  1. Jay Yelas has been fishing professionally for 18 years and Mark Davis has been fishing professionally for 23 years!! These guys are not the new kids on the block. Denny Brauer has only fished 2 years longer than Davis so why would he be in and not the other guys? Sorry to rant.
  2. AMEN. And everyone says, "What could have been?" But these anglers are being measured on accomplishments, not what could have been.
  3. oh I almost forgot. Gary Klein doesn't have enough on his resume? ? BMCs fished: 22 FLW Championships fished: 6 BASS Titles: 8 BASS AOY 1989 BASS AOY 1993 I WISH I had a resume like this!!!
  4. Whoa, that is crazy. Those last three are the best of the best but KVD, Yelas and Davis are absolutely incredible. 5. I know that the people voted. If the "real" fishermen voted, the list wouldn't look like the way it does.
  6. That show is a complete joke. Mark Davis and Larry Nixon out before Bill Dance or even Denny Brauer? ? ? If Dance isn't voted out by next week, I am writing to the show. My top ten goes like this: 1) RICK CLUNN 2) Roland Martin 3) Larry Nixon 4) Kevin Van Dam 5) Mark Davis 6) Gary Klein 7) Denny Brauer 8) Jay Yelas 9) Hank Parker 10) Bill Dance
  7. YEAH! Give me a break! I wish there were more sites like this. This site is on a level all by itself.
  8. Wow, floro huh? Never would have thunked it. I'd never use floro because of the lack or stretch that you need and it doesn't seem to cast as good as mono. I use P-Line for cranking but I am thinking about changing back to Trilene XT. It was a lot more limp and it had a little more stretch.
  9. ONE of the best sites? ? ? I would love to see one that compares! And I am with Raul on this one. I live in Kansas and I am seriously going to move to Texas soon ONLY because the bass fishing is so good down there...oh and also because the woman said so.
  10. Well I have decided the only way is to buy another cover. The cover I have is shot anyway. :-/
  11. I love to put up a electric fence and buzz those annoying cats!!
  12. How do you keep cats out of a bass boat short of killing them??!!!?!!?
  13. Well to me that might be a temp factor instead of a time thing. I understand what you are saying, but time is not a factor when the water is warm early in the day and then a serious cold front comes in and drastically changes the water temp in the mid day. You use topwaters in the morning during the summer because there is not a lot of light and the water temp is cooler, not because they heard a rooster crow.
  14. The Lawrence Bass Club needs non-boaters. Anyone interested?
  15. I have season up there and I don't really think bass wear watches.
  16. Ok this post is sort of related to my Fishing Factors post. Who knows a lot about barometric pressure? I have never really considered it. How does it affect bass? What are the ranges? Is there a production curve associated? School me guys!!! ;D
  17. Wow that log is really cool. This site never ceases to amaze me. INCREDIBLE JOB GLENN! What I am actually looking into is if there is a way to create a computer program to spit out recommended baits for a given set of conditions. 8)
  18. I knew I was forgetting some stuff! Good job guys! What the heck are ya talking about?
  19. I know, I know... this is such a basic question. The reason I ask is because I am going to try to put together a quick reference cheat sheet. The factors I have are: Wind Water Color Cold Front? Cloud Cover Season Water Temp Bio-cycle Cover Structure Forage Please indulge me. Am I forgetting anything?
  20. I second that. I don't think you can be picky most of the time. Kinda like how KVD is sponsored by Nitro ... you know he'd rather be sponsored by Ranger!
  21. That's what I was looking for. Sorry, if I was sponsored by Quantum, I would HATE to have to use their stuff.
  22. What a can of worms you just opened. (Pun intended) Senkos can be fished Texas rigged, Carolina rigged, pegged, weightless, wacky, drop shot, internally weighted, yada yada yada... Which rig you try will determine what tackle you use. Look at these articles and that might help you get started: https://www.bassresource.com/fishing/senko.html https://www.bassresource.com/fishing/soft_sticks.html
  23. Well I had rods and reels in mind mostly when I posted this. There is such a difference between a so-so rod and a top o'the line Grandt, G Loomis or Kistler.
  24. I know that when you become professional and as you collect sponsors, you are only allowed to use their products. But do they ALWAYS abide by this law??? Gez, I personally would hate to have hundreds of thousands of dollars on the line and not have equipment I am not 100% confident about. I mean, most of these guys try to support their family this way, why would they want to use sub-par equiptment? Even if they do only use the sponsors equipment at tournaments, do they get to use the the fancy stuff in their off time? I know a pro who is sponsored by a company that I think sells junk, but I really think he believes in the stuff. If it were me, I'd want to be sponsored by Lucky Craft, G Loomis, Shimano, Ranger, Mustad and P-Line! ;D
  25. When it's windy, that keys me onto a spinnerbait for the reasons explained above. Typically it's best to throw upwind and retreive because bass face into the current and that way you'll be bringing the bait right into their faces. Although this is not always easy fishing.
