Fish the same general area you do in spring just deeper. If you have enough wind to drift try that to help cover water. You could also use an electric trolling motor to keep you moving. The trick is go slow enough that you keep in contact with the bottom but still cover some ground until you get bit. After your first fish you could throw out a marker buoy & then work that area over more thourghly.

I use the owner ST-41BC 2X for my heavier baits. No problems with them.

Did you grow up with a belt, a wooden spoon or what ever was handy for punishment when you stepped out of line. When someone was sent to the principals office for the 2nd time was there a wooden paddle on display with holes drilled in the business end to aide in faster deploy of said handle? I wouldn't be surprised if you stepped out of line once or twice. Thst was and is normal behavior .

The two best I have found are Seaguar Smackdown & Daiwa Samurai. They run smaller diameter than most so the rated line test is much closer to breaking strength than most others. The best is not necessarily the strongest.

Roger I respectively agree that a 2nd link increases the chance for failure. I am a very strong advocate of quality snaps for a long time fishing for many different species. I use snaps for all jerkbaits, almost all topwater & all crank baits and all musky & pike baits. I can honestly say I have never had a failure from a snap. I use quality duo lock snaps & most recently owner hyper welded snaps. I do use snaps rated higher in breaking strength than my main line rated breaking point. If you look at all the Luhr Jensen baits they come from the factory with duo snaps installed. Many other bait manufactures do as well including JDM baits like Gan Craft jointed claw. I personally like tying to a snap so I can change baits quickly without reting. I do often retie my snap as the progresses. I usually replace the snap based on the size & strength of the target species.

There is a gentleman on here that goes by WRB that has caught some monster bass on hair jigs. They do work.

The 19' fishmaster is a 19 degree deadrise like my 20' 2" STX but the 2100 fishmaster is only 15 degree deadrise. He got a 20' 10" boat length but lost out on the deadrise. Lund doesn't publsh deadrise angles but the figure I usually heard was around 14-15 degrees. That is probably why he didn't like it compared to his Baron. I'll bet he has never ridden in an STX. Both the Baron & Tyee are Lunds top of the line boats. The STX is very similar to the Lund Pro V but has a greater dead rise angle. Most saltwater boats in the 20-30' range are 20-22 degree dead rise for an example.

I started in a 18' Lund and bought a 20' StarCraft with a 19 degree dead rise. The deeper V's with a higher degree of dead rise handle the waves better & have a softer re-entry without the pounding you get in a lesser boat. I love it & would never go back to a Lund because they don't have a deep enough dead rise. The fit & finish on the Lunds is pretty much the industry standard for aluminum boats & they do have a higher resale than most of their competitors. The disadvantage of the deep V is that they draft a little more and the higher sides cause more wind drifting than lower sided boats do.

Not a snap swivel just use a simple crosslock snap. Never use a swivel unless your trying to alleviate line twist at the lure.
