Has Anyone else not caught their first 2020 bass yet?
I have not either, but it’s because I cannot fish. Too many fools who refuse to practice physical distancing. social distancing is the coined term, I think mine is a more accurate description. Fishing is not allowed in my state right now. Click on the link to see a picture. Dam idiots. Yes I misspelled it. Imagine all of these people coming from all over the state and one a-hole is asymtomatic with covid19 and he inadvertently infects those around him and then those people take it home and further spread it. Too many idiots who fail to understand the ramifications of their actions. My state saw one of the first cases and many of the early deaths. I find myself siding with my governor on this. Stupid Washingtonians did a similar thing to coastal town (not fishing) and bombarded these sleepy towns and the residents there grew very concerned but were powerless to stop the visitors. I felt for them. https://wdfw.wa.gov/news/wdfw-closes-recreational-fishing-statewide-wake-governors-order-stay-home-stay-healthy So I feel for you, but at least you can fish ?. Catch one for me.

In the words of teenage boys these days, “bruh.” I’m with you 100%.

Right on. I heard them too. I guess we’ll have fish vicariously through our brethren here who can. ?

Washington State fishing
Wow. The thought to go fishing crossed my mind and I live in WA state. ???

New fisherman looking for versatile spinning combo
Bam! ‘Nuff said. ?? If you decide to go with fc line, you need to make sure it is a limp and non-worry version or else it might give you fits out of the gate.

Big Game Keeps Breaking
No such thing as a good kink, lol. Exposure to UV can also affect mono in general. It is so economical to use that I don’t mind replacing the line like big game when I need to. my experience with this and other mono brands is that be ideal for about 6-8 weeks where the line performs optimally for strength, castibility, and just how the line behaves and feels. After that, usually line just feels different, castibility suffers a bit but overall line strength seems fine. At this point I might continue using it or not. I think another thing affects the line is how “dirty” it is. Even “clear” water has particulates in it that I think can cling to the line that will eventually affect castibility which is sometimes why I still might not change the line. The reason have I arrived at this conclusion is fishing brackish water. I can actually see the filth on my line and after time, the line is useable but not ideal. Then in fresh, clearer water, the same thing occurs to the line but over a longer period of time. Kinks are a different thing. They are a potential culprit all the time regardless of the age of the line. Kinks hold no prejudice. They’ll break $100 line and $0.10 line equally.

Loose Teeth In Table Saw Blade
That for me too... and the router, lol To the subject, ain’t no way I’d use a blade with missing teeth. Hand me the hacksaw

gloom and doom...end of times prepping
Then you’re the same as in Seattle proper. I live 25 miles out and we’re just under $3 No doubt, Glenn. WA state loves taxes, lol.

Send your prices my way. Outside Seattle where I live it’s $2.89 lol. In Seattle I see $3+

Locking Rods in Car?
I’m having some difficulty visualizing what you’re trying to do. I imagine the top of the car inside would be the best bet. Consider yourself fortunate you don’t live where I do. Secured or not in a pvc tube or not, that’s simply inviting a would be thief to bust your window and even if they don’t take anything, you’re out a window, lol.

How expensive is this fix?
I like JB WELD but this would be a tall order for it or other similar glues or epoxies. Maybe that as seen on tv thing that gets cured by light, lol.

Removing a backlash
This is true for any line, and I agree with you 100%. When I know I freed up a pretty bad nest and know I’ve kinked the line in a few spots despite being careful, I know I’m not only fishing but also gambling at the same time until I can replace the line, lol.

Cabelas website
Put me in the old fart category too, lol.

I think virtual private network. It is a means to make your use of the internet safer.

Rod Socks - Sell me on them.
Thanks! I was trying to figure out why. For those old enough, a smack on the forehead and “I could’ve had a V8,lol!”

Some yearly routines from anglers that I have noticed.
Northerners like me, and worse because I’m shorebound suffer through cabin fever or fish vicariously through our southern brethren.

Rod Socks - Sell me on them.
I thought the same thing, but looked closer. Some of the socks have holes for the guides to pop through, but I think it was AJ’s intent to do that on those particular ones.

baitcasting rod
Wow, nice list. Looks like something that should be posted in a bass angler’s man cave.

Have you seen this new reel?
Actually, I was thinking Play-Doh, but I loved Lucky Charms as a kid.

Stradic ci4 model and pairing rod
Sounds like a wine tasting, lol. 2500 or 3000 size spool. Can’t help you on the rod however. I don’t have those types of rods in my arsenal. That reel might even pair quite well with a bottle of 2007 Merlot from Bordeaux.

Switching back to braid? Worth the investment?
Your bad first experience with braid is a result of using 20 lb braid. That is a no no for most blokes. Step up to 30# braid and line dig will be greatly reduced. Step up to 40 or 50 and it is practically going to be non existent. I tend to lean on if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Why don’t you just set up another rig with braid? Whoever said you had to use one or the other? Strong bait monkey vibes I feel.

Leader question
Use the spare line you have. Once you cut it to size, it magically becomes leader material. Really, lol. Michigander pretty much laid it out as why one might consider buying leader material. Someone ought to see if price per length is the same, cheaper or more expensive of a line sold as a filler spool and leader spool. Hmmm. Such a though only crosses the mind of someone who lives where winter shuts bass fishing down.

New KastKing Rod Rack
Someone actually does that in the heart of Seattle where I work. On the streets, and it could easily be broken into in seconds. The person must have enough cash to not worry about it... at all. Hats off!

Worst hooksets?
You guys are sad. I never miss a hook up. Ever. Never ever times ten to the 20th power, lol. Just kidding. For me, it would probably be treble lures in which the strike was less than ideal or my line was so far away that setting the hook is a bit difficult. my losses generally occur on the timing of the hook set moreso than the lure type. . Either I don’t react fast enough or react too fast and am unable to make the right adjustments in the timing is where I tend to lose. On the bright side, I’ve never missed a hook set in the winter. Absolutely true.
