No offense taken. I have a thick skin for discussion on message boards and usually end up getting them locked. Hopefully, we can avoid that one. Here's a question to ask your 20 friends in the oil biz. "What EPA regulations or gov't taxes changed to cause the price of gas to rise so quickly? (to $4 a gallon) And conversely what changed to cause them to drop back down to under $3 a gallon?" The answer to both of those questions is nothing. The thing that changed was worldwide demand coupled with the supply. There is no question that gas taxes are expensive, but they aren't responsible for the latest run up in prices. I admit they (EPA/gov.) arent responsible for the sudden changes, the reason for the changes, like you said are do to the market. However, they (my friends) said the reason for the high prices period, is EPA/gov taxes. But hey, there ain't nothin we can do about it. The prices are high, and I'm pretty sure they're gonna stay that way!!! -Ike

Well................ I picked up my jeep from the muffler shop Thursday. I got it registed and all that then I took it to get inspected, it passed. So I drove it around town for a while. Then Friday I was workin all day so I drove it around a bunch then too. On the way hime the clutch started going out. I could shift it once it got rolling, but couldn't get it into gear from a stand still. Anyways, the Master & Slave cyliders need to be replaced. I went by O' Riley yesterday, and the parts are about $130! So I'll be putting them on today, and hopefully I'll have it ready to roll by next week!! What really SUCKS is, I was gonna take a buddy of mine mudding today. Oh, well. Not anymore!! I let ya'll see some pics once I get my custom lisence plates in. 8-) -Ike

A catalytic converter converts (shocking huh?) the REALLY bad exhaust fumes into not so bad ones. Acid rain is directly attributable to nitrogen oxides in the air which without a catalytic converter is emitted from your exhaust. Acid rain is not so good for lakes, streams, etc and smog is not so good for urban areas. How is a catalytic converter "out of hand"? Because you can't have your exhaust sound super loud? Sure I did, but instead of holding onto an uninformed opinion I researched the issue. Environmentalists have little to do with the current fuel prices (even when they were much higher). I don't want to start some major argument or have anything get out of hand.......... But, I personally know about 20 people in the oil business. From people making multi million dollar descisions everyday, to refinery workers. I've talked to them and they said the main reason gas is so high is, EPA regulations, and Goverment taxes. And in answer to your question, yes I do like my truck EXTRA LOUD!! No disrespect or offense intended. -Ike

Never really understood this line of thinking from someone who enjoys outdoor activities. Shouldn't fishermen (outdoorsmen in general) want to protect the environment that they enjoy? Guess I'm just weird. :-/ Oh, I'm all for conserving our enviroment and all that. It's just when it gets all out of hand!! Ever wonder why gas prices are where they're at?? You guessed it envriomentalists!! Same thing with Diesel Fuel!! enviromentasts just get in the way of everything!! The cops don't check for cats or mufflers when they pull ya over or nothin. Just they guy who does the state inspection does, just to make sure you're doing whatever some big wig EPA dillweed says you're suppossed to. On my buddy's truck he just got a clamp on muffler and cat, and puts it on just for inspection. The other 364 days a year he's got a straight pipe! I'll be takin it in today. Wish me luck! -Ike

I just dropped off my Jeep at the exhaust shop. I'll pick it up tomorrow, and hopefully pass inspections. If all goes well I'll have it legal by the end of tomorrow. -Ike

And it sounds d**n good! I drove an 89 supercharged 5.0 and it had 40's with high flow cats, I just stood there in awe of the looks and sound 8-). Probably the nicest muscle car I have ever seen. Come to RI, we'll show you how we roll. Oh...and cats? Cats are a must here seeing as we do emissions testing. lucky for you, RI does not. As a matter of fact they do! I need some advice on fishing the South end of Lake Houston, around Dunsen Park. I'll be taking a 10 year old kid who just lost his dad. He lives pretty close to the South side so I figured I'd take him there. I don't plan on taking a boat, and I'd like to start him of on bream, and that kinda stuff, then work up to bass as his love of fishing increases. Also Sheldon Resivior is near by (actually closer!!!) And if anybody has some tips for that I'd appreciate it!! I've fished there once, but I don't know it too well. Thank's a ton!!! -Ike
