  1. I had a guide I know tell me he likes red hooks because when the red comes off they are a bright brass color. Scientist come to our aid, I believe that red does disappear first, the deeper a bait gets. In clear water, I could see where it COULD be an advantage. Stained water, the way the science works, I just don't think it matters as much.

I think that every name change should require all of the former names. Maybe some place at the bottom of the page. There are times when I have missed a day or so to get on and see names I've never seen that have hundreds of posts. This way anyone could look down and say, "who is this? Oh, it's (insert previous name here)" Just a thought.
  3. Sometimes we who get at least some snow every winter and those who get it regularly, forget how a new fallen snow looks, especially at night. Beautiful. (unless you have to go out in it or get stuck in traffic because of it)
  4. I believe that with internet shopping, tax is paid when the company is in the state in which you live. Hence, muddy paid tax in PA and brokejaw paid tax in CA.
  5. FANTASTIC! Maybe this should pop up every time a new user joins the club.
  6. Castaway HG40 Jig and Worm rod for $89. $159 new.
  7. Woo Daves once said that if you are not tying the palomar knot, you are tying the wrong knot.
  8. WHY

Another way to ask it is, "why do husbands die before wives?" They want to. On topic, (sort of) I've said it before and will again. This Everything Else board is my favorite. I spend more time here than anywhere on the site.
  9. A friend at work smoked from age 9 to 47. Heart attack at 47. Hasn't smoked since. That was September 2007. Gained some weight but doing fine. Weight is gained somewhat because you regain your sense of taste and smell.
  10. I fold It takes a big man to admit when he's out of his league. (sewer trout league that is)
  11. Best value and safety, FedEx Ground. MD to Washington State, $17. In a 7' PVC tube. Go to their website and punch in the dimensions.
  12. Post questions on the everything else board asking about our underwear, deodorant and stuff like that. ;D
  13. Maybe some might make themselves known?
  14. The season cannot begin soon enough.

May the Lord give all of those involved his healing. Amen. :'(
  17. Tide should be moving. Last 2 hours of outgoing, first 2 hours of incoming.
  18. I once fished a small private pond with a friend. It was his uncles' pond and they had stocked it years before. I tried and tried with a majority of lures. Nothing. He caught bass after bass on big shiners. He said they had been feeding (fishing with only live shiners) for years since they were kids and the fish were conditioned to only hitting live shiners. I tied on a jerk bait and started catching fish. My friend was shocked. Match the hatch. Use a blue gill imitator.
  19. Age

    43 in April.
  20. For your applications, you could use the Castaway Standard Graphites. I use both the HG-40 and Standards. IMHO no need for the HG-40 for lipless baits.
  21. I like them. Especially on spinning rods to cover the threads on the reel seat.
