  1. Goose53 wrote LuhrJensen provided duo-lock snaps on most all of their lures. They were a big supplier of lures to the west coast salmon/steelhead/trout fisherman. They knew their lures would provide better action sold that way. Rapala bought them out about 2 years back.
  2. Just a little info on the gobies. Gobies do not have air bladders like most fish so they are forced to stay on the bottom. They cannot suspend, they only move horizontally. So they always on the bottom between shallow & deep. I read somewhere that they can not tolerate depths of more than 50 feet because of pressure buildup. Find the gobies & find the smallies!
  3. I agree with bankbeater & JF. I always use a duo lock snap for all cranks. Easier to change baits & depending on what knot you use gives the bait better action.
  4. IGFA rules state that a record under 25lbs must be exceeded by 2oz or more than the existing record. To replace a record fish weighing 25 lbs or more the replacement must weigh at least one half of 1 percent more than the existing record.
  5. bobbyc None. That's all goby juice.
  6. Jenga it all starts in the mid 50's water temps and up. Usually occurs in late May thru June. The bay heats up faster than the main lake. Not all smallie spawn in the bay.
  7. Just to clarify the rules IGFA does NOT round up weights to the nearest ounce they round down.
  8. We used them last year for a monthly rental in the keys. We would use them again. They did go to bat for us when we complained about being charged a cleaning fee without the cleaning & did received the cleaning fee rebate.
  9. Caught on a Maxima ultragreen leader. 7lbs-6oz.
  10. Buy one 100SP Buy one 100DD SP Buy one 128SP Buy one Staysee Pick colors that you think will work best for your waters.
  11. I have an Airflo and I'm very satisfied with it. It goes thru the washer fine, just follow the directions for drying. Geat sun protection & is cool in PA hot weather.
  12. I use the maxima ultra green for leaders instead of florocarbon. Extremely strong and abrasion resistant. Ties up knots much better than fc without burning and is almost as invisible as fc.
  13. Welcome as well. Your fishing stats are very impressive for a 14 year old. Keep up the good work. There's a lot to learn on this site.
  14. Size matters. I aways say I would rather fish all day or all week for one special trophy than get my string pulled all day long.
  15. Leo, Just saw this post. I'm in for any time after May 11th. I can fish one or two out of my boat. Sounds like fun. Especially like to get speedbead & pitchinkid on board!
  16. Always weigh if we think its 6lbs or bigger! ;D
  17. Milepost43 I knew that was you. Anyhow you guys usually score a 7 or 8 on a jerkbait so post up those pics this spring. Welcome to the best bass site.
  18. Milepost43 Are you part of the Ohio/Georgia group thats stays at the Colonial Motel the last two weeks of April? If so my buddies & I always enjoy your posting your fishing report on the fisherie site. Tim said you guys are pretty good sticks!
  19. Leo & John, Yes the gobies are prey to the brownies & steelhead. The walleye as well, confirmed by stomach contents. Leo do you find the smallies are moving in & out of the shallows or are they more stationary in 10-15 fow? I'm talking surface temps in the low 40's to 50 degrees.
  20. Jensen jigs.
  21. ps: we fished St Clair for several years but it only took 1 trip to North East to change our destination!!!!!!! Shhh! ;D ;D
  22. My experience with hair jigs favors cold water as well. I first started using hair jigs about 15 years ago. I was fishing the western basin of lake erie for walleye in early april drift fishing the reefs. I tried some hand tied hair jigs tipped with minnows and started catching smallmouth, boy was I disgusted.
  23. This jig tipped with a shiner thru the lips bottom to top. This baby ate a plain hair jig.
  24. Yes to hair jigs. I caught this 6lb-14oz on a hair jig tipped with a lake shiner.
  25. My biggest largemouth was 7lb-8oz. Caught March 2007 in a georgia farm pond middle of the day on a lc pointer 128 in 8 fow. My biggest smallie 7lb-6oz was caught May 2009 in lake erie PA in 22 fow around 2 pm on a rapala taildancer TDD 9. Suface temp was around 55 degrees. Both caught on a sunny day.
