Interested in seeing those pics. Have you used the boat yet? Has the paint held up? I spoke with someone from Great Bay Marine and they said since I'll be trailoring the boat and not leaving it in the water that I can get away with an enamel paint. And when it gets dinged or scratched its easy and cheap to fix. He said the process of painting aluminum is too expensive wether they do it or I do it.

How? What paint should I use? I called a marine supply place and they said I have to treat it with Alumacoat then topcoat, but when I crunched the numbers the price came out ridiculous. There's gotta be another way. Suggestions?

That I know of, never killed any. But who's to say that the thing didn't swim away and die later. ??? Ya never know. But I've never released one to find it belly up a few minutes later.

All set! I'll stick to trout, perch and crappies. No need to eat the trash fish. Too much trouble and for what? I'd rather acquire a small fillet from a panfish. Yall should try my black crappie fish-ka-bobs. All cooked the same way. Wrapped in foil with butter, garlic salt, table salt, and pepper......... cooked on grill or open campfire with a side of onions prepared the same way.

What the hell is wrong with this pond? Fish and Game Dept. has Baxter Lake (Rochester/Farmington, NH) listed for containing LMB, SMB, ECP, and HP. I've never seen or caught a SMB here. I talk to the immediate locals constantly and have never heard of anyone catching SMB. Fish and Game don't have yellow perch listed here either and there's definately yellow perch. My friend and I both got skunked. I'm very familiar with this lake, I've caught plenty of bass here including some 4 and 5 pounders. I just don't get it. I saw one LMB, maybe 3 to 3.5 pounds slow cruising 3 ft gravely shallows. I threw a T-rigged slugo......... nothing. I threw a spinnerbait far and ran it right by him........ nothing. I threw my Mann's Baby Bass 1 minus far and cruised it right over him......nothing. I threw an X-Rap, a popper, a buzzbait, a rage toad, a buzzbait and he didn't move. I could see him clear as day. Is this pond getting fished out? It seems that the bass population has greatly decreased since when I first started fishing this pond. Any ideas what I can do? Should I call Fish and Game?

They should check with the local Fish and Game. I believe you need licenses and permits and stuff like that. Don't quote me on it. But, if you check with them, they will tell you what to add and what not to add.

I'd say unless your hands are litterally dripping with bug spray, or, you actually spray the bass in the face with it, you're all set. You may have had him out of the water a tad too long or he was just tired from the fight and needed to catch his bearings. I'll usually set them back in (not throw) and move them forward, back, then forward again. That dog'll hunt.

That's kind of a crappy way of looking at things. I'm not about to lay down and take it like a dog. We buy no gas. We use public trans. annd are doin just fine. These fuel meccas are getting scared that the vehicles of the near future wont need gasoline to run. Its not the price of a barrel or a lack of refineries, its fear.

It looks like a big *** River Chub or fall fish. Got me on that one.

Off topic, but Tony, trout stocking is in full swing in NH. I'll be eating trout this weekend. ;D

Look at the belly on that pig. Nice work. In my experiences, when they follow but are finicky and hit the rear like that, I'll slow or stop my retrieve and let the fish roll on it. It works with spinnerbaits too. But with spinnerbaits I'll slow retrieve, not stop. Were you using the 5" swiimming senko?

She swallowed it deep! I might need the pliers to get it out. My crank doesn't swim right. ;D When we have a day full of hooking branches...... we say, "we're dropping logs today." One time we were out.... two elderly kayakers, well within ear shot, came curiously rowing by. I didn't notice them. Meanwhile, fed up with the panfish that day, screamed out, "STOP NIBBLING MY WORM!" They kept rowing by shaking their heads. The old woman said, "I hope he's talking to the fish."

Definately a flathead. I was thinking it could be a yellow bullhead, but the spikes dont add up. It looks a little pale..... low water temps?

And to top it off.............. frost coming tonight. Go to deeper structure? The lake I fish at is artificial so there is a natural river bed contour. In situations like this, my instinct is to run a search bait along that contour..........my "panic pattern".... so to say. Try search baiting deeper? Points, drop offs and structure? I say with uncertainty. Empty beds suck ***. And this loooong cold front (if thats what it is) needs to hurry up and pass. Trout fishing is premo right now though.

Question: Where do you get your tiny I-Loops? I searched around Home Depot for an hour and couldn't find ones small enough. I searched through my BPS catalog and couldn't find any period. Arts and Crafts store? Thanks.

Not bad! I too am a rookie tackle maker. I've yet to post my work because I'm purposely waiting to purchase an air gun before I paint them. What ya got wrapped around that sunfish there? The popper is stellar. I actually made one that looks almost exactly like that just a different color. I hand painted it and it came out good. I should get a pic of it up. Nice job. Let us know if you land some pigs with those.

Let me just take this time (real quick) to comment on those Rage Toads. I LOVE THEM! Their like a suspending/buzzbait in one. I hook it weedless and throw it anywhere. Wanna imitate a real frog? let it sink to depth then jerk-jerk............. jerk-jerk. Wanna buzz it on top? Cast and retrieve immediately. The legs kick like a buzzbait. Anyone else using these?
