Guntersville in October
My partner I and will be traveling to and from Louisiana in October. We'll be passing through and would love to fish Guntersville with someone that would be willing to take a couple characters out to fish. We are both potty trained and would be considerate guests on a bass boat.

- Guess the lure name
Both have double wire arms with blades. The second pivots at the joint behind the line tie.- Guess this lure continued...
When I purchased one of my boats, the Captain I purchased it from, told me to back my truck up to his shed. He unloaded a truck load of old tackle. Rods, reels, props, boxes, lures, rope, etc. As I plowed through it all I came across these four baits. Two look like precursers to current baits. Two of them have names stamped into the bill. Two are true mysteries...for now. Two in this post, two in another.- Guess the lure name

There was a three day event held in Richmond this past weekend.- Fishing Fleamarkets
He explained and it made sense.- Fishing Fleamarkets
That list is from all over the area. You may want to delete it though, Glenn said he'd rather not post actual events. I'd like to keep this conversation going for a bit.- Kistler Question

What is an SP? (I can't figure it out)- Fishing Fleamarkets
Some are very much like that. Some guys sell $500 or more at one table.- Becoming a bass guide: getting started
My fishing partner and best friend has been a part time multi-species guide for 24 years. Over the last ten, he kept trying to get me to join him, as he was turning away business because he didn't have enough time to do the trips. (we work full time jobs). He kept insisting that I was fully capable and I needed to just get to it. One of the things for me was a trepidation regarding a USCG Captain's license. It is required when you fish navigable waters. I hadn't had to do any serious learning and take a three hour exam in thirty years...that was a concern for me. Finally, I just said okay and threw myself into the course and the exam. Three years later, I'm doing great. It's hard work and a lot of prep of tackle, boats and expensive licensing. It costs me roughly $1200 a year for a MD guides license, boat license and insurance every year and that doesn't include boat and trailer registration fees. (and I'm sure I am missing some other expense...that my wife will always remind me of...LOL) Then there's fuel and maintenance and start up and replacement tackle and ramp fees...get the picture? It's funny when some people scoff at how much a trip costs, believe me, we are not getting rich. Anyone that is an avid fisherman and thinks that it would be a dream job has never done it. It is hard work. The charter Captains I know that are full time work their butts off. For me, once I'm fishing in the black (that what we call it when we have done enough trips to cover our licensing overhead) it is a fun way to make a few dollars doing something you love to do. Every once in a while, usually over cocktails, my buddy will ask, "well, do you love me or hate me for getting you into this life"? I always answer, "yes".- Bass Jig Weed Guards : Fan Out OR Leave Alone ?
No trimming at all...?- Fishing Fleamarkets
I am not going to mention specifics so as not to run afoul of forum rules. If it skirts the rules, just delete and I'll understand. I am just curious to see if these happen all around the BR members locales. For as long as I can remember here in the DC/MD/VA area, we have many fishing fleamarkets during the winter months. They usually start the second week of January and go until the middle of March. Some are strickly bass fishing oriented, some are salt and some are a combination of many types of fishing. They are usually put on by bass clubs and fishing organizations. One of them here actually benefits Wounded Warriors and Heroes on the Water. They are usually a combination of tackle shops, independent tackle dealers and regular guys trying to sell their tackle. The absolute best are the ones where all the vendors are just regular guys like us selling their gear to finance buying more. You wouldn't believe the deals to be had on rods, reels and tackle at these fleamarkets. Imagine BR's fishing fleamarket section but you are able see and feel everything. Are there these types of events in your parts of the country?- Shimano Calcutta D or Lews BB2
I've handled the Calcutta 200D and own a 100D. They feel very small in your hand for a round reel because of the new design. While I haven't actually fished mine yet, (lot's of yard casting) I hear that the retreive under load is effortless. (I think A-Jay did a review) Go with the Calcutta.- Anyone order from Japan Lure Shop?
I have order once from both Japan Lure Shop and Digitaka. Both went well. Both don't communicate well or timely. I had a delivery address issue that I was concerned about. They got all the emails and everything went fine. It's the not getting timely responses that causes a little anxiety. I will definitely order again. Both are very good vendors and shipping is fast.- Won an eBay Auction
For the 90's, sure. No complaints.- Won an eBay Auction
I used to have that Daiwa.- Great Prank
- Pistol Grip Rods - What's Your Opinion Of Them?
There is a tackle shop down from my office that has a St. Croix pistol grip rod.- Ironic Or What?
Try a custom muffler shop.- Star Wars **spolier, don't enter
Is this like the original one with Capt Kirk and Mr Spock? Or, Capt Picard and Number One? I like both... Oh wait...Star Wars I should probably see it. That way when Family Guy does the take off, I'll be able to follow better.- Bourbon (And All Things Whiskey. Or Whisky, If You Like Scotch)
My fishing partner and best bud discovered Willliam Wolf Pecan Bourbon. http://thefourbarrels.blogspot.com/2014/05/review-of-william-wolf-aged-premium.html - Guess the lure name
