DALE CITY VA. Bass Fishing Flea Market
A few deals I saw go down. Older Shimano Metanium $60 Stradic 4000 FH $65 St. Croix Premier 7' MF Spinning $25 (missing one guide) New in the sleeve Castaway Soft Touch 6'6"M $60 Plano 360 box containing: 2 X-Caliber Zell Pops 3 Original Rebel Pop R's 1 Storm Chug Bug 3 other poppers all for $10 One of the most interesting table was a guy that collected Jitter Bugs He had a box of wood bodies (about 50) from the 1950's and 60's. In those days Arborgast would send people the components to assemble at home. They would send them back assembled and ready to package. I only picked up one bait. A New 1/2 oz. Secret Weapon Spinnerbait, $2. It retails for $8. I'm sure many more went down. You Northern VA and MD guys mark your calenders for next year. Tons of great stuff.

DALE CITY VA. Bass Fishing Flea Market
Yes to the deals are worth it. It is 99% fishing. A few guys have some non-fishing related items thrown in. Get there early for the best stuff. Remember to negotiate.

Maryland State (Tidal) Record Bass
I knew about the state record bass. I worked with a guy that claimed it was his Uncle. I also thought that a 10# fish was caught from the same area within the last two years. I don't know why the records are split. I have a friend that I will see tomorrow that might know. I'll ask.

I remember that. I also remember LBH making reference recently about it being a long story. Please Dad, tell us the story.

DALE CITY VA. Bass Fishing Flea Market
It will take me an hour to get there from MD. I've been going for so many years, I feel like I can't not go. I have been a vendor a few times. It is good to get out and see everybody.

Update on Basshunter 69
I saw him on another site as recently as 2 weeks ago. He was claiming that he couldn't buy any "good" reels because he had just been robbed, and didn't have much money. A few comments later, he was hinting that he would accept donations of equipment. I think maybe you guys going to Alabama, should pay him a visit. (someone video it please)

DALE CITY VA. Bass Fishing Flea Market
Doors stay open until 1:00 usually. At about 11:30 if things are slow some guys start packing up and leaving. But, there are usually people there until the end. My favorite is Bernie Shultz. He is usually there selling original Sugar Shads. (before they were owned by Luhr Jensen)

DALE CITY VA. Bass Fishing Flea Market
Friday 2/2 at the Hillendale Fire House at the corner of Hillendale Drive and Dale Blvd, Dale City, VA. Doors open at 8a.m. Usually $2 to get in. Lots of regular guys just selling their gear. If you go early, I'll usually be hanging out at the Indian Head Charters table. I'm about 6' 230lbs and no hair. The guy that owns Indian Head Charters is actually a member (though inactive) of BR. I'll be there for a couple of hours in the a.m.

Are any of you guys from Virginia (or Maryland) going to this flea market tomorrow. It has been going on for 15 years. Some great used equipment to be had for good prices.

Spinning vs B/C for Worm & Jig Fishing
If you have watched the video from Shimano with Larry Dalberg catching those big ocean fish on a spinning rod and reel, you'd see how strong spinning reels can be. I was always told that a spinning rod was inherently stronger than bait casting rods due to guide placement. Which is one of the advantages of spiral wrapped bait casting rods. There is a short video from Doug Hannon on the subject. He prefers spinning rods for jigs.

Anybody here a coffee connoisseur?
Like LBH, I'm happy with my Maxwell House. In the event I need to get it out, I'll take Dunkin Donuts (blind tasters picked it over Starbuck's) One brand I will never hesitate to buy, believe it or not over all of them, is the new McDonald's gourmet coffee. Also, I was always told to, "learn to drink it black and you will never be disappointed."

Shimano Sustain 3000
I don't know if this has been posted yet. I haven't seen it. At the show in Timonium MD a few weeks ago, the Shimano reps were handing this DVD to people. It ran on VERSUS and is on You Tube. Fish caught while fishing for bait on a Crucial and a 3000 series Sustain.
