  1. So I got a good deal on some red led strips, plan to put them in the hatches and inside the livewell. Im thinking that rather than running them on a switch at the console Ill install magnetic switches like used on windows for security systems. Open the lid, light on, close it, light off. With led life being so high I am not worried about the little bit they will run during the day. Anyone think this is a bad idea? Why?
  2. forum uploads have a 750mb limit. upload to photobucket and copy the img tag line and paste it here
  3. Odd, id go the flip route
  4. 20's diameter is too small for a baitcaster in my opinion, 30 is as low as I go and thats still pushing it. I imagine 20 would dig into the spool bad. I cant stand mono or copoly on anything but a spincast. Even then it needs some coxing if its above 8lb. Line memory drives me insane.
  5. Im buying one and dedicating it to topwater fishing. I plan to run 65lb braid on it

if you like garlic you want powerteam lures hog tonic. That stuff will make a person who bottles garlic for a living take notice.
  8. If you dont have that when you get home, you know it was a bad day
  9. Im putting braid on every baitcaster I have. I tried mono, fluro... that line memory drives me insane. I dont want to soak my spool every fifteen mins in $9 armor all to cure it.
  10. You sure thats not from the fish? Bass do that to my thumb
  11. I have a similar story, only mine involved a brand new rod and reel. I had the reciept in my pocket, turned around to help a girl I was dating and that rod took off like a rocket ship. I was JACKED but at the same time had to laugh. I shouldve framed that reciept. I litterally owned that entire rod setup for a half an hour.
  12. IT Specialist @ the university which I graduated from in 2005. I take care of about 700 student records daily, everything from active directory to networks, build linux servers, manage exchange servers, room calls, hardware fixes... basically everything you could do in IT in a given day. From 2005 -2010 = In depth web application development, mainly for the agriculture industry using a lot of web technology thats just becoming popular. Also built bank applications that talked to mac machines, online gun sales, parts applications, flash based mapping on gis layers before google earth was even a pipe dream.
  13. Thank you, ive been getting a little rusty at the tying bench till I got back into tying bass stuff. I really dont get into the fly fishing like I used too. I remember sitting at the indianapolis speedway tying in front of a crowd a little size 28 trico spinner and those guys out there were just blown away that a fly could be tied that small. Heck, thats normal if you want to fish the creek I grew up on mid summer. Its learn to tie and fish that or dont catch fish. I was actually blown away buy how much I really have in materials and tools when doing the trebles a couple weeks ago, boxes and boxes of necks. Honestly, id sell most of it but I would hate it for my boy to grow up and want to learn how to do it and have to buy it all again. I own tools that at one point it looked like they would never be made again, like wing burners.
  14. I thought you could itemize your costs of doing the job, much like a mechanic needs tools? Can you fly under the commercial fisherman area?
  15. Theyre sticky but you must super glue them, the sticky isnt enough. I found them on ebay like I said but fly tying shops have various sizes of stuff too. Ive also used google eyes from craft stores on baits. I also cover my wraps in sally hansen hard as nails found in the beauty section of the dollar store or walmart.
  16. Thats how I do mine too j, its all one package. My boat is DIRT cheap, the boat and trailer insured + 10g in tackle and other stuff + 300,000 in liability is about $29/month
  17. When you win a large tournament, is that like hitting the lottery in that they take the taxes on the spot? Do you claim it as extra income on your filing at year end? Do you have to pay on it quarterly, how does it all work? Do they send you a w2 at the end of the year? At what point do you have to start claiming it, $1000+ in total wins?
  18. Heres a structure example, biggest inland lake in pa, theyre adding more this year. This doesnt even touch natural cover http://www.fish.state.pa.us/water/habitat/mgmt_plans/lake/raystown.pdf
  19. I dont know about this lake but there might also be other stuctures you cant see on the map. If you go to the state websites or army corp websites sometimes you can find a "structure map". This is all the man made structure they have built. Sometimes its so new its not even on a map. I go out when the lakes are down and mark everything I can find. Rock piles in mud areas, every bass box I see, a depth change near a dock, a rise you dont see on the map. I do this with a hand held gps. Then I upload it into google earth. This is when I make my plan, google earth, structure maps, topo, weather history, what point works on what wind. My bass club actually has a meeting this week. The state wants us to design the new structure in our local lake. That likely wont be on a map for several years.
  20. Heck a 2.5 or 5 would push that just fine
  21. Ive never made punch skirts, do they put living rubber in them?
  22. The main difference is going to be in the head. You will be pretty limited going the punch route. A football head in rocks is money, makes that craw jump up in a defesive position. I see no reason to skip out on jigs unless money is super tight. You can get a jig pretty cheap. Booyah makes a jig thats like $3 max and $2 on sale that works pretty well.
  23. Looks like yum makes one with a 5/0 hook http://www.basspro.com/YUM-Money-Head-Jigheads/product/12032305011014/?cmCat=CROSSSELL_PRODUCT
  24. 1/8oz standup jig head with a 1/0 hook from bass pro, dipped in spike it black paint then cured. Deer hair with a piece of clear crystal flash on each side and red eyes I found on ebay a little while back http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Stand-Up-Jighead-Lead-Heads-1/8-oz-1/0-Hook-10-pack/product/1989/ Thanks for the compliment. That pattern works extremely well on trout, when it gets wet it looks amazing. I figured it would work on bass from my days of chasing field minnows as a kid to fish with. The dace is an awesome live bait. When it comes to trout, its the same thing minus lead. I usually tie it on a size 14 scud hook.
  25. Took this from a bare head, dipped, cured, tied... eyes...
