  1. Yeah, the concern about water freezing is when you whamo a big log or something, it can cause hairline fractures in the lower unit(the gear case). Youll know as soon as you drain the oil, it will be milky.
  2. It also only takes a second to burn up your impeller. Your boat is so new unless you have hit something solid the likelyhood of you getting water inside the case is minimal. If you have a heated garage I wouldnt even bat an eyelash. The moment you come out of the water on your trailer the majority of your motor is going to have nothing in it. Were talking about a line that runs from the impeller housing to the telltale thats like 1/8". The concern comes with older motors who the owners dont know they are getting water into their lower unit from another area. If I were you, I wouldnt crank my motor. Your choice.
  3. My opinion is that the motor alone is likely worth almost the entire price tag. However you have virtually no front deck.
  4. Why are you putting them in parallel? 12 volt TM and you want more time? Parallel = same voltage, double capacity. You should be fine to charge the parallel setup and the cranking battery. However, keep in mind its likely going to take twice as long to charge the parallel setup as the cranking battery.
  5. DO NOT crank it a few times outside of the water... period
  6. The water is down here, notice the creek coming in. That will still be there when it fills back up.
  7. What gray line? If you look on birds eye in the north east of the ramp youll see the creek channels coming in when you zoom the whole way. How do I make my assumptions on flats... many years of fishing for bass. They go where its shallow, usually protected by wind. It warms up faster there.
  8. I can just see a modular bait... the fish jumps and you get back half a crankbait. Man people would be BURNED then lol.
  9. solar bat makes some cheaper versions for like $40 at TW I got these for christmas http://www.solarbat.com/products/batitude
  10. FYI you can find a balance on ebay cheaper then everywhere else. http://www.ebay.com/itm/CULLN-STICK-HANGING-SCALE-BASS-TOURNAMENT-FISHING-NEW-/130849446156?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e773c190c
  11. A topo is not the end all either, aerial shows you stuff like trees.... check out bing http://www.bing.com/maps/default.aspx?q=northwood+lake%2c+nh&mkt=en&FORM=HDRSC4#Y3A9cjYyNzE2OTF2YmtzJmx2bD0xNSZzdHk9Yg== Turn on birds eye view I can see docks when the water is at its normal level. When I zoom in the whole way I can see the lake is down right now? This is just a few examples. I could spend time looking for trees and what not.
  12. Thats a very bare bones topo. I would expect bass to nest in the north east point almost touching rt4 on the north east of the ramp, also a creek coming in here. Looks like theres a rise under there too. Also the NW side of the lake above rt4, that finger extending into the hills is a swamp. Frogn material there. The resivour along 107 has a creek that dumps into this lake, if deep enough they might even move in it. Where 107 and 4 meet, thats a flat back in there thats pretty shallow, likely spawning grounds. Other than that I would be looking at the wind blown points and in the heat of summer I would be in that 20 ft depth, likely sitting somewhere along the bank that says northwood. Casting into the deepest part with a drop shot or carolina rig and bringing it up that elevation change. That depth drops of very fast there. Anywhere that creeks run in that channel likely continues into the lake. I cant see any historic data like roads or anything, this a natural lake?
  13. I snelled a drop shot hook the other day, it seemed like its perfect for that also.
  14. I go 30lb braid with a max of 12lb fluro leader. Ive been known to run 10 and 8 too. Growing up on a spring fed limestone stream that sees more pressure than one could imagine I found out how fast a line change can turn your day in a hurry. I dont like to fish 7x on a fly rod, I prefer 5x as my low spot however sometimes 5x just cant cut it. If I can land a 10lb steelhead with a firecracker up its rear on 5x I can land a bass on 8lb fluro.
  15. Maybe thats why it feels right to me in addition to growing up with spinning. My #1 technique is flipn
  16. I fish lefty. I remember my first baitcaster before lefties came out and it was a nightmare. Of course, back then I was a whopping 15 years old and had no idea they even had brakes. Did they have brakes 17 years ago? I dont really remember. I bought a good one and then promptly sold it because I couldnt do anything with it. Now, I absolutely love baitcasters. When I bought my first boat they had lefties out and I committed myself to learning how to run it right. Most of my buddies still cant fish them. Fly fishing I control my rod with my right hand so it came natural there also. When I played hockey, I was a lefty, because you control the stick with your dominate hand.
  17. When I was a kid growing up on the rivers this was THE go to at dusk into night on a full moon. You would hear them slapping at it on every cast. We would float the river for hours and just smash the fish. Now that river has had something spilled in it and catching a 12" bass in mid summer is a surprise in some sections. I just changed hooks on two the other day. The hooks were molded into the bait via the hangers. I actually had to cut the hook, add split rings before adding hooks again.
  18. If it dives that deep that rapidly it might give the 10xd a run for its money?
  19. if a new walk the dog is changing fishing forever they might wanna start exploring other avenues unless they figured out a way to just reel and it walks on its own
  20. Looks good, I am going to do my switch panels when it warms up.
  21. my significant others aunt is buying a house right on st lawrence.... SCORE
  22. My cousin absolutely CRUSHED me one time on a creek with smallmouths and a banjo minnow. It was absurd. I was throwing live shiners, he was throwing that and outfishing me easy 10:1
  23. Allright I am dign here maybe this is it? Rapala has an ad on their site that says something about evasive action is coming and it looks like maybe a triggerfish type of swim but doesnt show a lure.
  24. Just placed a paxil order for the bait monkey on tackle warehouse and noticed that rapala has some sort of count down to a release... Fishing Changes Forever In 10Days 11hours .... Anyone got any insight?
