  1. Spro Frog especially the baby popper in black and yellow has beeb very successful lately.
  2. Interesting, I'll have to try them.
  3. I totally agree. I find myself fishing the punching rig more and more, even in lighter weights instead of a jig. The weedless aspect is a major reason. I've also found success swimming them with a twin tail trailer. As for the hook-set, I've had very little problem with my MBR844c. I love jigs, but this may take the place of much of my jig fishing. (Heresy)
  4. I always buy the best I can afford. It is less expensive in the long run I believe and it make fishing more enjoyable for me.
  5. I use leader mostly for my own confidence, but in the last few years the biggest fish I catch are on straight braid so I am slowly changing my mind. Last trip was post frontal and the bass very timid. I caught the biggest bass of the day (4#) on a 3'' ika, clear water, and straight 30# braid, so go figger.
  6. Lommis GLX BSR 852 is a good senko rod. The NRX 852 also very good and very breakable.
  7. I am sure they are great baits, but I have more success with other styles of baits, especially for trailers
  8. I fish with and without and can't tell much of a difference. I feel more confident with a rallte in stained waters.
  9. Spend the $$$$$ get the boga
  10. Learnd a lot. Good Forum . I appreciate it.
  11. I try different trailers, but can't get away from the FAT ALBERT TWIN TAIL. They produce the best for me especially swimming them.
  12. Still after many years, Fat Albert Twin Tails

That's funny..... probably worth your $20
  14. UPDATE: Called G. Loomis customer service and relayed my story. The rep. said in his opinion it was obiviously NOT a mgf. defect because the break occurred during transportation and not while fishing.(?) I still could sent the rod in, but it was assurantly a waste of my time amd money, use the wild card.(this was his attitude) Now any impact that occured to that rod was minimal. If it was not a defect the NRX rods must be ultra brittle. In 50 years of fishing and dozens of rods I have never had and issue. So apparently now my option is for me to put a new tip guide on the NRX and see if it works acceptably. (and not void the wild card) Then when it breaks in the future I still have my wild card, or use the wild card now and fish in fear. As brittle as they appear to be, it will happen again. Anyway what would you now suggest and good-bye to any aspirations of owning a NRX 893 and 803. Too bad because they are fun to fish.
  15. Sorry for the misunderstanding, the rod was two-years old. I thought the "wild card" was a no-question asked" replacement. I had no idea that a replaced tip guide will void their warranty.
  16. That's not the point
  17. Geared up my NRX852 last night, and slipped the rod sleeve on it, all was well. Put the rods in my vehicle this morning and went to the lake. When I pulled the rod sleeve off, about 1-1/2'' of the tip had snapped off. I have no idea how it happened. I am extremely careful with all my G.Loomis rods. I was the only one handling them. QUESTION : Should I just put on a new rod tip. That would only leave a 1-1/2'' of rod to the next guide. Should I go to the hassle and expense of sending it back and see what G. Loomis will do. I really don't want to waste my wild card on this one. These are extremely brittle rods.
  18. cheaper than a psychiatrist. (slightly)
  19. One of my biggest fears is, that when I die, my wife will sell all my fishing stuff for what I told her I paid for it.
  20. Interesting, I fish for fun also, but for me it is much more fun catching big fish. I will happily give up numbers for size.
  21. Heavy tungsten weighted Punch Skirt,t-rigged.
  22. Ya, me too, except when I have to take a nap in the middle of the day out of shear boredom.
