy® Trailer Accessory -- replaces the trailer winch New carpet and a flat foot install Before I start shoveling cash into this list, are there any glaring issues you guys have had before with any of this equipment?
  4. Hey muddy, I'm not sure what exactly you meant by saying that you can't get the cone thing down but this concept helped me at first: Think of it like you're pointing a flashlight through the hull of the boat to the bottom of the lake. The light will expand as it gets deeper but it will stop in places when it hits something. Any help? :-/ Understanding how the "cone" displays the bottom is relative to the size of said cone as well. A dual beam transducer will show more of the bottom. A single beam, less. A single beam transducer may only show you a circle of the bottom that is roughly three feet sometimes. Point: The cone gets bigger as it gets deeper, like a flashlight beam.
  5. Diggin up an old thread..... I'm in south Kansas City, redbridge/waldo area if you know where that is? I spend most of my time on a little, little lake named tapawingo because my parents own a house there. I've always got a boat launched when there's no ice so that's pretty awesome. I worked at the Jacomo marina as a kid teaching people how to drive boats and plan to spend time there this year and see how my memory of the layout holds up. Blue springs looks like it's got potential but I've not fished it yet.
  6. I read about these areas in the latest Missouri Game and Fish. Anyone on here native to these areas or fish them before? I'm thinking of making 2 day trips and want some insight on what you think before I drive 4-8 hours. Seven Island - near East Prairie on the Kentucky line. Meramec River between Pacific and Allenton (or anywhere else) - St. Louis area. LaBella Lake - LaBella Missouri.
  7. I guess that I'm in the minority. I like Ike's videos purely for the content of knowldege versus the amount of time spent ratio. I think you get more out of a 1 hour video with him than anyone else. He's really clear and concise in the one's I've seen (classic patterns, ike's rules, etc.), and provides start to finish instruction. He acts like a jacka** sometimes, but he's usually in the money. The other teachers are good, but usually all utilize the same type of instruction. Rick Clunn is a bit more introspective. That said, I like KVD's books.
  8. no weather yet. I read a TON of reviews on the tent. I shopped it for a year before I bought it...... It has a basin or tub style floor. Are you familiar with what that is? If not I can explain. I'm positive that ground water won't be a problem with it. Rain isn't an issue from what I've read, but I have no personal experience to go off.
  9. I just got the cougar flats tent. I'm not sure how to post the link to the thread but I just posted pics on bassresource maybe two weeks ago under the title "new tent". Huge tent with the two room split that you want. I have an 80lb dog also. It has enough room for him. Set-up was 45 minutes by myself the first time I put it up, under half that with two people once you get the layout. I know it wasn't one of your two options but, they changed the color options this year so you may be able to pick up last years cougar flats for half of retail. It's a great tent from what I've seen of it.
  10. I'll get in on a we send them toothpaste, they send us parsnip chips option. J/K No really, I will.
  11. If fluoro would make it sink, and mono would make it float, split the difference and use copolymer?
  12. I've not fished from a canoe, but I have spent a lot of time conoeing. You don't need more than one paddle. A longer one for more power, or shorter one for more maneuverability. Cabelas makes a bag that will snap onto the beams that run the width of the canoe that is waterproof. These are good for odds and ends like your wallet, keys, phone, etc. You won't lose them if you happen to dump it. Hope that's a bit of help.
  13. hey dean, This is a really cool idea. You should keep these kinds of posts going.
  14. Do you guys have them? Do you like them? What else are they for other than reducing vibration? http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10151&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&partNumber=98612&hvarTarget=search&cmCat=SearchResults
  15. Is there a specific reason why you do this?
  16. cinnamon? kind of a green pumkin red sort of color green pumpkin/green flake black/blue flake everything already stated and I like them on a jig also. Just bite a section of the tail to trim it down if need be. I catch fish with them.
  17. Thank god for the court system.
  18. define "greet" How many troopers does it take to hit a handcuffed bank robber? None HE FELL DOWN THE STAIRS they buy the ticket they get the ride. :-X Some do it the right way, some don't. Either way, if you do what your supposed to, you don't really see much of the police.

Anybody who is reading this that didn't read the original thread, click the link and take the time to read it. There's a lot of backstory there.
  20. Does a real chicago dog count? It's basically a sandwich. You have to eat it with two hands........

I'm not sure why I'm compelled to posts this but here goes: Last night the guy I ride with and I are headed down 71 HWY to meet up with some of the other guys I work with to see what some of the dope dealers are doing in the hood. We see this road rage incident going down ahead of us. One driver is more or less trying to run another driver off the road, or at least making it look like he's going to. Either way, what he's doing is dangerous and out of line. We decide to pull him over. He exits the highway, comes to a stop, waits for a minute, rolls backwards towards us as he tries to put his car in gear, then takes off. We stay with the car, but maintain a safe enough distance so that we're not "involved." The helicoptor is moving in to keep this car in sight and call out directions. We start to back off so that the helicoptor can pick it up. This guy was easily doing 80+. This is on city streets. Downtown streets. He runs 5 red lights, clips a car at an intersection, loses control of the car, hits a light pole and is ejected at some point, head-ons a dumpster. The whole thing went about 10 blocks and lasted maybe a minute or so. He died. The passenger lived. The people in the car he clipped lived (a lady, her boyfriend, and a child). Really no one had any major injuries except him. I'm not sure what it was medically that killed him, but his body had contorted in ways that a body is not designed to. When he came to rest, he was basically wrapped around what was left of a parking meter. The light pole he hit had pieces later found a block and a half down. All that for what? When we got up to him he gurgled a little and died. It's ironic that the last people he's with on earth were the last people he wanted to be with. The weird thing though is that we stopped another car tonight, another drunk, at the same place where this whole thing started. This guy just pulled over and owned up to the choices he made. Two roads diverged in a wood I guess..........
  23. Sometimes I wish there were a thread of the best quotes by members. This would be one of my nominations. Direct and unobtrusive, but humorous. I have used a lizard in a lizard-less lake and i caught fish with it.

It has an LED light that is remote controlled also. There's various velcro points in the tent, the roof and such, where you can stick the light so that you don't have to mumblef*** you're way around in the dark. The ventilation system is awesome also. You can see it in the pictures. Under the bay windows, it's the smaller half circle window under the larger ones. I'd venture to say that the temp is probably 5-10 degreees cooler inside. Maybe more. In the inside picture there's a mesh hanging loft also for storing stuff. Just an all-around, well thought out product.
