Really awkward situation last night
I have been married for 19 years and with her for 23. when I was in my 20's, I used to confront guys that did that. Probably all due to my own insecurity. 23 years later, I am complimented by guys looking, just don't cross the line. I also have always had a rule even when I was young. Never give the eye to any girl who is with someone else. It is a matter of respect for all involved.

Spanking our children
I think what the government tries to prevent is abuse. Spanking is not abuse. Unfortunately there are many parents/adults that go to far. It is in the news almost everyday. It was mentioned in the Washington Post yesterday in an article about the coverage of the death of Shawn Taylor, a 2 year old girl was beaten to death. It was buried in the new and got very little attention. :'( I grew up with friends and family whose father used the belt for every offense large or small. It did very little to keep them from getting in trouble. Only to make them slicker about not getting caught.

What to get the wives?
I remember when Homer bought Marge the bowling ball for her birthday. He he had it engraved for her. I think it said HOMER. We all remember how that turned out.

Citica Reel
I mean, even if you were to throw away the reel (throw it to me), you still got a great rod for $30.
-
Citica Reel
Still a great deal. Especially on the rod. www.castawayrods.com. click on standard graphite freshwater. Scroll down the the JT6'6". The picture used for all of the rods in the Jerk and Twitch. You can see what a deal you fell into, if only $30 just for the rod.

got the wrong reel
Isn't there a thread somewhere involving a golf club? I remember the consensus being "do the right thing"

Citica Reel
The reel is a 5:1 ratio. It is an older model. I have owned them and they fine reels and are worth the $15. The only money not worth it was the changing of the gears. The Castaway rod what they call a Jerk and Twitch (JT) I am a big fan of Castaway rods. They were born out of All Star about 20 years ago by the Kistlers. (now Kistler Rods) I have owned many of Castaways standard graphite rods. The have been among the lightest and most sensitive standard graphite rods I have ever used. If it is an HG-40 (it will say it on the blank) even better. Either way if you got that as part of a combo for $15, I should be so lucky.

How often do you upgrade or buy new rods and reel?
New stuff comes out in the winter (as Russ said, and I think they do this on purpose) I have found that when I can't fish, I buy. Very little urge to buy anything from March to November then, BAM, I start to get the urge to buy.

Retirement
An old career army officer was at his own retirement party in his full dress uniform. A young woman noticed him and started flirting. She told him how good he still looked in his uniform for his age. After a while, she was bold enough to ask when he had last had sex. "1955 ma'am." She looked around and then escorted him upstairs to a bedroom. They both undressed and went at it for at least 30 minutes. When they were finished and were dressing, the young woman commented that he was really good and hadn't forgotten anything since 1955. He replied, " I hope not ma'am, it's only 2100 now. It was only an hour and a half ago."

The devil
One Sunday morning during church services, there is a cloud of smoke and the devil appears. The congregation ran for the exits including the preacher. All but one old man. The devil asked the old man if he knew who he was. The old man says "yep." The devil asked, "you're not afraid?" Old man said "nope." The devil asked, "don't you know that I can kill you right here?" Old man said, "yep." Devil asks, "you're not afraid?" Old man says, "nope." Devil says, "I can not only kill you but, I can send you to hell and torture you for eternity." "Do you understand that?" the devil asks. Old man says, "yep." "Are you still not afraid?" Old man says, "nope?" At this point the devil is frustrated and sits down next to the old man. Why are you not afraid? Old man says, "I've been married to your sister for 46 years.

old St Croix Premier...?
That model is very old. Two or three changes ago. You can get the newest model new for $30 more. I'm surprised a company like Dick's still has that rod in their stock. Most large companies dump the old model when a new one is coming out. (Just like Dick's did with the Avid) You usually find mom and pop's with old stock like that because they can't afford to dump them like the big guys can. $40 or so might be a good price. Not a bad rod, just not for $70.

IN SEARCH OF VALUE AND NOT NAMES
What I meant to say before my stubby's hit the wrong key was, the next time you get a birds nest in braid, dig your thumb into the spool and crank the reel handle a few times. Sometimes it works like magic. OR, at least make it a lot easier.

- Shimano reel grips interchangable to other brands?
I have Curado 200's and 100 D's. I like the size of the grips on the 200's. The 100's are smaller. I use those slip on grips the 100's and love them.- Rod Question For the Rod Gurus Here.
I never get tired of seeing that story come up. It's a great reminder so as not to get caught up in the marketing game.- Is this worth fixing?
I was a vendor at a fishing flea market a couple of years ago. Near the end, one of the other vendors threw away a BPS Crankin Stik. I took it out of the trash can and almost sold it that day, when a customer pointed out it had a missing guide. Took it to be repaired and sold it at a different market a few weeks later. Free rod, $4 fix, sold for $25, $21 made for someone else's trash. Or I could have kept it. Either way, unless the damage is severe, get'r fixed.- Telescopic rods
I am talking about a flipping type.- Telescopic rods
Experienced opinions please on the differences (advantages / disadvantages) between telescopic and one piece rods. - Shimano reel grips interchangable to other brands?
